What removes stains from natural finish motor
« on: April 05, 2008, 02:44:18 PM »

The diaphragm in the accelerator pump in my carbuerator started leaking and stained the metal. I have washed and washed and washed some more and can't get the stain out, what works to remove that little bit of ugliness? Because if it don't shine it aint mine, lol, or so I would like anyway.

Beauty!

Try spraying some wd40 on a rag then blotting...Never spray anything direct...always on a rag 1st.
wd40 works on the drips from my carb...Safty cleen brake cleaner works too...on a rag..

I use carb cleaner on my natural finished motor. It works well. :2vrolijk_21:

As suggested try using a rag and a inconspicuous spot first. I now spray it right on the cases and wipe it off with a dry rag.

Prell shampoo.  Work a generous amount around with a small toothbrush and then hose off.  Amazingly this stuff works great.  And to think, people use this stuff on their hair!   Keep it off of the painted surfaces on the bike though as it will strip any wax products that you might have on there.

DO NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Try oven cleaner.

Works on your pipes, not your engine.

Right Brian?

Bob,

It's kind of like sitting on the side of the road waiting with your buddies broken down bike and having a truck drive by spilling some of his load hitting you with a bale of horse bedding!  (O.K., now we just drug Otis into this)

The best thing I've ever seen for cleaning and making shine the engine finish was shown me buy an older gentleman with the most amazing Tour Glide you've ever seen.  He makes up a paste of peanut butter and Wesson oil.  Wipes it one thin.  Cleans it off in a normal wash.  Motor just glistens.

Was just too easy to imagine some poor guest to the site surfing through some dark and stormy night.  Who didn't know me.  All trusting and warm and serene.  With a scoot out in the garage.  And he/she/it thinks "gee, this is nice, that sweet Mr Twolane just told me how to make my boring black motor all shiny.  Now just what the hell is Wesson Oil anyway?"  Then off he goes in the rain to Wal Mart; and it goes downhill from there....

Don't forget that the bike in the trailer pulling a trailer is inside a Harley bubble with a HEPA filter and sotrage air dehumidifier. ;)

The diaphragm in the accelerator pump in my carbuerator started leaking and stained the metal. I have washed and washed and washed some more and can't get the stain out, what works to remove that little bit of ugliness? Because if it don't shine it aint mine, lol, or so I would like anyway.
