Procedure for removing the gas tank on 2011 Convertible
« on: October 20, 2010, 11:10:51 AM »

For those that want to add electrical mods requiring removal of the gas tank, here is a pretty much tried and proven procedure that will leave the bike intact and your frame of mind on an even plane............

Good luck!    Pork.

Big apology needed here......I just verified the procedure for removing the gas tank for the FLSTSE2 last night and realized a few flaws in the procedure.  Biggest one is that you do not need to disconnect the power to remove the tank.  You may wish to but it is not required.  also, there are 2 sizes of allen wrenches required for the dash console.  And you must remove the windshield to have room to relocate the console.  Hopefully this new one will work for you as well.  I have just modified the previous attachment so the 19 people who downloaded it need to redownload(?) it.....   Sorry for the inconvience.  Pork

Procedure for removing gas tank on 2010 Convertible

here is an updated procedure that should work for removing the gas tank on the 2010 convertible.  As with the 2011 model, it is not necessary to disconnect the power if you just want to remove the tank for access to the mechanics underneath.  If you need to disconnect the power, that info is in the owner's manual.  (In a nutshell, you need to have the fob with you, turn the ignition on (headlight on) and disconnect the battery negative terminal.  That way it knows you are a friendly and the alarm doesn't go ape!)  Hope it works for you.  Pork
