Title: Cozumel Harley Rental
Post by: hard10 on July 26, 2008, 11:58:46 AM
At the encouragement of my friends Craig & Martha, Linda & I rented a Sportster while in Cozumel last week. Rather than booking with the cruise line, we went direct to:   Sand Dollar Sports (http://www.sanddollarsports.net/sd_harleys.php[/url) and saved a few dollars.  We had a great time riding around the island. As Craig has stated, if you get the opportunity to visit the island, this is a tour you don't want to miss. The tour guides, Omar & Gabriel, were outstanding hosts. They meet us at the ship and we took a cab to their parking lot. There we chose our bike for the five hour tour and did a few warm up laps around the parking lot. Then it was off to see the island.

The tour has Omar on a Sportster leading and Gabriel in a chase vehicle carrying drinks and a place to stow bags. We were the only ones that had signed up for the excursion that day so we were a little spoiled.

There were a lot of places to shop on this island if one cared to.

This was our 1st stop. The Cedral is the first town established by Mayan's on the island.

When we got to the lighthouse, my first thought was "Thank goodness I don't have MY SEUC to ride on this road.

We're standing in front of a "building" that the Mayan's used to tell the weather. If the wind was strong, it would blow through this dome and make a noise altering them that there was a storm coming.

OK, last one: Our tour guides Omar & Gabriel. They did a superb job of accommodating us.
I had told Linda to be sure and take lots of pictures. She took almost 400. Hope you enjoyed them.

Great pictures AJ.  Looks kind of familiar!  Glad you guys had a great time.  I just can't say enough good things about the people of Cozumel.  We love that place.  Gabriel and Omar are really great too and it worked out great for you guys being the only ones on the tour.

Are there any new pictures in the photo album at Coconuts?

Also, Martha wants to know if they had the new T-Shirts available yet.

YES! I was quite surprised that there were. The had date stamps for a few days prior.

I didn't see any. I guess the hurricane hit them pretty hard and they're still recovering.

Gary,

For sure, Coconuts is your kind of place.  Great scenery to be had (ocean and tourists!)  It's one of those places that you can just sit and drink taking it all in for hours!

I take it you did not go all the way around the island, but doubled back.?

I think it was about $300 for two of us. Book the reservations directly though. It's much cheaper and is the SAME tour.

great spot, I have dove that area many times and love it. There is a great restaurant called the Aquarium that has live sharks in the back in tanks. Also Carlos & Charlies is a blast. I did the same type of trip as you did in the Caymans many years ago.

Sorry,

My bike is a Kawasaki ER500. I found this site through googling for Cozumel Harley Rentals, and had to join to be able to ask the question.

I've been to Coz twice a year now since 96, but for diving. I use a scooter to get around normally.
In fact the place they keep the bikes is next door to my hotel. :-)

I did a similar tour in Ketchikan last year, on an Alaskan cruise.  Shorter, but fantastic scenery and a very good guide.  Also a nice change from the herds of people on the cruise ship.

Maybe I should post this on stupid things I've done lately.  Only problem I had was, 30 seconds into the ride we stopped at a traffic light (maybe the only one in town?) and my pant leg got hung on the foot peg.  Crunch, down on the left side.

Whilst I am not a sports bike person (only passed my test last year), I do prefer a more sit upright position when riding. More of a touring position.

I do have two dive buddies with Harleys, one has two to himself, so I could visit him and use one of his, but I understand you Harley owners are VERY protective of your bikes. :-)
