Best Slip on Exhaust for M8 Street Glide
« on: June 28, 2020, 08:31:30 AM »

I am looking to get some ideas on which slip-on exhaust is ideal for an M8 Street Glide?  Need something better than stock
I have a couple of preferences I want to maintain:
- Want to keep stock heat shields on them
- No plans to remove factory header and cats
- Looking for improvements at WOT but tame at low riding speeds or cruising to still enjoy the radio

What I have researched so far:
 - Rinehart 4.5 DBX45's
 - Tab Performance BAM's with Zombie baffles (I have been told these are quite loud, but I have not heard them myself)
 - V&H - there seems to be several choices that are 4.5 inch but its difficult to know how each one differs other than slight appearance changes

Thanks !

If you want to maintain the stock heat shield on the mufflers look at 4” exhaust.

S&S Grand Nationals have a nice sound while accelerating but tame when on the highway. Stock heat shields fit but the end caps will not. I ran a set for about 7k miles and was very happy with them.

Tab Performance with a different baffle than the Zombie. They make at least 2 other baffles that are more quiet. Also on the Tabs the stock heat shields will fit and the stock end caps. You basically retain the factory look.

Full Sac makes replacement baffles for the stock muffler. I think they offer 3 different size baffles.

Any idea if you can maintain the stock heat shields on the RineHarts ?   I can't find any information on their site that says you can/can't.  I will check out the Full Sac product - I was not aware of it - Thank you !

Full Sac gets my vote!  Stock heat shields, cans & tips plus choice of baffles.  Price is good and Steve is active on this site and great to work with

Khrome works makes colored matched slip-ons if your exhaust is not chrome. But there pricey. $899.00 msrp. They are 4.5s. You can buy different incerts too. Quiet, loud, performance. Fulsack is the least expensive way  if you don't mind tearing up your stock mufflers. As far as sound goes that subjective you want to listen to all the different ones to find the sound you like the best. I bought the smoked Chrome for mine there's other post shows what they look like. https://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=120577.0

Look up Fullsac baffles.. Everything remain looking stock on the bike.... Great sound and nice results too... A lot cheaper than buying slipons.

The stock heat shields wont fit on the DBX 45, ask me how I know!, they will however fit on the DBX 40, they both sound the same as far as I could tell, I think they sound louder than the stock mufflers with Fullsac baffles, but I'm guessing that the Fullsac set up has a little more performance.

Fullsac is the best choice in my opinion.  He has three different size baffles, none so big like many slip-ons that kill low end torque.

His baffles work great on stock bikes and the 1.75 and 2.0 both improve low end torque on stock bikes.  The 2.25 do not hurt low end torque like many of the Big baffle slip-ons do.

His also work in performance applications.  Check my signature, both my built TC and M8 use fullsac, make lots of power.

They sound good when you get on it, but mellow at interstate cruise.
