Sitting here at Corbin right now. Just getting the seat made for the 10 is an experience. He said that yesterday was the first 20 SESG they've done. I think it's going to be a nice looking seat. I'll post photos tonight.

Headed to Jim's for the first mods to begin. Terrie said to post this one for Miker and to let him know she's swilling her 5 Hr. Energy. ;D Of course, she might need it packin that load on her bike. :nixweiss:
Hay JCZ,
lovin' that license plate frame, do you have a part number for that?

The seat looks awesome JC! :2vrolijk_21: You two have a great trip!
JCZ nice! What would one expect to pay for the same seat design? Is that back rest adjustable?
JCZ nice! What would one expect to pay for the same seat design? Is that back rest adjustable?Hey Lucky88, why do you have three bikes still in their crates?
We're at the Paris Hotel in Vegas today. We left Mojave very early this morning and got here early. We were just down at the pool and of course I sprung for Terrie to get a massage at the spa. Interesting, the pool is on the third floor, directly under the Eiffel Tower. :oYou're such a good hubby JC....I'll bet that massage felt great after yesterday's long ride and your ride today...it's good to relax a little...after all...you're on vacation :pepper: .....but where's the pics???
We stopped by Corbin today on our way to Pinnacles today. I had them add another 1/2" padding to my Corbin backrest which they did for free! and the seat is 1 1/2 years old.
TD, did you notice any difference in the Corbin operations now compared to past visits? Just wondering if the business and property being offered for sale was having any impact noticable from the outside.
Don;
I have not been there to see the operations in a long time but i can tell you from the Dealer standpoint they have gotten better with recent orders and communication. The reps i dealt with a year ago are all gone (and that's a good thing).....
TD, did you notice any difference in the Corbin operations now compared to past visits? Just wondering if the business and property being offered for sale was having any impact noticable from the outside.TL, I didn't notice any change in operations other than the restaurant opens later at 9AM, no for sale signs out front. :) I have always dealt with their head seat maker, Gustavo, here in Ca. and he said his hours have been cut to 32 a week. They were definitely busy, but seemingly not as busy as all on all our previous Sat. visits. The manager, Julio, originally quoted me $90 to add to my backrest but when it was revealed that recovering was not necessary, there was no charge, not even for the 1/2 hr labor. Good customer service!

Side note: When I had my last seat made, I talked Gustavo into recessing the heating element into the foam pad so no cover stitching would be necessary. (Stitching pattern is to lift portions of the cover off the heating element to reduce heat). It has worked great for me and he has only done one since. Not for everyone but here's a pic when new. Color has toned down now
Hey Lucky88, why do you have three bikes still in their crates?
trapperdog = what kind of skin is your seat made of?(fau) tan alligator. Much thicker then the Ostrich I was originally thinking of and slightly a different color. Not for everybody but it works for me. :)
He will ride that thing into submission :bananarock:The Seat ..... :nixweiss: Nevermind, I don't even want to know. :)
(fau) tan alligator. Much thicker then the Ostrich I was originally thinking of and slightly a different color. Not for everybody but it works for me. :)
Sweet. I've never seen their tan fakealligator in person. Just their tan fakeostrich. From the photo it's hard to distinguish between the two. A little thicker might be a good thing.Don't you have the big bird on one of your seats? I think that's what inspired mine.

Betcha he meant Big Bird=Ostrich. ??? har! :drink: spyder
Trouble was there is a saddle that has the eagle's head in its stitching. That's the one I was trying to remember. Pretty sure it's a Corbin. But I'll be damned if I can remember who has it.I'm thinking you might be remembering Reo's seat with the screamin' eagle embossed/painted (by Alligator Bob). :-\ spyder
I'm thinking you might be remembering Reo's seat with the screamin' eagle embossed/painted (by Alligator Bob). :-\ spyder
It might be Spyder. Got two images bouncing around inside my head and I'm not sure they're separate or just a fogged up memory. One is an eagle stitched in a saddle and one is as you describe. Bet it's not variations on an image but two distinct seats I'm trying to remember. This was one that I remember.
Hey JC--how soft is that seat. I have heard the Corbins can be pretty hard. I like the look of that one and was going to go to a solo over the winter (hopefully)
Soft doesn't give support where it's needed. To the touch, Corbin seats feel very hard. But it's a seat that you can spend twelve or fifteen hours in the saddle and not get monkey butt! :2vrolijk_21: For me, that's what's important. If you want "soft" you might want to stay with a stock Harley seat.
I agree....the not gettin monkey butt is important!! I wish Corbin wasn't so far away. I would really like to go get it made like you did. I guess I will have to settle with ordering online. Do you think the backrest can support a TBag like a regular 2 up stock backrest. I would like to attach to that solo backrest and lean the luggage on the solo luggage rack.
The stock passenger back rest is very short.....not sure I'd rely on it to hold much of anything. How are they working out for you JC? I bet it's not as convienent as the tourpac you've been use to......but, they look better bungyed on back there. :2vrolijk_21: har! spyder
You can click on this thread to see what Terrie and I are doing right now. I've already ordered a King tour pack, but it's not arrived yet.
These are Kuryakn Gran Traveler (or is it Gran Tourer?)..... http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=40384.0
Not sure. I don't know anything about a T Bag. I've had tour packs since before they started making T-bags.

I saw those on Kuryakyn website. What I did not like was that they are secured to the rack with just velcro straps. I really want the tourpak, but it is a bit out of $$$ reach right now.
I really like what you did by removing the rear reflectors...are the fillers you refer to custom-made to replace the void after you removed the reflectors or can they be purchased (HD or aftermarket)??? Hand painting the grooves in a coordinating color was a great finishing touch.
JZ3
These inserts are from Drag, I have them in stock, retail is 25.95, (10% off = $23.36 )
Can we have you paint them like JC's or are they proprietary to him ;)
I will take a (painted) pair if I remember to call you after I get home from work related travel! I have the concord also...

JC...
After the long vacation ride, what do you think of the new seat and besides the stitching, were there any other mods to the unseen portion such as more padding?
This stock seat will look best on a shelf in the basement!
Dave :coolblue:
I'm curious how that seat was on this trip also since I hear that those Corbins require some breaking in..... :nixweiss:
The seat is great......same comfort level as the Corbin seat on my SEEG.
Yes, I had a little of the padding shaved from the center, up towards the tongue. Just a little more room for the boys :2vrolijk_21:
Uhhhhh.....we're in California.....we don't have basements. :nixweiss: It'll have to stay on the shelf in the garage. :)
I don't really notice anything different on the first day of riding a new Corbin from 10k miles later. Maybe that's cause I have an iron butt. :huepfenlol2:
All I know is that I was real resistant to buy a Corbin for a lot of years, just because it felt so hard to the the touch that I couldn't imagine that it could ever be comfortable. Vanamal loaned me his and I took it on my ocean to ocean ride a few years ago. When I got home I put every seat that I had in my garage (I had a collection of em) on ebay and bought that seat from Vanamal. This is my second one and I don't need to look any further. :2vrolijk_21:
This one shows the saddle bag latch trim detail. Jim hand painted the black accent groves a light blue to match the pin stripped flames. He did a lot better job than I ever could have done. :2vrolijk_21:JCZ....is there chrome under the reflector or do you need to buy the chrome part ....Keith

Hey JCZ......... I am absolutely astonished by the AWESOME work you have done to this bike - absolutely floored! Keep up the mods 'cause you're giving me some awesome ideas!
I just had a quick question for you regarding the GPS. What kind is it - Is it a Zumo 550?. As well, how is it mounted (I like the location), and is it "hard wired" in, or "plugged in". Sorry for being so "naive", but I have never owned a GPS, and am considering buying one for my SESG. I have the "Spiced Rum" on order, but after seeing your bike and a few other Candy Concords on this Forum, I may switch colors......
Oh, and what ideas do you have for the exhaust? Just curious......MAN your bike looks AWESOME!!!!!!!!!! Keep it up :2vrolijk_21:
JC, the tour pack looks awsome and you know I love the blue. You forgot to mention the GPS's have trouble locating BBQ joints. :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2:
I'll be using this for function and not looks. So.......Jim will be mounting the luggage rack and lid organizer with the luggge rack bolts through it......to hold the weight of all the crap I stuff into the lid organizer.
Where are those damn leg fairings? I'm anxious to see how much difference they'll make regarding the heat (no heat) issue. :2vrolijk_21:
JC the tour pack looks really good...can't wait to order mine. Did it come with a lock cylinder installed and keyed alike or is that another project that they make us do on our own?
The lockset need to be ordered separatly, can be ordered to match your keycode though.
You could probably get some great looking billet hinges from D00d. har! :drink: spyder
I can tell you that nothing comes with the tour pack.....not the lock or the mounting hardware, the liner, luggage rack......everything's extra. :nixweiss: That's why they tour pack ends up costing so damn much when it's all said and done.

This photo shows the new Kuryakn license plate frame......shaved the huge stock license plate light and reflector. Sure cleans up the back end.Hey JCZ, I am REALLY liking this license plate frame. Just wondering if it covers EVERYTHING that was removed (i.e. factory plate holder, license plate light, reflector etc.). If so, I am going to order one later today. I don't want to have to start "filling holes" if some would be exposed after the install. This would be my first mod whenever my bike finally shows up.. :pepper: Thanks in advance, and keep up with those awesome mods!

No, no holes to fill. There is a hole behind the plate, but you can get a hole plug at any hardware store. You can get them in black plastic or chrome. As of right this minute, nothing on my bike has been painted. That's about to change in the next week or two. Stay tuned for those pics. :2vrolijk_21:
Oh ya, you can bet your bottom dollar I'll be waiting for those pics :2vrolijk_21:. Thanks for the info. on the license plate holder - I just ordered one. I also bought a Garmin Zumo 660 yesterday and the fairing mount from HD. No, everything will be done at one time. Still waiting on the leg fairings and the painter for the inner fairing and Hog Pod. :nixweiss: Jim's had my bike a couple of weeks and it seems like a couple of months. I just keep telling myself "quit whinning, some of these guys don't even have their bike yet". :huepfenlol2: That little talk to self doesn't help. :nixweiss:

Okay, so I made the call to Paul Yaffe of BaggerNation on the license plate from that was mentioned earlier in this thread.
http://www.baggernation.com/products-body-plateholders.htm (http://www.baggernation.com/products-body-plateholders.htm) (bottom of page)
Turns out these are not ready for prime time and that they were posted on the website too early. Couldn't give me any idea as to when they would be released. Says he'll post when they are ready to sell.
I know, pricey, but I sure like the looks of it as well as lighting up to plate to keep me legit. :jester:

Winter here in WI as well :( I'll have to wait to ride mine until May. Hopefully I'll be able to read about all the cool modifications everyone is making, make my list and get working on it in March.
That's the plan someday! My dealership already has my '08 FLXH already sold, so I need to get it up there this coming weekend. That will be the last ride of 2009 for me :( I suppose I could pick up my new bike in November, trailer it home and spend all winter driving it around in the garage. You could, just not very far. ::) har! :drink: spyder
Lookin good JC!! :2vrolijk_21:
JC, are you having the mirrors painted as well? Looking good right now :2vrolijk_21:
By the way........everybody.....I have a pair of saddle bag spoilers and a tour pack spoiler for sale for the Candy Concord. I'll let them go for 20% off retail and you pay the shipping and get them now. Let me know. I've decided I'm not going to go that route.......going after a different look. Just hope I don't end up regreating forsaking the safety aspect of not having them.JC, those stock LED lights on your SESG are very bright from behind....both running and stop lights. I don't think you'll be making a safety mistake there. I love those lights on that bike. Best so far on a stock Harley, I think. ;) spyder
You and Roger want to ride over to Corbin about 9:00 a.m. on Sat. you can join Jon and I for breakfast.....see it in person. :nixweiss:Unfortunatly we will be up in Sonora winterizing the house and houseboat. Winter will be here soon. Are you getting a heated seat? Take lots of pics (as if you ever don't) Roger
Hey JCI think that measurement would be determined by wether or not they're positioned forward or back. Terrie has the same bars on her Street Glide but she has them pulled way back and down (below the Street Glide fairing mounted mirrors) where my bars will be up more. :nixweiss:
Can you do me a big favor when you get a chance?
Can you measure from the inner fairing (seam) to the tip of the Handlebar (end closest to fairing), the reason I am asking is I had an 06 with bars that were 15" from inner fairing to handlebar tip (and they were perfect). The dealer said I have the exact same handlebar on my 09, but they only measure 13".
The handlebar you have look exactly like my old ones, so I am thinking...............just maybe I got screwed :nixweiss:
No, I went with the HD Touring close reach bars. They're up 2" and back 2" from stock and regardless of what the catalog says, they're chrome. Terrie has the same bars on her Street Glide.....she just has them pulled way back (below the mirrors) so she kept the stock mirrors. I'll be going with handlebar mounted mirrors.

Love the look! Have a Dakota Digital speedo/tach combo on my bike. Love the blue, that would look extra cool at night!
Then you have to get the radio lighting to match
It is done already;D, I had the backlighting changed to blue.
And while you'll quickly recognize the Dakota Digital gauges take a closer look and you'll notice the lense of the stereo is also in blue rather than the stock red. Yes, it's the stock stereo with a lighting conversion. Had to do it! :2vrolijk_21:
JCZ looking good :2vrolijk_21:
The painted inner fairing looks really nice. I have my dealer calling HD to see about doing mine and not getting to far. Also have dealer calling about tour pak confusion in the catalog. JC not sure if your guy can match the Tequlia???The MoCo doesn't have a painted inner fairing or Hog Pods. You just have to find a good painter near by. Ask your dealer who does their painting for them when they have to get something painted.
MANNN THAT IS HOT mucho caliente I'm digging that set up ma I ask what is the going price for the gage set up?
Another Jim question. :nixweiss:
But I may need to take a collection from all of you when I go to pick up my bike. :nervous: :nervous: :nervous:

And I was gonna ask you to send me a cutting off your money tree so I can plant one like that in my backyard... :huepfenjump3:

Well, if you're at Corbin around 9:00 a.m. on Sat. you can have breakfast with Jon and I at the Wizard Cafe. We'll be staying at the Best Western in Hollister on Friday night.
I'm just getting a p-pad and passenger back rest made to match my seat but we'll be there all day cause Jon is getting the seat and p-pad. Come on by.
JCZ
You might want to give Corbin a call first........I've been waiting 4 weeks on a re-cover of my seat that was only supposed to take a week. They told me they ran out of the black braided welting and it won't be in for 4 weeks. Said I had to have the regular black welting if I wanted it right away. I noticed you had that welting on your seat. It may save you a trip. ALSO they are now on their winter hours......the factory is only working 3 days a week. Let me know if they were pulling my chain on the welting.

Naw......they don't make em in orange. :huepfenlol2:Man, you're like an addict, now that you're hooked on digital gauges, you want all your friends on the bandwagon too :)

Except the gauges...I still have a Love/Hate relationship with those. I saw them on the SG at the Hood River GTG from a distance and really liked the look but I am still an analog fan...maybe that will change over the next year ...
Just got home. Went over to the bay area this afternoon to pick up my bike from Jim's. Got to say I am a happy camper! :2vrolijk_21:Looks good JC. I'm suprised you didn't have Jim change the color of the nutural and oil light to blue :) The gas gauge is fairly accurate, when you're stopped. Going down the freeway at 80 the gauge can read 00 (%) but when stopped it will read 7 - 8 %. Better thatn the other way around though.
This first pic is taken with the sun behind my shoulder, shinning directly on the dash......shows how easy the gauges are to read, even with the sun shinning directly on them.
Painted inner fairing and HOG PODS, too....
Looks good JC.
Good job. I hate it when people throw alot of money at a bike and it doesn't have a flow. Some people should hire others to design there project so they don't look like they drove through Pep Boys with a crap magnet on. You have designed a great package that flows well from one end to the other. You should be proud of your work. Congrats :bananarock:
I think you need to have a conversation with your mechanic. My nutural light or the oil light aren't on when I'm riding so that's a moot point. As for my gas gauge......it's consistent wether I'm stopped or riding. :nixweiss:
Does Melanie have the latest style of Dakota Digital gauges or are they the last version? Who did her wiring, anyway? Get your money back!
Hey JC, D00d's got some billet hinges he might let you have for that tourpac. :P har! spyder
"look like they drove through Pep Boys with a crap magnet on."
Congrats :bananarock:
No sir, those are conversation pieces only.. Dood is not selling.
That's my take on that situation anyway. :nixweiss:
I'm not sure.......I think they're Boogie Lights. What ever brand they are, they last a lot longer than the Kuryakn. I had the Kuryakn on my SEEG first, kept burning out so I had them removed and had these lights put on and they last much longer. :2vrolijk_21:
No wonder they look so bright. I have used Boogie lights on my last 2 bikes and will be doing so again over the winter. Haven't found anything quite as good.
By the way..the bike came out great. :2vrolijk_21:

I'm thinking it's about time for you to start posting pics of your mods. :) Let's try to spend some of your money..........or somebody else'.........mine has dried up. :nervous:
Exactly!!!! I couldn't do that to my best friends.... hell... they wouldn't have anything to give me the bizzness about. That would be just cruel of me to install them or get rid of them.... and we all know I'm not cruel. :sneaky:  :wiseguy:

DickRead post above ^^^^
I would hope you are correct!
SBB
Yea, but look at your dash pics ya goofball, they are bright as day. I'm talking about for pictorial sakes. :nervous: ;D
OOOH, better hope Jim does'nt see this :huepfenjump3:
Wait till you're down to 1/4 gal on the freeway, you'll see. The gauges are all plug and play, no wiring involved.(As you know,Just programing and calibration but not for fuel) Placement of the fuel level "sensor" in the tank. All my trucks are the opposite, when I have less than 2 gals., they will show more fuel when moving than stoped.
JCZ, are you going to put the front fog lights on too? What about exhaust and engine mods? Did you up grade the radio with an amp?
It looks to me that you both have your seats made without a welt. Is that correct?
Marty and i got to see some of our pals and met a couple of new ones too. So Cal boys have to ride north where there all at though! JCZ bike is beautiful and jons is something to see too! I rode close to 500 miles and marty had to ride close to 700 or more- see you soon :bananarock:
I have the HID headlight. Don't know about anything more........trying to keep the uncluttered, clean look.
Exhaust and engine is stock. I don't seem to have the heat issue that everybody else has and so I'm afraid to start messing with that.
No, haven't found an additional amp to be necessary with the HOG POD tweeters everything is clear at 80mph. :2vrolijk_21:
Is the headlamp on the SESG a hid? If not what did you use?
No, they don't come stock. We have Xetronic. Turn the volumne up on your computer and click on this thread for more info. You can get these lights from Jim at Metal Dragon......... http://www.xtralights.com/hidxenonmotorcycleconversionkitsmotorcyclehidkithidconversionkits.aspx
JC, do you know if jim used the H4, digital or standard version?
Do you know which color option you have (crystal white, deep blue, etc.), and what do you think about the color you have?
Do you need the "disable on-board computer warning feature"?
Any help would be appreciated. I may just have to email the company for more details.
Thanks
I believe they're the H4 but couldn't swear to it. The color is 6000k Diamond Blue..........although to follow the color scheme of my bike, I should have asked him to go with the 8000k Deep Blue. ;D
Seriously, the Diamond Blue is what I have on my SEEG, also. It's a very white light.....a clean light, especially compared to the stock light. You don't realize how yellow those are until you see one next to one of these. About the same difference between my Silverado and BMW. Ernie tried the Deep Blue but they were too blue and so he switched back to the Diamond Blue.
JC;
You have the 4300K in both bikes ;D The SEEG has the H4 hi/lo and the SESG has the H9's for hi and low beam. Digital ballasts in both as well.
Damn it.....I want my money back!I got it. Two digitals. What about disable the warning, do we need that to. Sorry I don't know a thing about these lights. Its probably all pretty simple.

:huepfenlol2: Sorry, no refunds :huepfenlol2:If you go motorcycle, digital, h9 bulb, it asks if you need to disable on board computer warning, or maybe im in the wrong place?
Seriously though the 4300K are the brightest whitest light availible. I have installed the others (6000k and 8000K) on bikes only to remove them later for the 4300K.

and a surprise visitor just came rolling up.......my wife rode down this morning. A very happy surprise. :2vrolijk_21:
JC, What's Terrie having done to her seat? Noticed it was off in the pic.
This group doesn't miss anything (noticed the same thing). :cherry::huepfenjump3: :huepfenjump3:
JC, What's Terrie having done to her seat? Noticed it was off in the pic.
With so much bad press on Corbin's internet/mail order coustomers I'm supprised at just how good their drive in service is. We installed rear crash bars on Melanie's bike months after the new seat and needed it altered. Took it in and they did it for free. 1 1/2 years after I had my seat made I wanted more padding in the backrest. Again, no charge, AND they gave me a chrome back plate for free.
It was probably the one that Terrie left there when she got her black one. :huepfenlol2::2vrolijk_21: :)

:jack: this is disappointing to hear about Corbin. I've had a Corbin on my '85 since '98. Have been trying to connect with them to talk about thread color and no reply... I really want to order a seat setup for the Spiced Rum (no pics, 1 month to go).. have heard from 3 different vendors/dealers about Corbin and bad, not just poor, but bad service. Now I hesitate .... ummmmm :nixweiss:

I ordered a Corbin from Jim at Metal Dragon (HD-Dude) and had it in 10 days!! We were both shocked!!
tjstreetglide sent me some paint color chips for the color that he wanted the thread to match (I think it was for the pin strip flames?) of his spiced rum. I matched the paint chip to a spool of thread when I was there last week. He'll post photos after he gets the seat made.
I'm not sure why Corbin isn't answering the phone if you're calling during business hours......they've answered every time I've called. There are only a couple of women that work in the office and they don't seem to be to customer service oriented. :nixweiss: Unlike the workers out in the shop......they're very helpful, courteous and professional......they bend over back wards to make you happy.
Even if you get a live person on the phone.......what color are you going to tell them you want? I mean the color that I matched up to that color chip is a bunch of numbers and letters (ie. Scarlet uv6834tse) which would be different from all the other scarlets. They're not going to make that call for you, over the phone and there are so many different shades of each color. :nixweiss:
I don't know what the solution is unless you could find somebody headed there that you could send a color chip to.

Myko, if your wanting a representative who is knowledgeable about your bike to interface for you with Corbin Call JIM! That is what I intend to do when I am ready. It is what mjb is doing:
JC: Sounds like you and tjsstreetglide have done exactly what I need. I want to get in the ballpark on the color of the pinstripe of a Spiced Rum. Do you recall which thread you matched up?
I did talk to Jim a couple of weeks ago, and he hasn't matched up a Spiced Rum yet, but said that one way to approach it was to choose a leather material from the website that matched and have corbin match the thread to that. I did, and in the various photos I have of the spiced rum, the Orange Vinyl appears the closest of the coverings on the web site that will match up.
As Jim said, the color of the thread will change over time and will darken. Getting an exact match, especially from remote, will prove impossible.. all I would like is to get in the ballpark on the thread color.
The phone recording sez the hours are 6a to 6p to reach via phone and I've called ~5p and left a message. Sent request via the web site form.
If you could post the color thread that matched up with tjstreetglides paint chips, and if tjstreetglide can confirm that the color was for the pinstripe, then :orange: I'm there and can order!
Yesterday: 40 degrees, wet -- ummmmmm a heated seat sure sounds nice!
JCZ
I got the thread, perfect match but it looks a little loud when I lay it on the seat. I don't know If that is really me. Thinking of something that barely shows up. Maybe just one thread? Or a dark gold. Let's have some ideas from the group, or some pictures of some of your seats, guys.
:huepfenjump3: well, I wasn't the only one on the phone with Jenni talking Scarlet 2003 today :huepfenlol2:Nope.
JC...what is the Corbin color thread# you used on your seat?
Painted dash looks nice, Hog Pods painted are the bomb but those windshield pouches not so good, imho.I'd have to agree. But most here know that windshield pouches aren't for looks.....they're for function.
I would like to personally thank JCZ for posting the pictures of his Dakota Digitals.................. I know have mine on order.
I couldn't handle the pressure anymore.
Red or Blue?
Then I guess you are going to do the radio also :2vrolijk_21:
Do what to the radio?????? Don't tell me you want to spend my $$$$ too?
You can send the radio out and have the backlight color changed to blue to match the gauges...I would have thought you knew that!
go up to reply #171 on this thread on it will show a pic.
Also go to http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=42668.msg650027#msg650027 for the post from the company that does it with another pic. It really completes the look.

Sure would appreciate any info you might recall on this.

I believe the 04 SEEG paint is obsolete for about two years now. I just looked on the web site and it's no longer on there. :nixweiss:

d00d, why would YOU get Candy Cobalt/Starlight Black and not :pumpkin: ? :huepfenjump3:I should have added that I changed the color code to "Candy Cobalt/Starlight Black" for KTP he would need (my color code was "BKM")
Did you get the "upgraded hinges"?Yea... stock.... everybody else have the billet ones which make mine custom. :D :D

Truth be known......he was wishin he'd have bought the blue and black bike! :huepfenlol2:Not!!! :P :D
With Dood's supplied BKK color code here's a listing from Chicago Harley's website of everything that shows up for BKK. Tour pak parts are included in their list. Click on the pic and it'll get larger and easier to read.
According to HD's intranet, h-dnet.com, both colors are obsolete for tour paks and no U.S. Dealer has one in stock.I checked about two years ago. All the 04 SEEG parts in blue and black were obsolete and a dealer search showed that nothing was available. Maybe twolane has info that I'm not privey to. :nixweiss:

Steppr, to copy and post a link to other web sites (here)......when you have the page open in the link that you want to provide, go up to the top of the page with your icon to the address bar and right click. When the drop down window opens, go down to "copy" and lef click. Then go back to the window that you have open, where you want to post the link and put your icon where you want to add the link...right click again. When the drop down window opens go down to "paste" and lick on it. You're done. It's very simple after the first time.....try it. :2vrolijk_21:
If you're wanting to quote somebody else' post, instead of clicking on "reply" just click on "quote" then be sure to scroll down below the quote box before you start typing. Otherwise, you end up typing inside their quote. Try it, you can't hurt anything.

Sorry JC, my fun at your expense.
I saw in another post (the Corbin or not thread I think) that you were going to tinker with the Quick detach solo mount for your KTP. I'm really anxious to see how that works out for you. I have been looking at several TP options. Wanted to know mostly how much time/trouble it would be to change the mount from 2-up to solo and back. Looking forward to a thorough review as you have set that standard as such. :2vrolijk_21:
It's not scratch and sniff, but something else. :confused5:Now that's funny Sapper. Actually, that was a typo (click instead of lick)......but a funny one, just the same. :2vrolijk_21:
Sorry JC, my fun at your expense. It's already been determined (by the pic of the Road Glide above) that the solo tour pack rack will work with the Corbin seat.

The only issue going from a solo position to a two up position would be how ever long it takes you to unbolt the tour pack from one of the racks and bolt it on the other. :2vrolijk_21:
Roger that. I guess the question is then what's the approximate time to change between the two mounting racks? I was also wondering what you think of the armrest backrest as a solo setup? I was thinking that you'd still want to switch to a pad like Larry's got or one of the Street Glide pads for the backrest.
I've spoken to Larry about having him paint a TP for me (I want one with lights) and have been hunting for one on ebay. Although it is hard to believe how much a scratched up beat up TP will go for. I was really thinking I would prefer to have the KTP with armrest for the wife and a Chopped Solo. Big bucks to go that way though. I've not seen a used Chopped pack sell for much different than Retail.
I can't answer the tech questions on setting the odometer, but know that when I've replaced speedos through the Moco that I could have them set the mileage before shipping the speedo. Mileage, at least on my '07 was still a function of the speedo.
Why would mileage be an issue on an HD warranty? HD won't warrantee the Dakota gauge and HD's warrantee's are unlimited mileage.
In my state, when documenting a vehicle you can declare that the mileage on the vehicle is bogus... as long as you declare it, your cool. So keeping up on the mileage is really a personal preference.
The Dakota Digitals have a feature built into them that allows you to set the milage. This must be done within the first 100 miles put on the odometer the feature will lock itself out. This feature was not always there, it is a fairly recent add to them.
Bogus or irrelevant to you perhaps. Especially if you're the original owner who knows everything about it. Likely very relevant to the next guy who'd like something more than a story from a guy selling a used car about why the mileage is weird. And that doesn't address at all the legalities of intentionally allowing an odometer to be inaccurate.Twolanerider - didn't mean to offend, but the statement I was speaking to was on warranty... of course resale is another issue and my statement stands that it is a matter of personal preference. me thinks you should re-read my post :nervous:

Thanks guys...appreciate all sides of the issue!
This photo shows the new Kuryakn license plate frame......shaved the huge stock license plate light and reflector. Sure cleans up the back end.
The LED Plate frame is a Kury 9182, It does require drilling new mount holes in the fender and wiring the deusch connector for the light. When I installed this one I also modified and re-used the support plate under the fender to retain the plastic housing that protect the wires and connector. Also had JC run to the local hardware store to pick up a 9/16" black plastic hole plug to hide the hole where the original wire went through.
Just a note to let you guys know.......my mods haven't stopped. They just slowed down for a minute. Doing more mods to the wife's bike, again. I think you guys will really like what I've been working on for her bike, once I unvail it. For now, here's the mods already done to hers (for those who are new and havn't seen it yet) pretty similar to the mods I've done to mine..... http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=32927.0
Mod for winter riding???
:nervous: :nervous: :nervous: Note the "steering string!" :nervous: :nervous: :nervous:
Just here to nag you about your most recent Mods. Either on your bike or the wife's.
If needed I'm sure that several members here could be motivated to help you spend some more. :huepfenlol2:
And the first mods......8" dark tint Windvest windshield, windshield pouches, Tune Trapper hidden antenna, full size crash bar with hiway pegs (temporary loaner pegs for now, till mine arrive), GPS w/XM wired, E-Z Brake extended shifter rods, Kuryakn license plate frame with integrated LED license plate light, 4 pt. docking hardware, shaved the reflectors off the front legs, removed the rear reflectors and replaced them with a hand painted filler strip painted to match the pin stripe flames.
This photo shows the windshield and crash bar.....
I had a dark tinted shield at 1 point. Obviously looking over it is fine if you are tall enough, but seeing through it at night is sometimes a problem. I went with the smoked one. Just my $.02
How do you like the Dark tinted windshield versus a Smoke tint? Any issues with seeing through it or over it?
I've never been O.K. with looking through a windshield. That probably came from my first twenty years of riding without one, all together. :nixweiss: The lipped windshield (I have a Windvest) you want to get it where it's about 2" short of your line of site when sitting in riding position in the saddle.
That way you're looking over the top of it yet there isn't any wind buffeting of your head or helmet (the whole purpose of the lip on the windshield). :2vrolijk_21:
Thanks for your feedback. I agree and never look a windshield. I will probably go with an 8" shield with the lip/curve. Still not sure whether to go with a light tint or dark tint.
I'm 6'4" and sit on a Corbin seat (a little lower than stock seat height) and I use an 8" dark tint (and eye level is about 2" over the shield). My wife is about 5'8", she sits on a Corbin and she uses the 6" dark tint. She also looks over the top with no issues.
If you're looking over the top (instead of through it), the color of tint shouldn't have any bearing. We use the dark tint because we feel it looks better on the bikes. :nixweiss:
I am 5'11"... John at Clearview suggested the 8". Now, I am not sure if I should get the 6.5" or 8"?? I may have to trial and error by trying the 8". Which would you suggest for a 5'11" person?
I'm 5'9" have the clearview 8" and see over it just fine med smoked
Prefer the darker look as well but got a deal from a riding buddy who used it one day and ordered a 10"
Love it works well I like the factory 4" and was afraid it would look bad but it looks OK. Will still use the factory around town and this an trips.

Keep us posted.....let us know how it works for you. Did you go with the dark tint or smoke?
JCZ-
I just installed the Kury lic. plate mount.....looks outstanding! How were you able to remove the reflectors from the front forks without damaging the chrome? The same goes with the reflector inserts on the saddle bag latches?

Sorry to interupt,
JCZ,
I looked for this on the thread, I thought that I had seen this. Do you know how you got the painted tourpac without the antenna mount? The hd site shows only one with the mount. If so do you have a part number?
Thanks
I got the TourPack for JC, His came without the antenna holes but with the passenger backrest holes. It is a crap shoot though with HD on the tourpacks as some come with and some withpout. Part number was 79071-10DEH for the Concord, 79071-10DEK for the Rum, and 79071-10DEM for the Sunrise
Jim.....You mean if I order the TP I may wind up with an antenna hole that I don't want or need?
Yea, when I called Jim to have him order it, he told me that they come with the antenna hole (because that's what the catalog shows). I figured well.....we'll just do what we did when we ordered for the 04 SEEGs (the 05 SEEGs came with the chopped tour pack). However, when it arrived, Jim called me and told me it didn't have the antenna hole and was already drilled for the back rest. :2vrolijk_21:

Sold my Teal Pak today to a friend wife and dropped it at the painter for her to match for Christmas. :orange:
Now if I sell the Vivid Black Pak I'll come out about even. I gues thats how it works. :jalapeno:
Sold 2 paid 4 Softails get 1 FLHXSE, now sell 2 Tour Paks Get 1
This new economy is a little weird? :nixweiss:
Or maybe a vivid black that will match my lowers and the fairing cap.'
'You are correct, :(
IMHO I don't think it would like right in black..it mounts too close to the bags to not match. just my $.02
You are correct, :(
Ill be OK till till travel season anyway, although I sure seem to say by by to $$$ being on this board, especially this thread
And with the passenger back rest on the King Tour Pack....Looks great.
Looks great.
when your bride rides with you does she like those long armrests? Harley's look like they are about useless as far as an armrest is concerned. I think my girl would nod out on that ;)
JC..which p-pad is that? The "touring" one or the "50's style" one?
I am just looking for the smallest p-pad they make just in case my other half does not want to ride her own that day. I will go with the solo TP so it will either be the seat or the TP, but never both. Any trips we take together she takes her bike also.
JC..which p-pad is that? The "touring" one or the "50's style" one?
Is that the smaller of the 2 pads??
Unfortunately there are no pics on the Corbin website....or maybe I am just dense...
There's a bigger p-pad too. Butt ugly and obnoxious looking thing.

Jc
Did you pt in a wiring harness for the tourpak?
JC
What did you do about the holes where the mirrors were in the fairing? Fill and paint? I always thought that would be a good place for tweeters. Maybe we should design a kit for that and help support this site with the $$$ :huepfenlol2:

Somebody correct me if I am wrong..but I think the new fairing does not come with holes already drilled for the mirrors. You must drill them when you install.
Mike, He traded his inner fairing to a Ultra Limited owner..... so the one he's got now is off an utlra.
See here:
http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=43305.msg663028#msg663028
As to answer your question about the holes being drilled I really don't know for sure, but I'd guess they are there already :nixweiss:
JCA guy that has an Ultra Classic Limited wanted my fairing.....I took his and some$.

They don't come color matched.....you have to get yours (or another one) painted to match for the SESG.
That I know--mine is being painted right now. But I think the new ones don't have mirror holes already drilled in them.
I know the Electra Glide inner fairings don't have the holes.....but are you saying the SG inner fairings are no longer pre drilled?
JC the bike looks Awesome!!!! You appear to have way too much money so when you run out of things to put on that new SG send some my way!!!!! :bananarock: :bananarock: :2vrolijk_21: :nixweiss:
Face Out!
The shop that is painting my new inner fairing has confirmed that it is not pre-drilled for mirrors.
Are you going to drill it or use the handlebar mirrors?
I went with bars that are 2" taller and 2" back so I had to go with different mirrors. :nixweiss:
JC............Any new pics coming, or are we going to have to wait till Christmas :nixweiss:
Should have new pics of the wife's bike in a week or two. I'll let the cat out of the bag now....to far along for anybody else to jump in front.....
As you guys know, she's got the 09 Street Glide that already has a ton of mods (painted to match leg fairing, inner fairing, fairing mirrors and air cleaner) along with many other mods such as tour pack spoilers that are run, turn, stop.....LED lights around the motor, Custom fitted heated Corbin Classic Solo with the flame stitch pattern in red.
Now we're going with the 2010 SESG rear section (shaved fender, LED vert. tail lights, streatched saddle bags, exhaust, etc.) and the Dakota Digital gauges. We enjoy hearing our stereos on the freeway (and we're getting old) so we went with the 1.75 Fullsac baffles (and they'll be loosely wrapped to quiet them even more) in the 10 SESG stock exhaust. She already has the TTS and it will be dyno tuned in the end.
I'll post pics as soon as we get it back.
I'm going with handlebar mirrors in case I decide to the change the bars later on. If I go with fairing mounted mirrors, I'm stuck with those bars forever.
Come on out to Cali.....you can ride my bike to see if you like the raised bars. :2vrolijk_21:
There's a thought.......
Well you know, that invitation extends to you to, Dick. :2vrolijk_21:

I think that's a smart move on your part. I like the fairing mounted mirrors (didn't think I would) however, they just don't work for the raised bars. :nixweiss:

I think that they would be too distracting at night....I would have to wire a toggle switch in to shut them off...so then what would be the sense in having them...hehe :nixweiss:
My first thought also Charlie. Look cool on a parking lot at a cruise-in. Any other time have them shut off. Too much of a good thing. But if you're into that, it would look cool and it does complete the ensemble of digital gauges and frame LED's. Even at $250.00 pair, kinda pricey. I like the uniqueness, Not my thing, but I know Melanie's going to want them ;D

Looks good....2 questions.....are those holes there when you buy the TP or do you have to make them to mount the stock pad?? And is the lower pad Corbin also??
TP is looking really great JC. Can't wait to see how the solo looks on the scoot. Terrie's bike looks superb as well. I sure do envy a guy who can keep his better half happy with bike mods.
Had the cat removed and the Fullsac 1.75 baffles, the TTS tuner and the new Fueling 574 cams. My dyno sheet can be seen here.... http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=44545.0
Torque looks great and it has a smooth curve but the HP appears to come on pretty late in the RPM range.
Sounds like the ride test felt better than the chart? :2vrolijk_21:
I got the solo tour pack rack on tonight but pics are going to have to wait.
Were gonna have to wait, man your killing us.. :nixweiss:
We rode up to Ione for lunch....
JC - that's a couple of fine lookin' rides! Glad you got the performance improvements you were looking for!
Great shots, good idea on the Icoms!
JC the bikes looking great, just one thing I see is missing ( tour pak Hinges ) :huepfenlol2:
JC the bikes looking great, just one thing I see is missing ( tour pak Hinges ) :huepfenlol2:
No, it has hinges.......and they work just fine I think. I've never really noticed them before, but the lid opens and closes just fine! :2vrolijk_21:My sentiments exactly. :2vrolijk_21: ;D
Beautiful bikes... I might be moving back to CALI after 16 years abroad, so if i do (90% chance), then i would love to come up there and join you guys some time.... cheers and Happy Holidays all around..
If you do, let us know. There's also a So Cal group that get together and ride, too. Sometimes we all get together. :2vrolijk_21:
another angle.....
Liked the solo TP better on my SEEG.Seems the one I have on the SESG sits higher off the fender.
Your eyes really catch the wheels when you look at the bike now. All chrome should have at least been a factory option, but then we wouldn't need to spend more money!
Yea, I don't think a black wheel on three bikes that don't have any black was an accident. I think that little error was by design......just to get us to spend more $$$$. :nixweiss:???But there was black on your bike at one time. The blue looks better with chrome I think, but the morgan carries the black and chrome better. I think Ill keep mine the way it is for now. Besides I got a tour pak I am gonna need pretty quick. Then cams, then heads, Ah man this will never end. I bought this cause it had everthing. Then I found this site and the JCZ thread :D
For a few, fortunately, they like that mismatched look and they'll not have to consider other options. The agitator wheels in all chrome would have been nice.
JC
You have a good eye for detail, those scoots look great.
Good flow on both, and doesn't have BS mods. Everything I see compliments the look.
Good job!
You guys will be happy to know.........a set of calipers are off to the chrome plater.
The SERG calipers aren't chrome.....they're kind of silver. So Jim had a set on the shelf and they're off to the plater. Still going to trade Jim (Jim Glide) so that he can have the black calipers to match his new wheels.
Ah, not sure now.
Could you put the black back on so I can see them again?
They look really nice, the finishing touch!!
JC-
If you don't mind, what was the cost to have those calibers chromed? Looks awesome!!!
JC dealer told me bolts for 2010 were not out yet..........do you have a part number kind sir...........front caliper kit
I agree............they are only bolts.........chrome bolts...........
$200 for the pair. By the way, bolts are on order.....they'll be chromed also. :2vrolijk_21:
Here you can see how the back of the pad looks where it meets the top of the tour pack.
 I just looked at the pics and didn't notice the radio---Looks really good.
.....another project on the list.
Is there anything special about these bolts, other than they have a 12pt head?
I didn't see a grade mark on them ... why can't you just replace them with 12pt equivalents in chrome?
d00d - thoughts?
hd-dude - anything special here?
Brake Caliper bolts i assume? If so nothing special. I bought some from HD and sent them out to be chromed.
Yeah ... brake caliper bolts.
I can score 12pt bolts locally in chrome so was wondering if there is something proprietary about them that forces me to have the stock ones chromed. Haven't pulled mine off yet to check thread pitch. Anything about the size or pitch special that you know of?
They are metric but do not know the pitch off the top of my head. I can check when back at the shop tomorrow.
Figures ... I can only get SAE locally :(
Makes sense now why they need to be sent out, I can't find 12 point chrome metric bolts anywhere.
If you get a chance I'd appreciate any info you can provide.
The sun finally came out this past week. Got some picks of my wheels in the sun....Bling, bling!!!! :2vrolijk_21:

can u tell me the part # of the latch accent? i have thoroughly enjoys this thread. my candy concord comes in soon, i hope:)
I met a lady (Susan) today at Eagle's Nest Harley Davidson in Lathrop. She has a 10 SESG in Tequilla Sunrise with 11 miles on it and she's shopping for chrome bolts for the entire motor! Gave her a card for the forum here.....if she's joins here, she might be a hard act to follow at the rate she's going. :2vrolijk_21:
These are what I have..... http://www.dragspecialties.com/fatbook/19/369/7707082
Jim made progress this afternoon. This pic shows the color matched Hog Pods.....
And while you'll quickly recognize the Dakota Digital gauges take a closer look and you'll notice the lense of the stereo is also in blue rather than the stock red. Yes, it's the stock stereo with a lighting conversion. Had to do it! :2vrolijk_21:
Oh.........forgot to say...........I got the chrome bolts put in my brake calipers while I was at Jim's yesterday!
New tire on the back (9,765 miles). The brake pads were down to about 25% so I just had them replace the pads at the same time.....no labor on that. :2vrolijk_21:
And did I say that I put that 9,765 miles on in just under six months! :2vrolijk_21: Anybody else got more miles on their SESG?
I thought you were a fan of Hawg wired, not hogtunes?
I'm sure you did...you overachiever you! ;) ;D

This one shows the saddle bag latch trim detail. Jim hand painted the black accent groves a light blue to match the pin stripped flames. He did a lot better job than I ever could have done. :2vrolijk_21:jc i bought these also do you have to take the black off or just paint over them in blue does harley sell touch up paint in the light blue pinstripe color thanks terry

I would suggest you contact JCZ's Corbin guru and have him order for you and ship to you. Looks like you would save big money...
Very very impressive and awsome photography.
seems that corbin has actually problems in doing good quality , can you agree ?
I should wait a little time ( i was told )
So you think that it would cause no problem when ordering just a black leather solo with heat and backrest and passenger pillon ?
No extras -no problems ?
Question: What is the p/n for the Engine Guard need to put on the lowers for the SG ?
thanks
No hurry, I have been looking at the HD part's most of tonight and can't find one.. they seem to be not listed for SG, not sure if it is under a different model etc...
I think you'd be safe with that order. I'd suggest that you order it from Jim (hd-dude) primarily because he knows CVOs and the issues of concern as far as the Corbin seats go. And, he'll give you a discount, also. :2vrolijk_21:

Looks good..I have 2 questiuons for ya. What is the part # for the lic plate frame--I NEED THAT ON MINE!!!!! I found lic plate frames on the site, but not the one with the LED'sDo you have pictures of the covers and where you got them?
and--are you going to do the magnetic covers for the docking hardware? I put those on mine and it covers them up nicely.
Do you have pictures of the covers and where you got them?
Was at a dealer yesterday scoping out a '10 SESG and they were trying to tell me that the only way to get the Tourpak on is to change the taillights (would obviously not do that) and hard mount it.
JC--I'm new on here and gotta say thanks for all your posting on this website; I've spent a lot of time looking at your stuff (mods and postings from your trips) over the past few days. Nice work!
Could you (and maybe HD-Dude) help me out with something? Was at a dealer yesterday scoping out a '10 SESG and they were trying to tell me that the only way to get the Tourpak on is to change the taillights (would obviously not do that) and hard mount it.
How, exactly, did you do your set up? And can you tell me (to the best of your knowledge) all of the parts involved? I see that you have the four-point hardware... Did you hard mount the Tourpak to a quick-detach rack?
I would just start out with the tourpak on the bike for 2-up riding on longer trips.
Thanks in advance.
just reread parts of your post just amazing whats next. how many miles you got so far. again great mods im gonna feel guilty for copying your solo seat and backrest.

No mods for awhile now. Is there anything that I've missed or forgotten? :nixweiss:How about some performance exhaust, header pipes and mufflers. Maybe Vance&Hines power duals with their Hi Output slip ons. Just a thought. I know you do your research and buy the best stuff, so just waiting to see what you change to. :coolblue:

I have been reading through this thread for an hour, and haven't found the answer to the question asked about the flames pinstripping on the KTP, did it come that way? :nixweiss: BTW your mods have helped with keeping my wallet empty I have been borrowing a few of your ideas, keep up the great work :2vrolijk_21:
JCZ ,
Trying to come up with handlebar replacement. Question for you is on the Flanders and Wild 1 web sites they list the Streetglide bars as the following and this is what I come up with measuring my stock bars:
FLHX/I/SE Street Glide / CVO 2006 - 2010 rise- 7-1/2" width -31" pull back 12-1/2" center -11-1/2" clamp area - 2-1/2" x 4-1/2"
When I go to the specs on the Harley site for your replacement bars the specs seem the same as above for rise and pullback .( except it seems to me HD has the rise and Pull Back switched in the chart since they claim the rise is 12.5 and the pull back is 7.5.
56176-08 width - 30.75" base width 15.25" pullback -7.50" knurl -3.50" rise -12.25"
Can you tell what the real specs are on your replacement bars? My dealer has said that the touring pull back bars will give me 2" closer but no addition height.
Thanks in advance.
Dave
Hi JCZ
Went against my word to keep away from this post.
How come you went with the pull back bars - i read that you stand 6'4". Did the corbin set you back in the seat? I'm looking to change my bars and looks as though you know may have insight on this matter.
Cheers
Mal I know - and I think that everyone else know's except for my squeeze Max who as yet does not know. Max still thinks the bike cost the same as a new VW golf :pepper:
I have the same KTP..and yes..the flames come that way from the MoCo.Thanks I ordered the KTP Spiced Rum and was hoping the flames were included. :2vrolijk_21:
Thanks I ordered the KTP Spiced Rum and was hoping the flames were included. :2vrolijk_21:
ha... that is fuggin hysterical!!... I was in Kansas City all last week, while the UPS dude brought box after box of goodies (J&M speakers and amp, Freedom 7" shield, Motorcycle Armor bag lid protectors)... I get home and my wife says to me... "how much does all this cost?"... I respond " waaay less than that Louis Vitton bag that showed up last week!" Not another word.
Now that is classic!
I'm in the pool this morning doing some laps thinking mods. What comes to mind? Dakota digital's on a spiced rum inner fairing and so I'm wondering how come I was happy when I bought the bike and now there's things missing. Then it dawns on me that it's JCZ and his best buddy TEMPTATION who's going to take blame when I get in trouble with Max. Maladjusted was right this is a baad place.
This may not work so well for a short rider. Keep in mind that I'm 6'4". A shorter rider may have to use the Corbin back rest (the tour pack has a mount location about another inch or so back). For this purpose, I have it mounted in the forward position.I am thinking of ordering the same KTP pad, do you have the part number, and did it require any additional mounting holes to be drilled? The factory middle mounting holes are off center as you know, and I am not sure if I want to start drilling more holes.
Jon's very short so while he really liked the touring pull back bars, he didn't get to experience riding while resting agains the tour pack like I do.

Does the Corbin solo seat sit lower?
Yes, you sit a bit lower (maybe an inch) and back a bit from stock position (unless you order the close reach seat).Another difference between ordering from Hd-Dude. Mine sits about an inch higher. But I have the heated seat. I should have had them take another inch off it

Interesting......maybe I'm getting older faster than I realized. :nixweiss: They're all made from the same mold and I didn't have any taken off and I've got the heated pad also. But if you take the Corbin and sit it on your garage floor next to your stock seat, I believe the Corbin is lower and back.I've the same experience as TJ... I'm slightly higher and slightly further back. 6'1". The Corbin is firmer than the stock seat and (1) doesn't compress like the the stock and (2) doesn't have that weak pan that drops into the space underneath... I love my Corbin and am grateful I waited on bars until the Corbin was on.
I'm 6'4" so I noticed it to be a much more relaxed feel in the riding position. :2vrolijk_21:

When I was at Corbin I asked to have at least a quarter inch taken off and you'd have thought I was asking for the moon. I'll get down to the lock, you'll have to pay for a recover cause it will look to bad, etc. I finally just gave up about it. I Can reach good enough. If I get back there they will fix it. If I have to pay for a recover, fine. I wont get back till next year unless something happens that I have to ride down near. ;)

Since I was getting the compensator replaced under warranty.......decided to have them R&R the inner primary with a chrome one
Since I was getting the compensator replaced under warranty.......decided to have them R&R the inner primary with a chrome one.
Since I was getting the compensator replaced under warranty.......decided to have them R&R the inner primary with a chrome one.I think I need a new one also. What happened that made you think the compensator was bad? Mines making a knock when I shut it off and when I take off at an uphill stop light.
Hmmm.....seems to me that money could have gone towards the Key West fund..... :P :drink:
I think I need a new one also. What happened that made you think the compensator was bad? Mines making a knock when I shut it off and when I take off at an uphill stop light.
As posted in the Twin Cam section.....my wife's 09 Street Glide had a noise in the primary. The run out was .0015 out so they replaced the motor. When we picked it up two weeks later and brought it home I thought I heard a noise coming from my primary......although different from the noise her's was making. And mine wasn't constant and I could barely hear it. I tried to convince myself that I was imagining it. Had my wife come out to the garage and she heard it.
Took it to the dealership the next day but couldn't get it to duplicate. Told them "go ahead and pull the primary.....if you guys don't find anything, I'll covr the half hour of labor.....more than just me has heard the noise". They called me the next day and told me that I had a bad compesator. Supposedly, this is the upgraded one, but they told me that they've had a few of the 110's in there with this problem. :nixweiss:
:huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2: $300 wasn't going to cover the first night for the suite. :nixweiss:
Warranty........I just paid $300 for the inner....everything else was covered under warranty. And........I get to keep the inner! :2vrolijk_21:
What kind of noise was it making??
:o I must have gotten the wrong room......... :P
Hers or mine? Both different but not sure how to describe a noise or a sound. Let me just say that both sounded different from the norm.
I've got a whining noise coming from my primary and the dealer says it might just be that the chain tensioner is a bit tight, but says all is OK.....but it bothers me. I don't want anything worse to happen...but on the other hand if it blows up it is under warranty.
Went over to Jim's today. He installed the chrome calipers for me......thanks Jim.
What do you guys think? I think it's much better now! :2vrolijk_21:
I know it's dirty.........rode in the rain several times today. :nixweiss:
While we are on the compensator, can anyone confirm that the 2011's do indeed come with the upgraded version?
Some of you know that on our return from Ariz. Bike Week a few weeks back I heard a noise....sounded like top end, maybe valve train noise. Not to concerned since I've read many complaints of that from other 110" owners....I just thought it took me 30,000 miles to get there.
Three weeks ago we headed to L.A. and I heard a totally different noise.....it didn't sound good. Took it to Jim and he confirmed that "yes, there's definately something going on in there.....better get it checked out".
Took it to the dealership and they told me "that's normal for a 110". I told them "it might be normal for your 110, I put 30,000 miles on my bike and I'm telling you that is not normal". They pulled the heads and cylinders the next day and the rods stayed standing stright up. They called the MoCo and ws authorized a rebuild to include new flywheels amongst other parts.
I talked to them.....and after a warning that they'd no longer be warrantied, I took the flywheels to the machine shop to get them plugged, welded and balanced. I also told them that I wanted the temking bearing conversion done so I had to pay for that as well. The MoCo paid for all the other parts and labor. Hopefully, I'll have a motor that will run more than another 30k miles.
The dealership had a very fast turn around and I've already begun the break in miles. :2vrolijk_21:

Just got home from San Jose......have about 350 miles on it now. Also got it on the dyno.....no significant changes there. All the strange noises (including those that I thought were valave train noise, when we returned from Ariz. Bike week) are gone. :2vrolijk_21:
Looks good..I have 2 questiuons for ya. What is the part # for the lic plate frame--I NEED THAT ON MINE!!!!! I found lic plate frames on the site, but not the one with the LED's
and--are you going to do the magnetic covers for the docking hardware? I put those on mine and it covers them up nicely.
:huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2: In another post I saw where somebody said something about 400 miles being a good weekend ride. I thought to myself "yep...would be....for some. For the rest of us it'd be a good day ride".
It seems to be fine. I've cranked it on up there a couple of times....everything seems fine at this point. But I'll take a wait and see attitude. Going for an oil change after work tomorrow.
For the record....I believe an extended warranty is money well spent! :2vrolijk_21:
JCZ,
This thread is 48 pages in length with 700+ posts. Perhaps a Table of Contents at the beginning would be useful for those who may not be regular readers/followers--just a suggestion.

JCZ,this post also caused us to spend lots of $$$$$$$$ thanks alot :2vrolijk_21:

Your bike looks amazing JC. I love the fact that it is a "work in progress" project, as there is always something to make it just a little nicer of a ride. I'm sure someday you will get around to replacing those hinges. ;DKeep up the great work!

.... On that note.......Terrie and I are riding with our tour packs on and empty. Just to work up to being totally comfortable with the loaded down bikes when we tour later this summer. You guys know how it gets at the end of a very long day in the saddle and we're not getting any younger or stronger. So we're getting in shape for it. :2vrolijk_21:Great idea!!! :2vrolijk_21: Something most of us don't think about and is definitely something to get used to if you don't have a permanently mounted TP. I remember the first time I rode my bike with the KTP on I was leaving for Sturgis in '04. This was my first motorcycle trip and of course I packed to much :zstupid:... the difference of the bike weighed down, a lot of the weight behind the rear axle made for a very scary feeling until I got used to the difference. If you would have asked me the first couple miles of that trip I would have sworn the front wheel wasn't on the ground. It's a whole different animal when weight is distributed differently w/a loaded KTP.

I'm not so optamistic. The hinges just aren't an issue for me. I never notice them on anybody else' bike unless they tell me "I got the billet hinges". My thinking is kind of like Fire d00d's.....to little return for the $ and the time and it's not going to increase my comfort or safety. :nixweiss:
Seriously guys......my bike doesn't always look this nice. Even though it's been a few weeks and a couple thousand miles on it since it was washed last, my bike has looked much, much worse and will again. I ride it! And if it's pouring rain and I get caught in it.....I keep riding.....sometimes hundreds of miles. It's definately not garage jewlery!
No Face......this is my last one. If there's another new bike in my future, it'll probably be a trike because I just got to damn old to hold this one up. Geez Gary - you shoulda left the bunker gear home :nixweiss:I probably could've stuffed them in all the bags I had on the bike. :shocked2:...

Gary......you're ruining your image. Most of us know where that picture was taken and you have an image that you never ride. You must have trailered, right. :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2:Well you know some people believe everything they read on the internet and don't know the truth. ;)

Had to ask since New River Gorge..you spent 3 days telling me you weren't really there...That's right ;)... never know where the "mystery guest" will show up. :D :D
I probably could've stuffed them in all the bags I had on the bike. :shocked2:...
It sure does... needless to say I think that experience was the foundation of me not liking the KTP on the bike. It's a whole 'nother animal with it on... and especially if you overpack it. :(
That top bag really throws the center of gravity out, eh? Your size maybe not so bad, my size with a passenger and you really feel it.
