$3 per gallon for unleaded premium in south Florida as of yesterday.

I hate it, but if you believe in free market economies and supply and demand, then gas will, and should, continue to rise until more folks can't afford it, or otherwise don't buy it, than can.  Only then, when sales fall off, and gas stations are sitting with no customers, will there be any reason to lower prices.

We just got word that our homeowner's insurance will be cancelled--we've had no claims--this is getting  harder to find in Florida than gasoline, but similarly increasing in price.

BUT... At least we don't live in New Orleans.  That place, as it was, may be just a memory.

How are folks reacting to not being able to effectively or easily insure their properties?

That's too bad Red.  Another friend just sold his condo (had been a rental for 18 years) on Sanibel.  He had insurance when it got nailed twice in a month last year but couldn't get anything cost effective anymore.  Was easier to sell the property than mess with the hazards of Florida property ownership.  Doesn't bode well for many factors of property ownership.  Sorry you're having to fight the hassle.

Five Gal. of 114 Octane, "Blue Fuel", $25.23!  If it goes to $8.00 a Gallon, like Desani, what are you gonna' do?  I'll tell you what I'm gonna' do, I'll buy it!  My wheels have got to ROLL!  Later--HUBBARD

Just filled up my SEEG and it was over $15 and I only had 180 miles on the odometer.  Never did I think I'd be paying $3.61 per gallon for non-racing gas at a Exxon station not even near a Interstate.  I hate to think what they're charging on I-95 for a gallon of high-test gas right now.  Also, the stations in my home county are all out of gas and saying it may be as long as two weeks before the tanker trucks arrive with more gas.  Gonna have to 'hunker down' and save the gas for emergencies, I guess.  Aaarrrrrggh!   [smiley=furious.gif]  spyder
