Sony Stereo
« on: May 25, 2006, 02:52:00 PM »

Has anybody changed out there stereo to a Sony? If so what did you use and how do you like it? I want to get Sirius on my bike. I have it now but it's not rain proof. Looking to install the Hawg-Wired system with a new sirius radio set-up.

Thanks for any info

The kit you need is the HSA kit. I have it in a bundle with a DIN mounting Cradle, DIN Aluminum Bezel, and the wiring adapter. You do not nee to cut any wires with the adapter, plug and play and your handlebar controls work!. Retail is $239.95, site members get 10% off. Here is a pic...

What Sony models are used on 06 RG's ?

The Sony radio's application won't be bike specific.  So long as it's a standard DIN sized Sony model the adaptor bracket kit will mount it in the bike.  The only other thing to confirm is that the radio you're interested in has the interface for the Sony wired remote control as that's the interface used by the accessory module to let the handlebar controls run the radio.

If you've got those two things you're only left to select a radio.  The marine units are supposedly a bit more rugged or weather sealed.  Some units don't have a front aux in jack.  Some have different color illumination options (makes a difference matching to the your other dash lights sometimes).

The CDX-M50iP is a Sony unit that has an iPod controller, has a front aux in jack, has pre-amp outs, has illumination switchable between blue and a red that is a good match for the SEEG's and other red dash lights and it works with the handlebar interface controller.  So it's at least one model worth taking a look at.

N.B.   The mounting adaptor kit and the electronic interface kit can be found here:
