Connector disassembly
« on: August 13, 2014, 11:23:52 AM »

I've taken apart several molex connectors but not sure how this type comes apart. It's part of my led light bar on my tour pak. Any one know?

for me what usually happens is i watch the video, think to myself, 'self, this can't be too bad'.  then i go out and futz with it for about an hour to an hour and a half.  then i get frustrated, give up, go back inside.  take a break for a few minutes and then go out and try again.  only this time, it seems like it just falls right out with no hassle.

repeat for the next pin........  ::)

Got all the pieces in to do the tour pak light mod. After installing 3 wires into the AMP Multilock I decided to double check where I was putting the wires. Sure enough I was doing it bass ackwards. Fought with those damn pins for an hour then found this thread. I got 2 of the 3 pins out. No way was the last one cooperating. Had to snip the wire. Off to the dealer tomorrow for another connector and then beg them for a new pin and hopefully sweet talk them into crimping it on the wire for me. Man, I hate being all thumbs. Yep, I double checked the position of the plug before I started, got interrupted then the mistake happened.

The video was good. Hope I never have a need to watch it again. He makes it look so easy.

They can be a bit perplexing on the first go around. Comes in handy when you need to do certain electrical additions or tear up parts of a harness.

I found it amazing how much better a straightened out paper clip with a very sharp end on it works as opposed to one with a dull, blunt end on certain connectors!, lol,,,I imagine the right tool would work even better! hahaha :2vrolijk_21:
