You're assuming there will be something to discuss?  I guess we will know soon enough.   ;D

The new CVO's are listed on HD's website and there is a SEURG.  Not impressed with the color scheme or looks.

Have to agree with Charles,  no particular inovation.  HD presents an Ultra with a Shark Nose fairing and 18" wheels.

Charcoal Slate and Black Twilight with Quartzite Graphic.
Front suspension travel measures 4.6 inches, and rear travel is 3 inches.

The 2011 Harley-Davidson CVO Road Glide Ultra is priced at $35,999, and is seen here in Frosted Ivory and Vintage Gold with Quartzite Graphic. Its zumo 660 GPS unit has an integrated handlebar mount, and verbal commands feed through the stereo speakers.

Personally I never knew why HD made an Ultra version of the RoadGlide. Now they finally do it plus a CVO version too. I just may really consider trading in the 07 CVO Ultra for one. Just need to see what the piggybank has to report on that.

Just noticed in the first pic of the Charcoal/Black that it has chrome trim around the tourpak lights.  It's only in that one pic.  I looked for the chrome trim in the parts and accessories, but didn't see it.
Might be a nice addition, if it is available.

And again this ugly rear tail light. No option to replace my silver ghost .

I first heard about the CVO Ultra road glide I thought there may be a replacement for the 09 SERG.  However on seeing the bikes, they are just lacking the style the 09 has.

1.  No stretched bags
2.  Ugly tail light
3.  No trim between rear fender and bags
4.  Colors are not that good, and the design is not catchy.

To much work to make it into the bike I would want.

Hello, I sort a like the Ultra road glide, and the SE one as well.  I bought the Ultra Classic because of the extras like cb, tour pak, and the few other extras.  Now that they made an RG Ultra should be interesting how many more they sell and how many used RG the dealers get to trade up.  Thisis the first year, so 2012 may get better colors.

I actually like the looks of the RUSE.  It would have been nice to have the same rear end as the 09 SERG, but then again, they are trying to make this into a luxo-tourer instead of a hot rod that the 09 is.  I'm considering trading in the 07 SEUC for an '11 RUSE, either the gray/black or red/black....like them both.

Questions on the new Road Glide Ultra versus the Ultra Classic.

I have the 2010 Ultra Classic CVO or had since it was just destroyed in an accident.  I am going to get either the CVO Road Glide or Ultra but had some questions no one at my dealership can answer.  Thought you might be able to help.  Here they are:

1.  Why does the Road Glide come with the i-pod and not the Ultra Classic?

2.  Why does the Ultra Classic come with the integrated garage door opener and not the Road Glide (a feature I particularly liked on my 2010)?

3.  Does the Garmin on the Road Glide work the same as the one on the Ultra Classic (literature lists a interface module on the Ultra and not Road Glide)?

4.  Ultra lists the high performance clutch with hydraulic actuation but not listed on the Road Glide?

Do not understand why they did not make everything the same since almost everything else is.  Thanks for your time!

Cheers

I may not be a good judge of the sound of the stock pipes. I had a set of Rineharts on my old 2007 FLTR that put out a real strong sound. The supposed rumble is more like a kitten purring compared to the Rineharts.

Awesome looking bike............. great choice, and congratulations!!!! So far what are your overall impressions?

Again, my impressions are based on a comparison to my old 2007 FLTR.

Riding this CVO Ultra Road Glide is a dream. I'd say the comfort of ride is improved for me by at least 100% perhaps 200%. A couple of specifics on performance of the bike from a big guy perspective;

1. Riding in the mountains I was able to easily pull away from a friend on his 08 Ultra Classic. It was truly effortless. For comparison, he's running a 96ci but also weighs about 150lbs less than me.
2. On straight aways, pulling 110mph in 5th gear was a snap.
3. Had my wife on the back in the mountains, about 160lbs over recommended gross weight, and pulled up to 70mph on short straights without issue. Even did 90mph in 5th gear on the highway with her as passenger.
4. Handling in the curves is much improved over my 2007 and is probably due to the frame changes in the 2009 and later models.

Conclusion, I am just really impressed with the ride of this CVO. It's like the bike doesn't give a damn how much I weigh. It's my dream bike come true to life.

First off, congratulations on the new bike. I am supposed to get mine (Red and Black) Aug 23. I have a question for you about the NIM (Navigation Interface Module). Harley claims that if you are listening to the radio/cb/intercom that the gps directions will interupt the current mode and then switch back. Have you had a chance to try it out yet. Any info you can provide on this feature as well as the mp3 and phone on the gps is appreciated.

What about wind buffeting for the rider and passenger on your CVO RG? I've always owned touring models with the batwing fairing, which offers good wind protection for the rider and passenger. And any time I've ridden a RG, it had a much smaller windshield, which translated into more buffeting.

Well I can't claim that it's great. I am 6'4" and so any shield is pretty small. I had a 19" shield on my old FLTR the work pretty well but still had a ton of blousing of jackets. This windshield looks to be about 15" or 16" and face on wind can be distressing. More than likely I will be looking for a taller aftermarket windshield when they become available for this model. In general under calm conditions, the general flow of air was nice or certainly acceptable. When the wind kicked up to say 40 or 50mph gusts it was quite noticeable.

Joe, I believe their claim but have not taken my GPS out of the box yet. I did read in the manual that if you try to play media file on the GPS you will not hear them through the radio (media files could be interpreted as MP3?). I have also read on other forums that you can hook up via Bluetooth and if you get some add-ons from CallSet, that you can get your phone working through the microphone speaker combo of the intercom. I may try this but frankly I go on the road to get away from the phone. I did read the manual regarding GPS but it's only 5 pages and I believe there is a lot more information in the Zumo660 manual.

GL, DesertHOG

PS: I attached the five pages on GPS from the manual in a ZIP file.

Don't know if this will help, but I have the 660 (same one on the cvo). I have it hooked to the Aux port in the front and while listening to any music (XM, radio, CD, or MP3) it will interrupt the music to give you nav directions. I believe (seems to me anyway) that it actually pauses the song on the MP3's when it interupts and then picks right back up where it interrupted at.

I cannot imagine you cannot hear MP3's thru the radio. :nixweiss: Can anyone verify this?

Rob,
How did you get yours to pass directions through the speaker while you have XM or Radio playing?  I have to switch my HK head unit over to the "AUX" mode before I can hear the directions on my 660, and that prevents me from listening to the radio.  I can listen to the mp3 on the memory card in the 660 and it does pause the music when giving voice commands.  Did you do something different to allow you to have your radio in AUX and listen to XM or the radio?

Ahhhhh... there in could lie the problem. I have a stock bike and listen to XM and MP3's thru the 660 itself. I forgot you have it in the radio unit itself. I apologize! Wish I could have been more  (any) help!!  :-\

Test rode the RG Ultra CVO version in Sturgis and the engine temperature was so hot I had to hold my right leg away from the engine on the highway to keep from feeling like my pants were going to catch on fire. This was after the bike had not been ridden for about 45 minutes do to an accident on the demo route. Had 8 to 10 miles of two lane riding (to Whitewood) and then the same mileage back on the Interstate to Sturgis exit 30. Could not believe how hot the engine got. Love the looks and all the extras, but could not stand that much heat.

A few more things, what about engine heat, and heat from the exhaust? How about engine noise from the 110 this year? And how would you rate the quality of the stereo sound at 65 to 80 mph? Thanks.
Exhaust heat compared to my old Rinehart dual exhaust is way too hot. I am looking for a solution that will probably involved Fullsac X Pipe.
Engine noise: Nothing out of the ordinary.. darn quiet compared to my 103.
Stereo quality is off the charts even at 100+.

Took delivery of our new charcoal slate/black SE Ultra Road Glide today.  When we first rode it a week ago the wind was too much for wife and we didn't do the deal.  Dealer ordered in two different windshields. The smoke tint Kuryakyn one did the job and looks really great on it. Reduced the wind to about what wife experienced on the '07 SE Ultra.  I went with the new screamin eagle slip-on exhaust that look like the supertrapps.  They have a bit louder and deeper sound than the stock CVO mufflers but are street legal stamped and I think they look good with the trumpeted shape and the disc baffles visible.  Didn't get to ride it more than bringing it home and putting it in the garage but plan to put some miles on it this weekend.   Now I'm going to have to change my handle!!

I'm crazy about the new SE Road Glide Ultra ugly tail light and all. I've made a deal to trade my 08 Ultra for one in Red/Black. It's due in this month and I can't wait.

It is the fastest color ya know!!

So what is the height of this shield?

It's the Airmaster Touring Windshield with slight re-curve.  Measures 14" vertically from fairing and 21" angle measurement.  Kuryakyn website has some good pics of it under Touring windshields.

luv2ryd, intersted in that new windshield.  What is your height and inseam and do you see over this sheild?  I am 6' with 32" inseam and on my prior RG had a Clearview GT small screen that I saw over with no problem and I liked that shield but am willing to try something new as well and depending on your reply will order this one and give it a try.  Thanks.

My height is 5'9" and 31" inseam.  Top of the windshield is about my eye level.

I'm curious too.

I have a KW that I believe is their mid height, but that sucks the big one and anything over 55 mph I get sooo much wind buffetting that it lifts my helmet from my head.

I bought a stock height '09 standard RG windshield from my salesman new '09 RG.  He bought the tall replacement stock HD windshield and I got his new old one.

This works a lot better but still not what I would consider perfect.

My windshield up the front from the bottom of the shield to the top of the shield is 17".  If you measure up from the instrument pod to the top of the shield it's 12".  I'm 5'-13" and quite tall in the saddle.  I look over the top and eye line to top of shield nets me a point about 100' in front of the bike.

If I'm going down the freeway and put my hand up in front of my face and raise it up, just above my mid helmet above my eyes I get to the air stream.  The side of my head gets lots of ear wind too.  On a side note I've seen the guys with the new deflectors down between the tank and the inner fairing have seen some reduction in air volume with them.  For the price I may try a pair.

I've now seen the new SEURG windshields and at first I thought they were recurved at the top, but they are not.  The angle they lean back at looks more sloped than my '09 windshield and maybe the more laid back angle helps to flow "over" rather than up and back down right in my face.

I love my '09 SERG, but the windshield remains one of the major complaints for me; don't even mention the crappy seats on these bikes, that's a whole other story...

More windshield info / research is still needed in my opinion.

I like em , but the paint scheme sucks. Just plain boring. A king tour pak just doesn't look right on a road glide. to me the road king custom is a much prettier bike and with a chopped pak it rocks.

We will be putting on miles this weekend so I'll report back Monday.  When we rode at 75 on the Interstate it seemed good.  Granted, we didn't ride far but wife said it was 100% better than stock shield and we both really like the appearance.  The light gray tint really compliments the bike color.

That's why they make different models and colors.  Pretty boring if we all liked the exact same thing.

I looked at the one my dealer has in Gray... and while BSR LOVES the rear seat and king tour pak, This bitch is much heavier (or feels like it anyway) than my 09 SERG....

All of these points come to mind.

Where's the "Eagle" graphics?
Colors are blah...
Where's the cool taillights the SERG/FHXSE have?
and yes... wher'd the stretched bags go?

That's odd. It seems lighter than my 2010 Stock Ultra. Even the service tech said it felt "heavy" when he test rode it (without the saddlebags).

Got the camera back, took a few pics and posted a new profile pic but am having trouble attaching the others.  Will work on it tonight.

Rode over 400 miles this weekend and we love the bike and have no regrets at all going to the road glide! Both passenger and rider comfort is great and the ride is awesome, feels like it's got power steering and so far the upper engine is much quieter than the '07 110.  It's great to have a quiet 5th gear finally.  Yesterday the winds were really bad but the stability was great even in sidewind.  We are very pleased with the Kuryakyn windshield.  The integrated ipod is really a cool feature.

According to the HD site its 943lbs in running order.

889 for the 2010 Ultra.

The bike steers lighter without the fairign bolted to the bars ( the Road Glide advantage)

DesertHOG,
First off, congratulations on the new bike.
Thanks,
cvosjoe

The navigation voice will interrupt the music to give you directions unless you use mute switch on the nav so that it does not.  I believe there is a volume control for the voice on the nav.  If the nav volume is set to lowest point and the mute is not turned on, the music will be interrupted with silence. All in all very intuitive system that is easy and quick to learn how to use.
