Clearview vs Klockwerks vs Windspitter vs?
« on: April 02, 2010, 11:33:49 AM »

Hey everyone. My SESG Candy Concord ships in 18 days! I know I will be needing a new windshield. I am 5'9 and will be putting a low profile seat on immediately. I would love to hear thoughts on clearview, Klockwerks, and Windspliter, the latter two seem to have the new recurve design. Supposed to put 15lbs of down pressure? Is there one called the x-treme windshield?

thanx guys!

There is an x-treme shield made by LRS--> Click Here

Matt makes a good product and stands behind them. I run his shield on three of my bikes.

Check them out. I have the 8" dark on my Tequila and am 5'11. Very smooth.

I'm not sure how fast you'll be riding that you'll need down force.  Talked with Brian Klock up in Reno about the complaints of the buffeting.  He said that he designed it on the salt flats, for a rider going in a straight line at fast speeds.

A number of us in Nor Cal have the new Windvest.  I have the 8" (I'm 6'4") and the wife has the 6" (she's 5'7").  Click on this link and scroll down for a picture of the one on her bike..,.....    http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=32927.150

Click this link and scroll down for a pic of both of them side by side (8" on mine 6" on hers)  http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=40248.495

Windvest  (the down side is they used the same picture in every one of their shields but you'll get an idea looking at ours....mine is light smoke hers is dark smoke)..........  http://www.windvest.com/products/products.html

I have two different Klockwerks windshields for my bike.  I've run Klockwerks since they came out with their windshields and swear by them.  I don't know much about the other brands, but am really happy with the Klockwerks windshield :bananarock:

I've not had any personal experience with the Klockwerks windshield.  They're certainly cool looking but after the complaints that I've read on this forum....that's what prompted me to talk to him about it.  You can do a simple search "Klockwerks" on this forum and read if you're interested. :nixweiss:

I have two different size Clearview (with recurve). The shields are great quality and customer service there is great too. I wasn't sure which height to get and they told me that I could buy two, install each without removing protective plastic, and return the one I didn't need for a full refund.

After using both, I decided I liked the shorter one for running around in the hills and the taller one for long distance rides. I also added the wings on my fairing (09 Street Glide) and the cup-like device on the forks. Now I can hit the highway and hardly feel a breeze unless I open my wings some... Open all the way, I get more air than without the wings. I have the 8" and the 9 1/2" with a sundowner seat and I'm 6'2"...

OK, I have bought the Harley one for about $150, it's OK for intown riding, but did not cut it on the open road.  Got the x-treme shield for about $100 - 10" dark , as I am 6'1",  works great on the open road, plus it forces you to look over it and see the entire road in front of you.

Just my thoughts

I put on 250 miles today with my new Clearview 8" recurve.  The quality of the shield if phenomenal and the performance is even better.  I'm 6'0'' and have a 31" inseam.  I look over it perfectly with the stock seat and was riding 80+ today with very little buffeting.  The buffeting was coming from below.  The wind wasn't touching me from the top according to my hand test.  The screen looks better than I had hoped too.  I love the cut down look of the stocker, but it doesn't cut it on the highway.

I have the LRS X-Stream, it is a great product, total reduction in buffeting.   :2vrolijk_21:  And it is also reasonably priced.   :pepper:

I've had my 6" recurve Clearview for 3 years , I'm 5 10"   it's a great size for year round. Takes care of the bugs and buffeting and still keeps most of the lower profile look.
