Harley MP3 player
« on: November 07, 2009, 04:07:40 PM »

Does anybody still use the Harley MP3 player if so i could use your help.
If i use the 64 mb memory card everything is ok, but i can't get it to play when i use a 1 gig memory card.
It says it will take up to 1 gig sd memory card. And i have tried a couple different cards with no luck.
I guess i could buy a 512mb card and see if that would work. 64mb is just to small have to keep changing the card.

Thank you
Ernie

Might want to try reformatting the card.  I'm actually using a 2 gig card in mine with no problems other than the fact that I can never find the song I want to hear because there are too many on the card. ::)

Did you reformat the cartidge in NTFS or FAT file format?  If I remember correctly those players need it done in the FAT format.  My memory on that could be faulty.  Easy enough to check though.  If it doesn't work one way try the other.  Won't hurt a thing and will take only minutes.

The card needs to be formatted in FAT32 mode to work.

Thank you all for the information but i guess it is no use nothing will work, i have changed cards different size cards and reformated to fat 32 still wont work. I guess something is wrong with the player, i still can use my one 64mb card that works. Doesent seem right  that the other cards won't work, think i will go to walley world and get a 256mb card if i can find one and try it.

Thank's again you time is very much appreciated.

...

Try to change for another memory card brand.
Every kind of card are not compatible with every device.
For example, you cannot use in a GPS device all memory card brands.

And be carefull when you format a memory card : It's a flash memory device.
It doesn't like... :(

Personnaly, I use CD-RW with mp3 files on it... as mp3 player.
Many hours of music to listen before I have to change the CD.

Does anyone know the part number of the Harley mp3 player ?

This handlebar mounted player is obsolete.  Was offered in 04 for a couple years (or so).  Kit part numbers were 76365-04 and 76376-04 for black and chrome.

Well it seems that with a 1gig memory card or larger the music is put in folders and the MP3 player won't play if the music is in folders. So how do you get the music out of the folders? Does this sound right to you or have i been fed a line of bull? Don't have a clue how to remove the folders or copy without it being put in folders.

Thank's

First question is what it putting the files in folders (directories)?  I do remember that the music player only looks for files in the root (top) directory.  So anything below that wouldn't be seen by the player.

In the end though it shouldn't matter.  Plug the memory card in to a card reader that allows you to see it on your computer.  Than it's just another drive letter.  Copy the files to the root directory manually.
