Intresting responses, I put a 124 HC crate motor in my 12 CVO Roadglide about 4 1/2 years and 50,000 miles ago and have loved it with no issues (other than rear tire longevity..). I have attached the Dyno from when i had it tuned. Runs amazing!
Box stock 124hc engines don't make much more than 135-140 horse
It generally takes another grand in headwork to make that mark
124lc engines are usually around 125 horse
Built on an assembly line and they have a few issues
Mainly cylinders,pistons and rings
Some live long reliable lives some do not
I've fixed at least a dozen sets of s&s cylinders this year and I'm sure I'll see that many again this year
As Don and Kirby stated it's better to have something built with a mix of parts known for better reliability taylored to how you ride than a generic underpowered crate
