Inside both of the side covers of my 17' SG CVO is covered with what looks like soot. With all the electrical connections in there (including the wiring for my air shocks and led accent lighting) I'm affraid to spray it with water. It seems to come off easy when I wipe it will my fingers. Looking for suggestions for safe cleaning. The cover over the fuse block is also missing.

How about trying one of those aerosol cans used for cleaning keyboards? A cleaning wipe may do the job as well.

Along w/the aerosol compressed air you can try some CRC Electrical Cleaner (https://www.autozone.com/-degreasers/electrical-parts-cleaner/p/crc-qd-electronic-cleaner-11oz/128435_0_0).

Found the same on mineā¦.. I put the side cover back on and went for a ride

I take the side covers off every few washes and wash them with water, use air compressor to blow out the dirt on the components, dry the inside of the cover and put it back on. Never had an issue.

I went a step further when I purchased my bike. I pulled all the fuses out on by one and sprayed them down with CRC electronics cleaner along with wiping them thoroughly to remove any dirt and corrosion.

Agree with spence. I take my saddle bags and side covers off frequently to clean inside of each and also the area underneath the side covers with a damp rag and Q-tips. I guess you could say I "detail" my bike every time I ride it. Just something I have always done. I detail and service bikes in the winter since I have retired. I find from cob webs to dead bugs under those side covers..lol
