??? I beg to differ with you. Have you personally owned one? I have. Two actually. One was water damaged because I installed it in the fairing against the instructions that came with the module. My second unit now resides in my Tour Pak and works flawlessly.

Yes I bought one when I bought my 09. Dealer played with it for 3 days, replaced it with a new one, played with it for 1 day. Called the MOCO and they told him that they were having problems with them. Dealer gave me my money back. That's when I started designing some thing for myself and it took off. Another member on this forum sent me his to take apart and see if I could figure it out, he received it from a friend that got tired of trying to get it to work. Apparently not all of them are defective, but enough to drop them.

Also have friends that have them and they seam to work.

Just saying I think they are no longer available because they had problems with them

On the contrary, they work brilliantly!  I'd be lost without mine....

Jim, you'll have to forgive me, I'm a little slow sometimes at putting two and two together. I just realized the you were the same Jim of
http://home.comcast.net/~jbissonette1/site/

You know how it goes, you've seen one jbiss you've seen 'em all.  ;D

I personally have not seen your product so I can't comment other to say I have heard from others here and elsewhere that it works well. At $65 it's a far cry from what the MoCo wanted for their module. To be fair, your unit would not with my particular installation as I do not use a Garmin Zumo. I'm sure that it's an invaluable product for someone that does want to integrate the Zumo and their HD radio.

Best of luck and I hope you sell a bunch of them!

Not a problem. I was not trying to plug myself here, just wanted to let the guy who's looking for one know that he may be disappointed with it.

Even though I designed and tested the Bomm with the Zumo in mind it will work with any GPS that has a 2.5mm microphone input jack. Of course the GPS also needs an audio output jack to route the output to the radio AUX input.

Thanks for the plug.

A little unfair, I think Jim. I think he wouldn't be, and the overwhelming evidence from those who've used this (both site members, and the friends I have who've bought one based on my experience with it) is that it works brilliantly and integrates beautifully with the HK Audio system.  That's not to detract from your product, which is a great idea,  :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21: and perfect for those with a GPS, but there are plenty of folks with the HK audio system and no GPS.  I have a Zumo 550, in fact, but given the choice of what to buy to use my cellphone on the bike, I wouldn't hesitate one nanosecond - the HK module, every time. (Though I'd really like to add the cellset device to integrate the Zumo audio without having to use the AUX input).

Let me rephrase my reply.

I may have been unfair towards the HD Bluetooth module. I’m not attempting to put it down as I know people who have it and it works as advertised. I’m speaking from my own experience and the experience of others I have talked to who have had problems. It seams that you MAY have connectivity issues between your phone and the module.

Sorry if I have upset anyone as it was not my intension.

No, not upset, Jim, relax!  :huepfenjump3:

You are correct in saying that you may have connectivity isses with some phones. Mine didnt work properly, so I got an old one for free that does. When I'm going on the bike, I put the SIM in the old phone and toss it in the tourpak. Works great, and unlike the Zumo or any other so called "solutions" for making or receiving calls on your bike in your HD headset, it's perfectly integrated with the HK audio system, and controlled via voice and/or hand controls without taking your hand off the grip.

Major failing? The ridiculous price!

Jim (Biss that is), now is the perfect opportunity for you to give us a plug for your product. Tell me how the Bomm works. How does it integrate.  Is it bidirectional? If I'm on a call and the GPS gives me directions, what happens? You say it will work with products other than the GPS, like what else? Maybe there's a way for me to spend more money  :huepfenlol2:. I've read your webpage but put it into words here.

Too many Jim Biss’s here. I’m starting to confuse myself. …LOL

You asked for it here it is:

The Bomm basically takes advantage of the Harley’s somewhat unique microphone circuit. Unique when you compare it to the microphone circuit on say a Yamaha Venture or Wing.

The Bomm works in conjunction with a GPS that has Bluetooth capabilities, such as the Garmin Zumo 550 or the new 660. It directs the audio from your helmet microphone to the GPS’s microphone input without interfering with the bikes audio system. As long as the radio is ON you have connectivity. One might say it operates in tandem with the bikes audio system.

You pair your phone with the GPS and once that is accomplished you make and receive calls via the GPS interface. Voice directions on most GPS units that I know of take preference over all other GPS functions such as listening to MP3 files that you have loaded, or phone calls. So if you’re talking on the phone or listening to MP3 files the GPS will interrupt that audio output in order to give you that voice turn direction.

A phone has a feed thru circuit that allows you to hear in the earpiece what you are saying in the microphone. The GPS does not have this circuit, (I wish it did) so you do not hear what you are saying when you talk into your helmet microphone, this is where the integration to the Harley audio system comes in. Since the Bomm does not affect the audio system and it remains fully functional you can take advantage of the intercom to feed the microphone circuit back to the helmet speakers and this allows you to hear what you are saying. This is accomplished by turning your intercom ON. If you have the VOX adjusted then you don’t have to use the PTT switch to hear waht you are saying on the phone. If the VOX is OFF then you would need to use the PTT switch. I ride with the VOX on and adjusted so that when I do receive a call I just touch answer on the Zumo and talk, its hands free at that point.

One flaw with this is that you have to have the radio in the AUX input position, because you would not be able to hear the GPS as its audio output is directed to the radio’s AUX input.

Another flaw is that if you don’t use the VOX and instead use the PTT switch and you have the CB ON then you will transmit what you are saying over the air.

Another draw back at the moment is that the passenger can hear the phone conversation but can not talk. I’m working on a solution to this as many customers would like the ability of the pillion seat to be able to talk also.
