I need a bike cover for the outdoors.

Any Recommendations

As recommended by Terry, I got the Rain Cover by Exigent. It just came yesterday. It's very compact for travelling too. Thanks Terry!

Have the same cover. Have used it several times when the bike has been parked during impressive rain storms. Works very well. Goes on easy. Shakes off quickly.

They also have a small seat-only cover that works very well with Corbin seats and two backrests installed. Almost always travel with at least that one. Very tiny when folded and your leather will thank you for it.

Yeah, with a leather seat, I try to remember to put the seat cover on ea. night just for the 'dew'. Don't want to start the day with a wet seat.

The Exigent website warns against extended UV exposure. Anyone know of one that will hold up well for covering the bike, say during the day at work?

I guess they'd all be sacrificial to the ole UV, huh? I've had a number from diff. companies and although some work better than others (read: leak), they all seem to last the way I use 'em.......but 'everyday'? Probably not too long. I use canvas covers on the boat and they seem to last for a few years before the UV gets um.

Spyder, yeah, better the cover than the bike, I just thought maybe there would be a choice or 2 out there that someone knew of that was more robust to UV than the norm. I bought one of the high-dollar H-D covers and used it outside off and on and within 2 years, it was breaking down and leaving crap all over the bike whenever I put it on. I didn't think it shoulda went to hell that quick.

I know that some of the threads breakdown faster than others.......gets brittle faster. Some have the UV resistance built in..... thats probably something you'd need more for leaving it out ea. day over a period of time. And that begs the question: how's the paint gonna hold up also?

Brian, their covers pack so small and do such a good (easy to use) job that their fair price can make them throw-aways every 2nd or 3rd year if need be.

Brian...I agree that the Exigent covers, for the price, cannot be beat. I cannot take credit for "discovering" this, as if memory serves me when I was searching for a travel cover, it was either d00d or Don who steered me in that direction. It is also my experience with well coated nylon, it will not break down as readily as some other materials.. However, if damp/wet when you pack it up, it is critical to pull it out and drape it over something to allow it to thoroughly dry...mold and mildew sets up very quickly (as soon as a week or two), and mildew is the enemy of the coatings for waterproofing these materials...backpacking tents are one good example I am familiar with, and I've packed many of them wet, but when I get home I unpack and let them get good air circulation until thoroughly dry, then pack back up.

I several covers myself, I found the best thing to do is try and find shade, cover the seat(s). If I have no other choice I roll up old towels and place them on the wheel (right side), prevent pooling of water on wheel. Next day replace towels. Stop raining turn cover inside out dry in sun. You can also spray Freebz to reduce the mildew build up makes cover last longer.

I have used Harley's Stormshield for several years and have been very happy with it. I used to commute on the bike and had to leave it in an open parking lot. Even after downpours, the bike was always nice and dry under the cover.

No, but then again I was parking in the morning and leaving in the afternoon. It might be different in the morning.

Oasis Day Cover works well. I especially like it when I park the bike at work, but it does scream "H-D," and doesn't have the security disguise provided by other covers.
