Title: 2001 Switchblade market value
Post by: Buy early on June 03, 2012, 08:36:43 AM
For those of us wondering what a virtually new 2001 FXDWG2 is worth on the open market, this one just sold for $11K with 1495 miles on the odo and some nice mods (exhaust, windshield, chrome inner primary, mini backrest, extra seat, and some leathers.

How someone owns a great bike like this for 11 years and manages only 1495 miles is beyond me but it takes all kinds to make the world.

I have one with 2800 miles that I'm thinking of selling. I'm getting close to retirement and feel the need to down size. So I'm thinking of selling my '99' FXR2  4000 mile, '99' FXR3  6000 miles, '00' FXR4 13000 miles, '01' FXDWG2 2800 miles and a '09' Roush 427R 6000 miles. Don't know what the market for these are but have an idea of what it would take. Unless you talk to the wife, then I'm sure it would be less. I just don't get the chance to ride all of them so they sit. I love the collection, but I hate that they don't get rode like they should. I am sure that someone else would get better use of them. Just saying. The more I think about it, why whould I sell any of them. I love my collection and could never replace it, so I think I will keep them all and maybe even add some to it. What the hell was I thinking.

Well I can go one better. I have one with 50 miles on it. I might be interested in selling it. I have 6 Harleys including a 1945 WL and dont have enough time to ride them all either.

I know one sold recently at Chicago HD for 10k. I can imagine that yours would go for more money with so few miles.  BTW, I love the way these ride.  The FXDWG2 and 3 are great riding bikes.

We will see, when I put my "Switchblade" up for sale, I'm gettin' old.

2001 FXDWG2 has the WHOLE SCREAMN' EAGLE CATALOGUE IN THE DRIVETRAIN~ 103 6sp~ from the billitt crank/rods to the 51mm carb to the 6sp gearset~really quick and sounds and runs great!!!

This bike is well sorted, starts quicker than the EFI bikes, cold or hot.

'Have all the paperwork on the build, The Poster & 2 Magazine covers.

'Just have to get off my butt, take some pics, and write it up.

I'm in the same boat as the OP, I don' have a clue??

You didn't say how many miles on the bike. Motor mods should be worth about 1/2 what you paid. Other mods worth about 10% of what you paid depending on how radical they are. Poster is worth about $75, magazine covers worth about $15 each. Looking forward to your photos!

If you have the tan back rest pad, your price just went through the roof!  I can't find one anywhere!

The bike has ~29k All the brakes, bearings, swingarm bushings etc. are fresh.

F&R tires both ~50% no apparant dry rot (I'll replace to sell if required, otherwise I'll ride 'em)

The drive train has ~9k on it. Uses no oil between changes, no leaks.

The visual mods are not very significant:

Paint inside fairing Scarlet Red
Wires inside bars
Digital Tach from V-Rod Destroyer
Aftermarket mirrors
Kury front turn signal bar (between forks)
150 rear Dunlop
V&H Shorty Duals
103 Timer cover off of '05 SERG
Matching Back Rest (gotta have it, with that Motor)

Thank you for the help! I feel that your #s are realistic.

Hey all -

I am starting to look for an FXDWG2 Switchblade and saw in this thread that several members might be thinking about parting with theirs. Anyone serious about making a deal PM me and we can talk.

Always loved the look of the Switchblade and maybe the time is right for me to finally get one.  :)
Purely a toy buy so no rush but I'd rather get one from a forum member than I would a dealer or some "stranger" (lol).

MikeD

I just bought my switchblade on the 26th of Feb...This is my second one...I regreted trading my first on an Ultra Classic in '03....

I found the backrest mini pad (tan) still in the original box at a Cincinnati dealership. My dealer here in South Florida did a search and found 15 of 'em at various dealers across the country...as well as boxes and boxes of other new "obsolete" parts for her. I've been buying as many parts as I can find (and afford) for almost a year now & I didn't even have the bike yet. There's lots of stuff out there for 'em. Just have to spend hours & hours on the phone and the "confuser".

Thanks for the info Scarlett 2!  I have a list of dealerships with the obsolete parts I need.

Congrats on the new scooter!!!  I love these, they are the best looking bikes imo!  They just look like they are going 100 mph!
