2009 Springer Questions
« on: May 05, 2009, 08:39:43 AM »

Hi all,
I just made 500 miles on my 09 and this being my first Harley I had a few questions before I take it in for the 500 mile.
1) Is it normal to have some (what to me sounds like) upper engine noise? Not really bad just there.
2) Accelerating through 5th and 6th I get a deep vibration especially when its under load say up hill. It really doesn't become noticeable at all until 5th gear.
3) Being bone stock, you guys always say you can help me spend my money, what should I have done first? I am getting a detachable back rest but thats for the wife not me  :huepfenlol2:

Working on some pics will post in the next week or so. Thanks in advance.

1) yes its normal on a 110,
2) Dont labor the motor below 2000rpm these babies prefer to rev, the power band kicks in at about 2500rpm
3) bone stock, these motors are severly restricted cus of EPA emission laws, they run hot because of these restrictions, to release the inbuilt power you will need at least to have the ecm tuned but you will get betta results if you fit a after market exhaust system

That is correct, V/H has quiet baffles also, I had to install them as I live in a "over 55" Mobile Home Park and I just about scared 2 ladies
to death when I started my Springer. They jumped in the air and just about got whiplash. hahahahaha

I agree go for new pipes and a tuner and make sure you have it dyno tuned for maximum performance.
