Let's hope it was not the Road Glide farewell concert tour!! Wille G. used to ride them almost exclsively as did most of the Western Region managers. But, only the bean counters know for sure now. MOCO is in a really bad way and they'll not doubt cut their losses wherever they can.

Ask someone who used to ride a Tour Glide why they ride an Ultra instead of a Road Glide.  The answer is almost always because of the lack of Ultra amenities...  Yeah, you can make an Ultra Road Glide. But it costs more then buying an Ultra.  But suppose instead you sold one from the factory again.  And everyone had to pay the high profit prices for those amenities even if you didn't want them.  And to make it even sweeter you told everyone no more Road Glide so that people on the fence go out and clear inventory before they're all gone.  Hmmm.  That would be as savy as putting a junk GPS into your top of the line bike to get rid of the junk sitting on the shelf, while justifying part of a 65% markup over the base model.  Wow, that would be ... Oh.  Never mind.

All I'll say is that I've had a RG that i tried a lot of things on and hands down the best thing I did to that bike was to put a batwing on it.  That was the end of my consideration of the RG as anything but an exersize in styling.  The Tour-Glide fairing may have been better, I never rode one.  Let's just say I won't miss the FLTR in whatever iteration it was available.  Just my personal experience.

As far as the evolution of touring bikes the frame mounted fairing will always be the best for rider comfort and protection from the elements. If your into handling the fixed fairing wins there too. I think it will replace the batwing CVO altogether when they come out with a revised model to end the problem of wind buffeting because of poor design. The wet motor will also probably make this happen sooner that later to hide the plumbing and radiator. Hey a intigrated fairing with lowers will make the best SE touring bike and mask the ulgly, wet ultra high performance, cool running motor we all want.   Doc

Sounds like a Gold Wing???    Don't see the MoCo ever getting rid of the Batwing fairing.  That is a signature for HD and they're not going to get rid of the money maker.  As far as the fixed fairing replacing the CVO Batwing...don't see that happening either.  I can go into just about every dealer out here and see 1 to 2 SERGs on the floor unsold, but have yet to see a dealer with an SEUC sitting on the floor unsold...just don't think the Road Glide has the appeal to the majority of HD touring riders like the Electra Glide does.  JMHO...

There's a bunch of dealers here that would swap a SERG for that SEUC Howie...they can't keep 'em in the dealerships down here...don't know why the big disparity.

Same with our area all the SERG's are gone, 2 SEUC's have been sitting on the floor since last year collecting dust.

The only 09 SERG I've seen at our local dealer in SoCal had a sold sign on it. It sold for 39,200 !!  ...style and function and demand     Doc
