I finally found a 2008 SERK in Crystal Copper and Black Oynx, beautiful except for the black leather bags. I saw the same colors on the 2008 SEUC with hard bags and thought, ok, I'll just order those color matched hard bags for my RK. Much to my surprize, the local dealer said no way jose, the bags are "vin restricked". After a long and even more disappointing chat with HD customer service rep, all I got was "from the top down, the motor company does not want you changing the look of the SERK". The rep even refuesed to give me a name or number of someone "at the top" to call and plead with.
I don't want to change the look of the RK other than the bags (which can be locked). I am sure the PPG codes for the 2008 colors are not available, so I cannot even get a set of bags painted to match. I don't want to repaint the whole bike because I do like the color scheme, but I really want the hard bags.
Anyone have any good ideas or a name or number for someone at the top in Michigan?

Tom, here's my '07 with hard bags, fairing and neck covers. Bought the hard bags off eBay (they came off a 2003 RK), bought the fairing from DeadCenter Cycles, bought the neck covers from Kuryakyn. Had them all painted to match.

Ha ha ha, very funny.
I think, after you bought it, you should be able to do whatever YOU like.
In any case, many talented people out there can get you bags painted to exactly match your bike. If you can not get the original colors, there are devices used by experts, which allow to pick up the color from any painted piece. I have my '07 SERK changed to hard bags, and they are very beautiful with the flames and everything to match exactly. Other people have done that too.

Although they force you to change how it runs, immediately. At Americade they had a 2008 SERK4 in the demo fleet and it was 100 degress outside. That must have been a hot ride.

My twilight blue is going Thu the change this week. This has cost me and other SERK owners way to much money. I still do not understand why HD cant see that they would profit from this if the products were made available to us.JMO. Kevin

Could you buddy up with the owner of an Anny SEUC3 and order a pair with his VIN#? Or will the ordering dealer require the old bags to be destroyed? Sounds like a job for Jenni!

I know the DH's here locally want the friggin part to "turn in" to the MoCo...Either a line of shiite or just plain shiite. :'(

What would happen if a SEUC owner had his bags stolen? Their would be no bags to return to MC. Any ideas?

More then likely (if Moco requested) a copy of police report and/or insurance claim would be required. :nixweiss:

Just ordered hard bags for my SERK. Used one of the friends Anniversary SEUC as the ordering VIN. Will see if I can get them that way. I really like the way bike looks with hard bags. I also suspect that they are more spacious (although not entirely sure). Will see if I get them...

I don't know what the problem is? If they want the bags for ex change, Just up the price and don't forget about tax. And a 28% restocking fee, and if they are stolen, tell them it will be $20.00 for the copies of the police report.......

That is odd! They have 211,000,001 Catalouge HarleyDavidson Parts to buy to change the look of every bike they sell.
