I am with CVODON. My bike is called a Harley

I have never named a car either. I have known many chicks who named cars. I always thought it was silly but cute for chicks.
Never knew any grown women that named cars. Naming boats is not actually in the same category. But hey... I am libitarian, I have no problem with folks doing what they please. I sure hope it is OK for us that think it is silly to have our opinions.

I too think it's ridiculous to name a mechanical apparatus. But when I'm having a conversation with my gold rush/carbon dust CVO, usually during her daily rub down and/or wax job, she likes me to refer to her as the Gilded One. So I do. . .

First white FKHRC was Road Pig and I had a silver windshield ornament made with the that name on it. Real pricey custom artwork and to ashamed to admit price on here.
New CVO Limited Slyk Pig Would love to redo the above silver pig for the new bike but the noun ting on the fairing is not like the center nut on the windshield on the road king.
Wife has had Delilah and Purple Passion.

I never called my bikes any names but Gold digger would sure be an appropriate name.

More chrome if that was possible.
Stock wheels to keep the 03 SERK theme

Thank you SCRM-R BIG TIME for selling me back the Croc/Ostrich/Scottish Leather bags and seat . They've darkened up a bit over the years but still look fabulous. The owner of San Diego H-D ("New York Mike" Selby) who has three dealerships, one with a showroom with 300 new bikes for sale and is one of the largest dealerships in the world was drooling over them this past April and they are 12 years old now. I mean Mike can buy anything he wants and still was just nuts for these bags and seat. He wrote down Alligator Bob's info to see about a custom set for himself

This bike is not a CVO but it has a name Los Dragones. This bike was originally pieced together to be a long miler. I made several Pacific to Atlantic trips on it until arthritis and and balky heart made riding more than a few hundred miles a day a memory.I rode it to Maggie Valley from San Diego two weeks after buying it and continued to Florida and back to California making that an 8,000 mile round trip. It made two trips from San Diego to Maine and back. Nowadays it is my Maine bike and I have enjoyed many many cruises around New England on it. From the rocky coast to the snow topped mountains.
I had had a 2000 CVO Road Glide and when by 2007 H-D had not offered the RG again I decided to more or less make my own "Faux" CVO
The engine was boosted to 103" with a nice selection of Screamin-Eagle parts. The paint was modified to reflect the themes used in previous CVO's (ghost flames, side panel stripes etc) and all the regular CVO extras were added. Lo and behold in 2009 H-D comes back with one of the best CVO models EVER in the RG or any other model, however I was not in a position to buy a new bike at that time. Anyway, the name got screwed up. It was supposed to have been Dos Dragones for Two Dragons after having done the tail of the dragon twice and also paying homage to the age old biker curse of having two dragons (booze/drugs)

Been on this site off and on since summer of '04 and this is the strangest thing I have ever read. I have never known anyone to name a bike/car, a few boats but that for some reason seems different and although I have had several boats I passed on that deal as well. But if I know anyone who actually has a name for a bike or car they are too embarrassed to mention it, but on here people actually seem proud. Beyond my comprehension.

Anyone's limited or expanded comprehension notwithstanding; what difference does it make? My bikes don't have names (unless I'm pissed off at them, then the names couldn't be shared here anyway). But if someone else does; so what? I can easily "comprehend" someone calling a bike or car by name. Just because I don't doesn't make me more enlightened or in some way more divinely realistic.

Couldn't have said it any better than that.
Is a name for a CVO that much different than a vanity plate?

Remember when all bikers understood if I have to explain you wouldn't understand? Remember when bikers who didn't understand accepted that individuality was what made the biker lifestyle so great. Not patches or lack thereof, but truly living your life the way you want as long as your not hurting or taking from some one you embrace the differences that keep life so interesting.
My bike is screaming nemo. The first bike I've ever named and only because when I saw it in a catalog I said it was the ugliest fricken bike Harley ever made. It looked like a fricken clown fish. Then I saw it in the sun. Then I bought it. Then it got a name and a custom logo drawn by me. I'd say some times a bike reaches you in ways that may seem foreign to those who can only see the spec sheet. For others it's just a machine. Either way it's a shame to call it out as something other than that.

The bike had its creative points. They just happened to be in the (sometimes even hidden) one-off or other tricks that went in to it. SERK and the SERG are the same way. My creativity just comes with machine tools and a BFH :apple: .

One of my bikes has a name, Darth. Lately has been lengthened to %&#$%(¥ Darth sum&%€÷#$ @#$$%*!! & is in shop for a new motor for the last 2 months. My insurance company is named &$#%€ All■\|◇¿ since they were the cause of a month of the delay. >:(
The other bike is The Road King, which I think is very original & might be the only one named that. 8)
Have already named my next bike, The Next Bike, but that may change. :nixweiss:
Saw those Elvis bags in person, they are much better looking in person than in the pics. :2vrolijk_21:

Just to put a period on my contribution to this thread. Dead_Reckoning (blood brother born 3 years before me) signd the paperwork for me so I could buy my first motorcycle at 15 years old. Had futched around on borrowed and homemade for several years prior. I'm 61 now. So somewhere between 47and 50 years give or take off being totally completely insanely nuts for motorcycles. I would have to sit and think very hard to remember every single one so I'll just take a guess and say between 20-25. In all that time until Elvis I, none of them had names. Have owned 42 cars, trucks and every manner of vehicles with four wheels and none ever had a name. Elvis was not named by me. It was named by my brothers and riding buddies because of the gold paint that looked like the gold suit Elvis wore in Viva Las Vegas and because it was so over the top. It was pretty blinged out when I bought and I took it to a level that only the real Elvis would have. Don mentions unseen items. My rear brake was chromed even though it totally hidden behind the saddlebags. So the first moving convenance of any type (boats don't count, you have to name boats) was Elvis. After E, I bought an 07 Road Glide and Twolane and I jokingly remarked that it (the RG) might feel slighted without a name a break down on me somewhere in the middle of one of my 7000 mile rides. So having just been to Maggie Valley it was named Two Dragons only I effed up the spanish and translated it to Los Dragonnes instead of Dos Dragones. C'est la vie eh ? Elvis II got it's name from being essentially the little brother of Big E although EII has one killer motor. Right up there with the best of anything I've seen using a stock CVO 103 and not boring or storking it. 124ftlbs and 113hp and verifired by people who know how to get an honest dyno read and not some happy dyno idiot trying to sell the deal.
At any rate, that's the whole story and I really don't give a flying f$%* who cares. As mentioned along the way here, being a biker is about being who you want, living how you want and FTW. So if you don't want to name a motorcycle fine don't. But don't f$%*ing tell me not to or make fun of it because you're proving yourself to be NOT a biker in doing so.

Well, I assumed it was obvious because of how our bikes make us all feel....or at least, how mine made me feel when I first saw it!! :pepper:
Now I get it. Being old school, I thought you had named it after the old woody station wagon from days gone by.
-
Nope. I'd call the woody the woody. If I could get one at my age. Finances are tough you know. So owning a high end bike prevents me from buying that old Merc woody I've always wanted.
I've had two cars named for me as well as the bike. I'd thought it amusing and a good ice breaker for getting a conversation started. I've thought it overdone as people continue to give me Finding Nemo stuffed fish. I've thought it annoying when the bike fell over and scratched the lower fairing that everyone made a broken flipper joke.
But calling names lame just because you think only an attack helicopter is worthy? Tell you what. You can go take a ride on one of my son's 47' coast guard boats during a nor'easter. They don't have names other than the same as 2lanes and Iski's. After you're done puking you can tell me all about what's named and not named being lame. His V-Rod has a name too. He didn't name it and he doesn't use it. But he's smart enough to not make fun of someone who does.
-
About now is where Hubbard comes in, quotes the pithier parts of people's posts, adds a few West Virginia words of wisdom and signs off with

Lets see some more Harleys's with names now. You know we've got your back so don't be bashful about it.

Much better than naming it "Annoymouse" because an annoying mouse is not a good name for a bike, unless you live near Disney or a Chuck E. Cheese..... :huepfenlol2:

Not sure if you were speaking to me with that but I don't believe I called anyones name for their bike "lame". I did state that I don't personally name my vehicles, cars or bikes, but could not possibly give less of a crap if a person wants to name their bike after a cabbage patch doll, stroke it on the gas tank and talk to it like it is alive.
-
Laughed out loud at that !
Even worse? My youngest brother darned near cut his hand off with a saw. All the nerves were severed and most of the bones. They re-attached it but his hand just sticks out from his arm. Can't move a single finger. Guess his nickname. Yep... "Flipper".

Nope, the part you quoted was not meant for you. It was my opinion of someone deciding an expression of individuality is lame when applied to something they don't agree with but ok when its what they do.
To each their own. If it don't hurt you or yours, don't insult or belittle it.

The first was the Harlot a SG (by my wife of course) the second one is The Beast a105th SEFXDII and the newest a 14 CVO limited is Anabelle, was our 30th Anniversary to ourselves.
-
My bike's name is "Innominate". My Harley named itself. And I'll fight all y'all bastards that don't like it.
That's funny. Latin Harley (the ancient world being the derivation of all Harley tech).
I remember a chat BB and I had before LD got its name. Something about never just picking a name; that the car or bike has to some way give it up. The last thing any of us wants is to be riding around on a temperamental bike that's pissed off all the time just because it doesn't like it's name.
-
Called the 2004SEEG "OleBlue"
and the 2011SESG "Pumpkin"

Back to life since I got the new shark named her Megaladon
-
I just call her "her" as a name never really stuck and I wasnt going to force one just to name it. I tried Betty for the song Black Betty... but it just didnt stick.
Back in college i had a 1984 Ford Escort... you know. Bought for $400. Rusted, tan and copper color... nothing sexy about it. But it got me from point A to B. And for some reason it got named Billy... no idea why or how but that name stuck and everyone called it that. "Hey can I borrow Billy?" "Can you move Billy so I can get out? Since then, never had another with a name or a "personality" like that little car.
Not the original Billy... but similar 84 Escort.
And a picture of her. (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180623/1a28614180302bb14e450edff186556e.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180623/25c5ec72b6bc4b7ba965a81f55ac0492.jpg)

I just sold "Lucy" 2012 FLHTCUSE7
....and just bought "Iris" 2019 FLHTXSE. It's our 25th anniversary of being on a Harley. (Our first HD was bought in September of 1993 as a '94 Dyna Wide Glide)....and it's fittingly silver (magnetic grey fade) for our "silver anniversary". Iris is the 25th anniversary flower.....so therefore "Iris" it is...
Now ain't that corny as heck....?

out of 7 harleys, have never named any of them.
until now.
i've taken to calling my bike 'deerslayer'.... going to work at 0530 a couple of weeks ago, just tooling along at 69mph, when before i could even see it, i had already run over it. luckily, i didn't go down, did manage to mess up the bike a little (both literally, and figuratively). ins. appraiser was out and worked up a quote for 2 grand 'ish', but has to come back out monday for a follow up, i found a couple more items that need to be added.

i have had 2-3 bikes for about as long as i can rember.. i have never had an actully name for any of them. but i do refer to them as the big bike (big bike- 2000 SERG) the little bike (pieced together softail) and the old bike ( '66 cop bike) the only reason for the names, is my wife knows what i am headed out on.. the big bike, she never worries about me being gone a trip on it, the little bike, she gets concerned if i am headed out for more than a 200 hundred mile day the old bike, she doesnt get why i even ride it...lol :orange:

Got me an older model at a scratch and dent sale ... Peeked under the tarp ... Made out like a bandit!! ;)
She had me get Bertha (Ultra) because two-up on Pearl (Softail) was 'uncomfortable' ... She still likes Pearl for short runs, Bertha for the longer ones.

I know this is an old thread but I have enjoyed reading through the names and wanted to chime in. My bike's name is Scarlett. I named her Scarlett partly because of the color, Dark Forest, and also because of Scarlett Johansson. After all, who would not want to ride Scarlett Johansson?
