Title: Wild Hogs, The Movie

Probably the wrong board for this, so feel free to move where appropriate.

That could be a good movie at least for a no brainer time waster, which is the way I like my movies.

Probably wait for the DVD though.  Too damned expensive to hit the theater, I can get some OCD fix for that kind of money.

Wild Hogs, seen a long trailer of today in theater and looked good. Exspensive?  Cost me $9.00 for the two of us today to see DaJavue. Would recomend it. I have heard of some theaters are jacking up the prices in the big city.

I used to. Not sure what's up with him the past two or three years. Is it the Scientology thing ? I mean Isaac Hayes, if ever there was a cool dude, freaked out at the South Park folks and quit because they picked on Scientology although it was OK when they picked on every other religion. To each his own I say, but it would seem there's some cult style chit goin on with the whole Scientology thing. Anyway, I wish they'd included Damon Wayons,Jeff Goldblum, Jackie Chan, Chris Rock, Eddie Murphy, maybe even Mickey Rourke for laughs. William H. Macy I'm sure will be good as the nerdy guy, Tim Allen funny as the funny guy, Martin Lawrence just being Martin Lawrence is always a sure thing but Travolta plain creeps me out lately.

I received an email today from the local HOG chapter indicating that local Malcos may be putting some kind of promotion together to have HOG members view the movie.  I'm sure that it would be good (free) advertising to have the local news cover a bunch of Harley owners riding in to see the movie.  It sounds like a good excuse to ride whether the movie is any good or not.

Here on Oahu they are having a Movie Premiere for all HOG member for free on Sunday the 25th and they are hoping to have 150+ bike to ride in formation to the premiere. This sounds like a good time and the price is right.

Free might be the right price.  It looks like one of those movies that might be a disappointment.  My guess is that you've seen the best of the show in the previews.

Saw the movie on Monday at a special showing, with a bunch of HOG members from our chapter.  It's very funny with a lot of scenes that you might be able to relate to.  If you like the actors that are in the movie and you are familiar with their work, you'll like it.  If you are going to go and over analize it then you probably won't.  Plus, Travolta rides and SE Fatboy, so that was cool.   Let's Roll

Looks like a good movie; maybe for the brain dead. Martin & Tim should make the movie funny. Tuttle's make an appearance also. Our local HOG chapter is planning a dinner and off to the movie next Saturday; however, the Cleveland weather will make sure they ride in cages. I will be in Key West riding my butt off.

Can you believe those assholes at Malco? They wanted $1,000. plus full price for every person attending. Local HOG chapter told them where to go and I agree. Luckily I'm out of town for a couple of weeks and will catch it away from having to give Malco any business. I think from now on I will stick to cable because I fed up with $10.00 rubber popcorn. F--- Malco!

What was the $1k supposed to be for MJ?  It was a national early showing the other night so they shouldn't have been doing anything extra.  The theater chain just looking to take advantage or is there more going on?

USATODAY really ripped into the movie in todays issue. I guess that reviewer didn't like it. I pretty much don't pay attention to critics much since I got burned by "Howard's End".

Call me cheap, I've been on the boycot program for some time now.  All these movies come out on DVD in do time anyway or show up on cable/payperview.

Now that I think of it, I don't even do either of those that often.  Only when something appears to be a run away hit.  Otherwise I'd rather watch the "Outdoor Channel" or "SPEED".

There is a pretty good site for checking out movies.  It's called Rotten Tomatoes (http://www.rottentomatoes.com (http://www.rottentomatoes.com)) and they show the opinions of critics and the opinions of regular viewers.  The critics only gave the movie a rating of 18 (rotten).  I saw it tonight and I'd have to give it something in the 85 to 95 range (fresh).  I think that anyone that rides or knows someone who rides would have to enjoy the show.

Saw it last night with a group of 10 other riders, most of which I have taken long trips with. We laughed our a$$es off.

When the GPS came out, our group really went nuts and all turned around to laugh looking at me, since I'm the route planner in our group. An unfortunate side-effect of the movie is that I may now be nicknamed Dudley.

You know, you folks are friends and friends should be able to say what they feel, so I'm gonna say this and if anyone thinks I'm a bit off, then so be it.
I've been riding for 40 years. In those 40 years, I've owned every kind of motorcycle imaginable. I've been an outlaw biker,President of one club and an officer in another.  I've been an officer and newsletter editor of a biker rights organization. I've built and sold custom bikes. I've ridden Atlantic to Pacific and back more times than I can remember and just about everywhere in between. I've ridden motorcycles in Hawaii, Japan, Mexico and Canada. I went to Sturgis my first time in 1985 and have been back 5 more times. Went to Daytona every year from 1984 to 1997. I went to Laconia every year from 1969 till I moved to California in 1998. I've had more fun, met more good people, shared more life, love and laughter than most people do in 6 lifetimes. And yet, nobody wants to make a movie about me or my life. I'm nobody's hero or screen idol. I'm just a broken down biker still doing his thing and tryin to figure out what it all means. So I guess it bugs me that an idiot like John Travolta who believes that the earth was colonized by aliens making 10 million or so by pretending to be a biker. Travolta puts all his time and money into aircraft, that's his thing. Also, I don't picture Bill Macey as the motorcycle type. Somehow I think Martin Lawrence is into other things and everyone knows Tim Allen is a car guy. They could have made this movie with Peter Fonda, Jay Leno, Mickey Jones and Will Smith ( I've heard he loves bikes)
I'm with Roger on this one. It isn't about what $20 is to me so much as it's putting money into the whole Hollywood machine. Sometimes I stand on principals that don't mean anything to anyone but me. I understand that and accept whatever criticism I get from this post.

Don't think you're a bit off at all B B! That's why I don't go to see those things. Looking at wannabe bikers making fun of my lifestyle doesn't exactly make me wanna run to a theater and support these flicks! You go back as far as me (Old Man). We've been saying this since the mid '90's, "Before they all used to hate us. Now they all wanna be like us!" Up until then they just hated us. I liked it better that way! ;) Hoist! 8)

What exactly makes a "wannabe biker" or a "Real Biker"

I'm assuming you're meaning "wannabe" as "RUB" or "Yuppie Biker"

Is a "real biker" a 1%r? That has his girl wear "Property Of" on her back?

All the old school "Real Bikers" I know won't buy the new Harley's

So who's buying them?? Real or Fake Bikers

This is very confusing to me, because I'm a motorcyclist that enjoys the sport, not the stereotypical image.  I don't need a vest or patch, I don't need to act like an adult adolescent when all my club buddies are present.

So I guess I'm not a "Real Biker", "RUB" or "Yuppie Biker"

I'm just happy to be a Real Motorcyclist.

The "Wannabe" & "Real Biker" moniker just needs an answer I guess. Is it in the wikipedia?

Anne and I rode the Ultra to the movie this afternoon...personally, the vulture stole the show for me...was pretty good and I even laughed out loud...was also the only bike in the lot...but what did that really mean...that I was stupid enough to waste two beautiful hours of sunshine in a theater...or that we did a little ridin' and a little entertainin' then a little more ridin' and then a few adult beverages at Curly's ...then a little more Ridin' home

It's pretty simple. People who ride and love to ride their motorcycles are bikers. Any kind of bike. Any kind of riding. Real Motorcyclist as you call it. Didn't mean to hit a sore spot Mark. I just get a little tired of seeing it be made Hollywood because it's popular now. OCC, goofy movies. My life's always involved riding motorcycles. Just having one won't make anyone a biker. Hoist! 8)

Why would anyone think I'm talking about anyone here. I find that everyone here loves their bikes and loves riding them, more than most. That's why I hang around here in the first place.

Mark,
Not that anybody appointed me chief judge of all bikerdom, and not that I imagine you give a damn what anybody thinks, but in my book, you're a biker. I've seen you ride dude and ride you can - - - - with anybody I've ever ridden with. In my book, that makes you a biker. All the rest is just the pre-game. Either you can ride or you can't. If you can't, you're a never-gonna-be.

Thanks for that Mark. I was just a little upset that you might have thought that was aimed at anyone in particular, and certainly no one here. I like everyone I interact with here and think this place has the most real people and real bikers anywhere. Those movies just get my goat a little. I'm happy you posted. Thanks for that Mark. I was just a little upset that you might have thought that was aimed at anyone in particular, and certainly no one here. I like everyone I interact with here and think this place has the most real people and real bikers anywhere. Those movies just get my goat a little. I'm happy you posted. I'd hate to think anyone here would be upset by that! Hoist! 8)

Here, have a cyber shot on me :drink: All is good  :) :2vrolijk_21:

Nobody has to appoint you chief judge of all bikerdome, because you ARE Cheif Judge of All Bikerdome :huepfenlol2:

Thanks for your compliments B B. I wasn't looking for an answer about me. And the post wasn't an attack in any way. Sorry it was taken that way. I was just looking for an answer for the real biker and wannabe debate. It's just that we & I have had some real issues with some club members that are a bunch of immature pussy ass pukes. Howie brought up the monikers so I just was looking for input. I started a thread about it in "other topics."

Take care,

Grover

Grover,
Hey you gotta be a biker, you've got your real name and your biker name  hahahahahahahah

Anyway, it's so weird, that you brought this all up. I got called a RUB by a couple of new patches in a local club that have no idea who/what I am today. Friend of mine started to set em straight and I stopped him. " this kinda chit amuses me to no end bro" I says. " let em think what they want to think, none of it matters to me any more"  And that's really the essence of it. It isn't about what anybody else thinks. Don't let any asshole with a 3 piece patch bother you my friend. I've been there, and if it was really what it's all about, I'd still be there. It isn't and I'm not. I am member of this website and a lot more sane and happy for it.

Big B

Well I've only seen the trailers on TV, but the thing that's got Beags, Hank, Cappy and my other riding bros out here laughing is that I got creamed by a bird on the way from Tombstone to Phoenix last year during AZ Bike Week. Sucker hit my mirror ass first ay 80 .I closed my eyes at the last minute. Me and Beags were in the front and the guys behind us said it looked like the bird exploded. All I know is that there was bird chit everywhere.

One of the HOG chapters put out that there was a ride after the HOG meeting to the theater to watch this movie.  My husband responded with "What?  It is the beginning of March, mid 60s or higher, who wants to sit in a theater?"  We actually missed the HOG meeting altogether - had to run to the HD store closest to us and buy a new battery.  We pulled the two bikes out, pulled them upright, I hit my starter and Jamey seemed to be struggling with something so I turned my bike back off to realize his bike was not starting.

(hanging my head -  :vrolijk_19: my bike is so loud I did not realise his bike was not running)  Jamey pulled out the old one while I ran to get a new battery.

Well since we were not going to meet up with the group we went out on our own and had a fantastic time.  Stopped at a HD shop on the way home, and got to get one of those handy dandy bags with a dinner plate and cutlery because I spent more than $300.  Like that is hard to do, right?

But re movie, unless next Saturday is a bad weather day - another HOG chapter has plans to see this movie as a bike riding group - discounted entrance fee - we will wait till it comes out on TV.  I like sitting in the comfort of my own home, watching on the big screen more than sittin in the theater.

Here in the snow covered area of Akron Ohio - we're taking about 10 of us and the wives to have a few beers and see the movie next Sat the 10th. I've seen all the trailers and I think I'm going to like it. The casting seems a little off ( I don't see these 4 guys being friends ) but who knows! And Ray Liotta as a bad guy? Ray - better hit the gym a few times if he want's to run with the boys around here! It takes a lot more than Ink and a vest. I'll write my review and post it next week

This boss and I went to see the movie Friday night (still too cold here to be riding much).

We really enjoyed it.  It has several funny "slapstick" moments to it.  I doubt if it will become a classic.  But, if your local deal positioned a few new bikes in the theatre lobby as ours did, it should sell some Harleys.

As bikers there are about a million things you could pick as unrealistic about the movie.  But it is supposed to be for entertainment, not a documentary and I was entertained.  So I give it a rating of "3/4 of a tank."  Don't miss any riding time to see it, but if you have time to kill on a rainy day or you have to take the wife out anyway (birthday in my case), its worth the price of admission.

Speaking of the price of admission.  Maybe my memory is bad, but it seem like back when I was in high school I could put gas in my truck, take my girl to the movie, and grab a couple of burgers afterwards for less than what one ticket costs now.   :confused5:  Oh well, I am sure my parents said the same thing everytime I asked to "borrow" ten bucks on Saturday night.

Later,
Ghost

This is what I call entertainment!  This movie is great for all..young and old.  I'm sure we all can find some part to relate to and other parts to just enjoy.  IMHO it's one of the better movies to come out in awhile, of course, how could you go wrong with a cast like this.  You gotta see this movie! :jalapeno:

Went to see the movie with the wife earlier this week...
It was fun...and she said " It makes me want to ride more"...Yeah!!!

I think she laughed more than I did...

I love the part when Peter Fonda shows up and says its about the ride...and tells
his boy to hit the road and get back in touch... I agree!!!

When I tell everyone I meet about the site...I tell them its a great group of people
who like to ride...and thats a bond that goes a long way!!!

My wife and I went to see Wild Hogs tonight. Very light hearted and not realistic, but was very enjoyable. Many laughs and a great movie for anyone that has an interest in bikes and the adventure of the open road. :2vrolijk_21:
