I picked up this bike last year on Craigslist. I hadn't owned a Harley for over 10 years, as I got into Adventure riding, BMW GS, KTM 950etc. The owner didn't know what had been done to the engine, and all I knew was it was a little noisy and ran like a scalded dog. I started out with a little suspension work, Ohlins from Dan Kyle racing and a set of monotubes up front. I raised the bike back up to stock electraglide height. Well, the noisy engine got really loud last month, so I decided to investigate. I took it to a friend of mines shop to check it out. The good news was the heads were in good shape, with a really nice port job, the bad news was that was all that was good! Cracked cases, cylinders already .010 over, and the crankpin out of it. WHEW!!!!! Soooo, in goes a S&S 124 crate along with an HPI intake and injectors, scorpion clutch, and a new supermeg pipe. After I get the engine heat-cycled, it will be going to C&S speedshop for breakin and tuning.

Sounds like you have built a serious "cruiser." Enjoy the ride!

That's a lot of expense after the fact - hope the deal worked out for you... Please keep us posted on the renovation.

Yes it is. I bought the bike right, really right. I still didn't plan on spending this much, but wasn't left with a lot of choices. I felt better doing the crate engine than repairing my cases, doing the left bearing upgrade etc. I will piece the original engine back together over time, but back to stock. I made the decision that the bike was a keeper right after I bought it. I wanted this bike sooo bad back in '04, but it was just out of my price range back then. Now that I could afford a new CVO this was much more appealing to me. I have a few bikes, and like to do different types of riding. The adventure bike thing has a Strong pull for me. Rode my GS to Nova Scotia a few years ago, and trying to get to Prudhoe Bay this year. The wife likes the H-D, and maker a nice cruiser for us. This bike had really low miles, and is cosmetically a 9/10. I have really been eyeballing a sidecar for it, and I think the 124 would make it a really good tug.

Just got the dyno results. I'm hoping it warms up a few degrees to get some seat time.
