Title: Two Months Nobody Down- - Keep It Going
Post by: SPIDERMAN on November 26, 2006, 04:01:41 PM
The last new incident under this board was a post from Doc on 8/23 about him and a buddy getting tangled up with a SUV driver without a clue. That's two months ago. 103tHunDer mentioned we'd had a bad year up to that point and I agree. How about we all try to keep this going by not only mentioning wrecks, but near misses and talking about what we did to avoid a wreck. We have a wide variety of rider skills on this site and I am sure that all of us can learn from our fellow rider's experiences.
OK, here's the type of thing I'm talking about. It's no secret that we have members who's idea of fun is WFO. That's cool and something I have enjoyed myself. BUT, there's a level of skill involved in that. For instance; You've seen some of the teasing that went Chip's way after MV and the now famous high speed roll on between him, Otis, d00d, Grover ( and lest we forget Big Daddy not far behind)

BB, ole buddy, ole pal.  This is a public forum, on the WWW for the whole world to see.  Do you really want to air your personal laundry in public like this?

I mean, I'm not advertising what goes on in our bedroom, why are you?

 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

OK, I was just funnin......... or trying .............

I think that nothing in this board is a very good thing.  Let's keep it that way.

Oh, for my tips, Never - Ever - Ride faster than the bike immediately in front of you.   ;)

I guess we didn't make it two months,

ima29 posted a thread stating he went down on his new smurf jester on 11-04-06. :'(

He got two broken ribs and says he won't be back in the saddle until Christmas.
Sorry to see that happen.

Guess this is why Neil added some threads and why the mods move stuff around. I never saw the one from Killjoy. As to MV, I thought no one got hurt, just damaged bike and pride  [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

I have a question? If Ultra's bike was a total loss how did he ride it home?

Here's a quote from Ultra:

[highlight]I doesn't look that bad from a distance since things not totally bent and crushed like might be in collision with another vehicle.

Knew this thread was a jinx.  Fell on my ass on the ice this morning.  No motorcycle involved.  Just my ass (and it's associated body parts all flailing every which way).  But my pride is way injured.

Very Carefully!!!! [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif] [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif] [smiley=banana.gif]

Actually I asked Jerry and after dealer looked over they were going to have to replace frame and every piece of paint except one side cover. Not to mention the other non paint items.

I believe there is some percentage formula the insurance companies use to determine if a vehicle is totaled. If it exceeds certain cost (to repair it) percentage compared to value of vehicle it will be considered total. As we all know painted parts and chrome can be real expensive and normally they can't be repaired only replaced. Add to that his frame was bent only thing that was probably salvageable was the drive train. In regards to frame being bent it all depends on how bad it was bent whether it can be driven that way. In this case obviously it wasn't bent so bad that it couldn't be ridden.

Dave, you said a mouthfull here.  And thank you Lord for giving the strength to the folks who helped push that bad boy out of that creek, for saving the lives of Jerry and Carolyn and giving them the mental and physical strength to drive all the way home on that broken up bike the next day.  Was some pretty scary stuff to witness, that is for sure.

Everyone, you are so right - our guardian angels were definetly on duty that afternoon.  I and many others have been much more severly injured form much lesser indcidents not involving motorcycles or speed - like a deop of about 5 feet to the concrete dirve from a step ladder that failed.  No road rash but broken wrist and pelvis, not good.  J Carolyn and I comment daily and thank the Lord that we were not seriously injured.  God is good all the time, and all the time God is good.
