HD made it right after blown motor
« on: April 26, 2017, 10:09:20 PM »

Well after some time with the dealership, they made it right and replaced my blown 2015 110 from my SG. But after a bit of talking with guys here and the service manager we decided to install an S&S 124 after the replacement motor arrived. So I'm saving the stock motor for another day. The 124 is the higher compression of the two offered currently. Fullsac told me that my DX pipe with 2.0 cores would be fine with a built 117 so I figured just run it on the 124 and see what happens. We did get my throttle body sent out for enlarging to feed the 124. Stock CVO air cleaner milled out on the Bridgeport to fit the bigger throttle body. So this new starting point is really almost box stock as it could get from the standard Fullsac DX and TTS upgrade it had already had on the 110. The new numbers are really beyond my expectations. My dealer did the tune. 141.45 hp and 137.59 tq. And we thought the torque number would be higher than HP. Lol HP hit a high just before 6k and held till 6500 when shut down. Quite pleased, quite pleased. Going be a fun season and there is so much more room for more in the coming winters.

Big numbers! You might be the new record holder for a DX Pipe. Steve Cole made 138hp with a DX on 120R with Hurricain heads. Post up that dyno chart so I can tell him you smoked him!

I can take a photo of it and post tonight. Obviously the pipe is good because I've got nothing  else special to make the numbers pop. Box stock S and S high comp 124 and modified throttle body. You would think the cvo air cleaner would hold it back too.

A look at the chart would be great. There's more in yours for sure. Your loosing at least 5 HP with the stock Ventilator. In a back to back test, this AC on the 114 M8 showed a solid 6 HP loss. Going back on with my favorite the Heavy Breather.

Nice curve! That's a lot of bang for the buck in a crate motor. Absolutely stomps a 120R.

Yes indeed! My buddy at S&S told me buy their motor and be done for a while. He was certainly correct. And as you say, just changing the air cleaner should bump me to mid 140s. But that's another day. For now I'm happy and the Fullsac pipe and cores are doing their job as well. The sound is pretty much the same, maybe a tad louder, especially when cracking the throttle. There is a slight hot rod lope that wasn't there with the 110 and there is massive pressure from the pipes when standing behind the bike. You can feel it 15 feet behind the bike easily. But it pretty much looks and sounds just like the 110 did with the DX.

Let me know if I hold the DX pipe record! 😁

I have had both the 120r and the 124 in my bike and you are right, the 124 crushes the 120r

And a Total blast to ride!, I am sure I could pick up about 3 hp and torque if I could fit a heavy breather on the bike.  Lowers with speakers prevent that.

Key is matching cam and compression.  One of my issues with the way the HD kit is out of the box, is it does not have as much compression as the 259E cam likes.

I had great results with a 259E cam, at 10.8 compression in a 110 motor.

I always listen to the smart builders, and head porters.
