Title: What Personal Name Have You Given Your Bikes?
Post by: Hoist! on December 02, 2008, 09:17:36 AM
Alrighty then! We all have some pet names we've given our bikes. Mine are:

'07 SERK3: Cybil

'99 FXR3: Joy

'85 FXWG: "The Wide Glide"

'08 NSMC Pro Street: "The Pro Street"

My '96 RK was named Lois, after the owner of Jack's HD in Effingham, IL, who went out of her way to help us out in a pinch on the way home from Sturgis in '98. That bike is long gone now.

I know, not very creative overall, but they work for me. Let's hear what ya'll call yours! :2vrolijk_21:

So far haven't been struck by lightning on a name. Sticking with the MoCo's 'Switchblade' for the time being. I'll know it when I hear it (or think of it).

Here's a shock:

2008 CUSE3 - Nemo.  I named it that before I ever found this site and I'll be damned if I'm going to name it after some Texas football team.

My wife's blue Street Bob is now named Dori...

Corny. Sickenly cute.  Disgusting.  Yep... But I still think it's funny.

No offense to anyone here but I didn't like the white inner faring.  :P

I've had other bikes but they were nameless metrics.  :-\

Thinking about converting the POSE (it's actually my favorite to ride) to a trike, may have to change it's name then. Any suggestions? Was maybe going to follow Super Hero's next. Wonder Woman is out, OK !

At least you've got red and orange.  All I ever came up with was the red bike and the other red bike.  Before them was the red Road King.

Have had bikes (or cars) with names.  But never believed you could or should just hang a name on them.  It'll piss them off if it's wrong.  Something has to happen, a feeling has to strike you or they have to do something where they give up their name to you.  If they don't it's safer not to name them.

You're right on. Like pets, they kinda name themselves. Orgasm just didn't seem appropriate for a bike so I'll keep waiting.

My bike I don't call anything. My wife's bike I call "Woolly Mammoth" because she has that fringe crap everywhere. I also tell friends it looks like a Mardi Gras float. Other names are POS,  B***ch, Pile of Junk, Rust Bucket. I use those names when working on it because if something is going to go wrong it seems to always be her bike. Other than that, they really don't have names.

I've never attached a name to a bike before, but the Fat Boy will be called "Jumpin' Jack Flash" once it is finished. Now you can guess the theme I am using ;-). The CVO's have been "The Bike", "The Black Bike", and "The White Bike", so far. And yes, I have still not delivery date on the, eh, "The New Bike".

I have not yet named either of my bikes but,
I started thinking about what might be appropriate for the FLHTCUSE3
Rosemary's Baby first came to mind, I might just have the Devil
Then Annie Hall due to it's neurotic owner.
Carrie, just never sure when she might lock me up and start a fire!
Paris Hilton?  High maintenance, famous for her looks and no substance
Always wanted to take Halle Berry for a ride, that would work.
Amy Winehouse, totally unpredictable and suicidal and completely overdone.
 any other suggestions?

Poo?

So far they have been called "the Road King"  & "the Ultra".  Occasionally the Ultra is the Jester.

I don't have a clue what to name the Road King.  So it stays the Road King.

Might consider re-naming the Ultra. The plate says Jester but I could improve on that.

My current ride, the outrageously overdone faux 07 SERG is named Los Dragonnes or LD for short. It named itself when 3 weeks after I bought it, I found myself riding the Tail of the Dragon (twice) with a group of newly made friends from this website.

My former 03 SERK was named Elvis by my friends because it was so over the top and the centennial gold paint was reminiscent of the gold lame suit Elvis wore in Viva Las Vegas. Site member MJZ is the current proud owner of Elvis and fittingly so since Mark lives just outside of Memphis TN in Germantown. The Big E has indeed been to Graceland and been photographed with the real Elvis ( ok, his ghost)

Prior bikes I've owned had names like Toucan Sam (multi-hued tie dye paint scheme) Christine (red, wouldn't run with a woman on it, brought back to life each time after multiple crashes ) and The Bitch (named so by my wife in a pique of jealousy one day) as in "you spend more time and money on The Bitch than me "  well yeah honey, what's your point ? LOL

Speaking of those a$$holes, they have started calling me about every other week checking to see if I would be interested in trading in Raquel on a new bike.. :zwtf:

Maybe that was the point of confusion.  You were speaking not of the bike but the dealer.  Just thought I remembered a few things said during detailing....   Oh, certainly not ::) .

Actually, one time I'm sure now you were talking about a mirror instead of the whole bike  .

You can't take anything serious I say during detailing.  Who (other than d00d) likes detailing.  The mirror was aftermarket, and I was the idiot that put the cheap POS item on Raquel in the first place.

The chances of me trading my bike in to those guys is lower than H-D's stock price right now.  I think they are seriously hurting out there.  I have never been impressed with their ability to actually run a business.  Being really busy and making great margins covers a lot of sins.

I hate to see them suffer.  If for no other reason than a lot of people around here rely on them.  It's also not as if Scott and Nancy intend for the mistakes to happen that they seem so prone to.  They certainly don't sanction carelessness and, occasionally, ineptitude.

The parts counter is a good one there.  Everyone there is helpful, generally informed and cares what they're doing.  The boutique I don't know a thing about.  Parker buys a little stuff there.  But it's not my thing.  The service department is what suffers the rare air.  My own repetitive, extreme, simply stupid and/or jaw droppingly careless errors suffered there over the course of (literally) years one might try and chalk up one guy being the statistical anomaly that allows everyone else to get by ok.  But your history there, Mobe's from this site with his repetitive damaged paint issues, and too many others I know of (past and present) illuminate the fact that try as they might their problems are systemic.

Besides "The 4-Speed", "My Real Bike", or "Rainmaker", we just gave my Reborn '85 FXWG another name yesterday, after Vern fired her new 110 Evo mill up for the first time, during our first snow storm! She's now also called "Snowmaker"!!! New motor, new generation, new name!!!  ??? ;D ;D ;D ;)

My FXR4 is "the Cat", because she is so nimble and quick.
Mike's hot-rod 03 Sportster is "La Chula", which is Spanish for pretty little girl.
The 03 SERK is "Tigger", cause she is striped and growls, but friendly.
The Heritage softail was "Queen Latifa (the Queen)" because she is big, black, and has LOTS of bling.

So, there ya are! We are a bunch of sickos......

Parson?  Ok, I'll bite.  What's the derivation?

I've got a cat named Lincoln Garfield McKinley.  Named after assassinated Presidents of the United States for whom the fact of their assassination did not demonstrably raise their historical standing from what it otherwise should have been.  But I'm not weird or anything.  The bikes have very novel names too though.  The red bike and the other red bike.  But I'm not weird or anything.  Not redundant either.  Also not a little bit drunk.  So?  Parsons?

Mine I call "my bike"

But that's what I call mine.  It's easier that way.  I never have to change it.

My ex-wife used to call my bike MoMo.  I think it was supposed to be some kind of baby talk thing or something.  It never stuck with me and I guess she didn't either.

Why? The wheels are RideWright Fat Daddy 50's with black rims & spokes and red hubs and... NIPPLES... with 100 red nipples on the wheels, what else could I name the bike?

Answers the age old question:  "Where is Waldo's long lost shaker of salt?"  The things I learn when I read here would fill a book, except most of the books I read have the pages filled in with words, so the stuff here would be mostly confusing when written on top of or next to whatever was written there already

Beauty belongs to my beautiful wife Kandy. She makes the decisions on what gets added to the Deuce. The hard saddlebags are currently in for a matching paint scheme and we'll be sending the backrest pad in to Corbin to have the leather matched. Other than that, she likes it as it is. There might be a few other things I would do but I try not to influence her as it is HER scoot.

You can see what we HAVE done here:

The SEEG has a SEEG plate - but I call her the Great Pumpkin.

The old 95 RK is a red bored, stroked, cammed irritable starting Evo carbed wench - I call her the red headed b*tch - or Lucy.

The yellow Fatboy is just the Fatboy - though the RK and fatboy together have been called Ketchup and Mustard - So then the SEEG gets refferred to as buffalo sauce.

regardless they've all been called PITA on numerous cases.

Another day came and went and no one called from the dealership to say "Chris I have great news" well you know the rest. But, late this afternoon I told my wife Karen that I was really hoping to make the 5 hour drive to pick her up Saturday and she came back with a good one. She said what are you going to do make love to this bike all the way back, so it hit me the only Obvious name after that "The Mistress" what a perfect name. Thanks Karen.

I bought my bike and had my wife with me as I was bringing it home on a trailer. She wasn't real happy that I was buying a bike and she finally gave in when she found out I had made a deal and all I had to do was pick it up. She was leaving for a week long trip and had told me in the morning "I might as well see what it looks like in person since you'll pick it up when I'm gone" Years of training has paid off.

On the way home she was looking out the back window and proclaimed it's new name "The Green Goblin"

I can live with that since I call her white Escalade "The Ice Cream Truck"

Not sure if there is a thread for this already but saw where Guy named his redrum, so here's mine,

Please be patient, Seeing how we spend so much for theses bikes and always add more we liken it to having a mistriss. So anyhow we were watching the comedian Dave Chapell and he was talking about wearing a hat in a strip club and he was told to take it off, so he was saying he could shove dollars up a strippers you know what but could not wear a hat, So he says here you go "Bubbles". So from there it kind of stuck, always throwing money at my Mistriss Bubbles.
Just not sure about a Tattoo with Bubbles yet.So here is Bubbles.

To get the thread going again - a lot of new members including myself in the last year!

Montanakid deserves the credit for resurrecting the thread though - he started a new post this evening, though I'm sure it may be moved.  http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=75607.msg1035535#msg1035535

Heres my bikes story.......

I figured my little lady would be pissed if the name was associated with any other girl in my past/present life besides her, so the search continued.

On a nice long day trip with friends, the name for my bike emerged.  One of the couples on a bike following me mentioned that the sun reflecting off the paint on my ride was so bright.  His wife said that it was hot!

The group already new that I was searching my soul for an appropriate name.  My last bike was traded in without a name, and I swear this is why the electrical gremlins attacked it with vengeance.

By the end of the trip, the hot bike was "Cali", short for Caliente!!!  It seemed to ring true, and it is so!

My '12 SESG is named "Buster". My wife named the bike, because after the '95 Evo FLHTP "Big Bad Bertha" I used to ride, the SESG seemed like a mischievous adolescent. I gave him a last name, too... heh heh...

My wife named her '12 Tri Glide "Beyonce" - because she says she's Black, Beautiful, and DRIPPING with Diamonds... Diamond Ice, that is!

Well,,,yesterday I was inclined to come up with a few angry names for my 04 sweetheart.  ::). She managed to get me a speeding ticket, the first for 30 years.  :o.. It was just me and my pumpkin sweet heart out for a afternoon ride, just me and her... We were chugging along with traffic on 113 and my baby came up behind a few desiel trucks. I was just fine putting along at 65 but my sweetheart just couldn't handle all the yucky diesel fumes being sucked into her throaty intake, so suddenly she took controll of her throtal and accerlated with all her might to free her from all the bad desiel  fumes. When she got passed the second 18 wheeler she wanted to remind me of how big her beautiful cubes were so she proudly displayed 103 on her speed display. My baby was doing so well, I just let her have all controll and suddenly realized that a CHP had more love for my baby than I. He was chasing her with all his big manly red lights and wanted her to stop.   I had to take control of her so I pulled her off to the side.   When Mr CHP game up, he asked her if she knew how fast she was going..   My baby just sat there, not saying a word, I quickly realize my so called sweetheart baby is now throwing me under the bus and expecting me to take all the blame.  So I said Mr. officer, im sorry, im not quite sure how fast she was going  (i was holding my nose from growing a mile) my baby took me out for a relaxing ride after working a long day and she came behind a couple 18 wheelers and she was getting all choked up with their yucky deciel fumes. She tried to hold back but just couldn't take the smell so she accelerated with all her might to get around them, when she got around them and to the crest of the hill she was slowing to resume the speed limit. Mr. officer then states "this is not a two lane highway" why is your sweetheart in such a hurry when she has miles of multiple lanes to drive free in.  I said Mr Officer, she will have answer that, and she just sat there not saying a word.  Mr officer than asked me for all of her paper work and 5 mins latter he said, I'm not giving your sweetheart a ticket today but i am giving her operator a speed violation for doing 84 in a 65. He then explains, a violation of 85 or over would void the option to take traffic school which erases the violation. I think Mr CHP had a little crush on my baby, he could have thrown the book at us....  The moral of this story,,,   Keep your sweetheart in control at all time, she can get you in bad trouble.   :'(

Been thinking about this for awhile and since guys usually name their bikes after women, I'll go with Amelia. Aviation was a big part of my life and who better to honor than Amelia Earhart. My bike may not be fast but she's great to me and straight and steady.

The name I chose for my FLHXSE2 was Krypto.

However, my riding buddies saw something else in the picture attached.

Take a real close look at the reflection in the axle cover and you'll understand why they're calling her Gumby.  :o

My wife HATES the name.

I guess I'm feeling more like a weirdo after seeing all your inputs to this post; I've had over 30 new bikes and have never named one of them.  :nixweiss:

Hard to explain....but, all my scooters have ended up with a 'name'....if I didn't name them, someone else did and it'd stick.  :7: spyder

Now that I think of it, I never have named a bike before. Read this thread and felt compelled to do so. The power of Christ compells you, the power of Christ compells you....as a bolt of lightening scorches the air around me and roasts my skull into burnt, charred flesh. It must be late.  :nixweiss:

I give my bikes Hebrew girls' names (wife, and thus our kids, are Jewish).

'05 V-Rod: Naomi
'07 FLHX: Rivkah
'09 FLTR: Laila
'13 FLHRSE5: Leaning toward Maya (means 'water', and I'm getting the blue)
