Exhaust heat Shield Spacer
« on: October 04, 2021, 10:39:59 PM »

I installed a Fullsac Head Pipe,  and the factory heat shields are very close to the pipes. The heat makes my bike uncomfortable to ride when the weather is warm. In previous post I outlined my 131 build which is using the SE tuner and Auto Tune. I finally realized the majority of the heat is from the pipes. I want to put  a single layer of exhaust insulating wrap as well as move the  Shields further away from the actual pipes. Does anyone make spacers ?

DEI makes excellent products. I almost quit riding when I had my 09 SERG due to the heat, I had the complete Fullsac system, it was professionally tuned and still so much heat we both hated to ride it. Finally I wrapped the pipe with DEI's best from just below the port to the crossover. Made a huge difference. Everyone seemed to enjoy telling me it was going to make the pipe rust, which I didn't care about. It did make the bike alot more comfortable and I rode it alot more. But the guy who bought it removed the wrap the first weekend he had it to prevent rust and he thought it was not a Harley "look". Saw him a year later, he was complaining about the heat and how miserable it was to ride in the summer. To each his own.

A professionally tuned 09 SERG with a complete Fulsac system will not run HOT.. You need to find another Tuner.

I agree about the tunes. I would look into the engine sumping. This seems to be a leading indicator (heat) along with declining gas mileage.

Wish I was!  Cost of getting them here is silly.
