Post by: cyril on November 28, 2018, 05:08:20 PM
I will be away for a couple of months , is it ok to .

Turn on ignition
Pull main fuse
Switch off

Normally I would leave battery tender in place when I’m at home ..

Thank you

If you have electricity available, why not just leave it on the BT and let it "hibernate?" lol

I’m not happy leaving it wired up with nobody to check it

Yes, pull the main fuse. Then hook your tender up for a couple of days when you return.

Modern AGM batteries have a pretty low self discharge rate compared to batteries from a few decades ago, so once you eliminate any current draw by removing the main fuse you should have no problem at all leaving it off the tender while away for a few months.  That's assuming of course that the battery is in good condition to start with.  The only downside to doing it this way versus connecting it to the tender is you may lose some settings for audio systems, etc., but usually that's not a big deal.  Just make certain the battery is fully charged before you leave.

Just unplug the BT and plug it in when you return.
