I local station in Commerce , GA had Regular going for 5.87 and premium for 6.07!!!

They were reported to the officials , as  the govenor passed emergency legislation against price gouging.  They ( being of the midle asian country known for curry) reluctantly dropped it down to only 3.19 for regular

Sounds like the people of Commerce need to maintain a long memory of these people and their gouging.  No one need ever enter that station again until the little bastards are back home sewing buttons on counterfeit clothing.

Your response is not the most politically correct or sensitive answer,  but I feel EXACTLY the same way.

If they don't like it  "GO HOME" worship that COW!

Kinda like the two terroist having lunch in New York discussing plans for another attack on this country.

In a frenzy of excitement one starts speaking his native tongue and the other one stops him and say's,

"Stop that, We are in America now, speak Spanish!

It's really sad. Unless you are a bleeding heart liberal.

My 61 mile roundtrip commute while fun by bike will add up in the truck...I have been asked to join a future vanpool that would cut the commute in my vehicle down to 7 miles.  I may even plan to ride the '86 Honda Rebel all winter to the commuter lot!

Well, how about this...just got home and the local owner of a number of C-stores, an American, has chosen to lower gas prices.  As I left the C-store, he lowered his price from $3.19 to $3.05!!!

But let's be honest, isn't this is on the fine line between price gouging and entrepreneurship?

Good comments. No point me chiming in, it;s been pretty well covered. News media gets some blame in there as well for how they report the situation. Nothing like starting a panic in the name of free speech.

Was checking a local consumer gas website and was noticing the prices jumping this week. Had noticed as I filled the bike twice this week - first time Super was $2.89, second time it was $3.07.

I live about 60 miles from Austin and a local station near me last night was at #3.20 for SU. The one thing I did notice is all of the stations near me were out of regular unleaded. Not sure thow that is going to play for this weekend.

I filled up the bikes today.

I like that Cam ll  112 octane.
Has for the past year been $3.29 a gallon.
What a surprise [smiley=confused5.gif]
Now it's $4.59

Still beats the 76 race 100 octane gas for $5.99

grc, I hear you.  Please don't take my somewhat brutally objective stance as one of approval.  I'm just observing what's happening.  I mostly think we got ourselves into this mess.

If I thought the Government could program-in a real transition to less oil dependency I'd be all for it, but unfortunately, as you allude to, the government itself is heavily influenced by powerful lobbyists for a powerful oil industry that has much to lose by folks wising up and not needing nearly so much of the stuff.  And you're absolutely right about who will be disproportionately hurt.

Agree, again about the ME generation and greed.  But I don't look for the Government to ever change that--it must come from the population, themselves.  In order to gain entry into a government position of influence, one must be cut from the same cloth as those already there or they won't be invited to the party.  So I would rather see the population in general, outside of government, realize that gas is a major expense and one that should be minimized.  Change it from  a daily necessity to an occasional use item.

A tall order, for sure, but I really think we, the people must find ways to cut back on our consumption if we ever hope to stop complaining about how expensive gas is.  Then let the oil companies and the arab oil sheiks feel the pinch when their market dries up.

We travelled to Shatley Springs and Stations Inn today.
Those are two good stops off of the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Good food also!
Met Otis and Hubbard there along with the Otis/Hubbard contingent for some fun riding and great company.

Was worried about getting gas.

Not a problem as long as your willing to pay $3.59 or 3.69 a gallon.

What a rip off of the American public.

Bet that somewhere hidden there will be reports that corporate gas company profits are up 50% or better.

Can't imagine why?
