Found out today I'm getting a set of the Gerbing pants for Christmas. Will be great with the jacket liner and gloves that have already kept me so warm and toasty sometimes.
Gerbing said the pants liner shouldn't be worn like a set of long underwear; that a set of long underwear should still be between the liner and your skin. They also said the outer pants were commonly still worn over blue jeans. All that being so it seemed that layering would be more effective with the outer pants rather than the liner. They're supposed to be ok in wet weather should you trouble in to some and if you start on a day that's cold and then warms up some it'll be a lot easier to lose a layer of gear and electrical harness if it's outer wear rather than underwear.

Read this once, read it twice and I'm still scratchin my head. I guess I don't need pants smarter than what's in em.
Big B
Spider, they ain't smarter. They's just warmer. Since my sister had no idea what else to get me for Christmas, and I really didn't either, something that I might actually use occasionally but likely never would have bought myself seemed like a good idea [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] .

Don Don Don, I do wonder about you sometimes.
A)Unless you're Bill Clinton, what do you keep in your pants ?
-
Y'know Brian, just because it ain't the smartest part in the world don't mean it's not worth keeping warm and comfortable.

That's right bro. Some of this stuff is enough to... well.... to make a cat vomit ;D .

Isn't this now a candidate for off topic???

Don, I'm assuming you are talking about a liner or heated outer pants? My personal preference would be the liner, over a lightweight pair of quality long johns like Patagonia Capilene. I've had a pair of their LG's for 20 years and they're still good as new. Then the jeans...if it's cold enough to need the electrics, it's probably not going to warm up enough that day to need to do anything but maybe turn them off. the object here is to keep the boys, thighs, knees warm when needed. Just seems more versitile to me...

Don, there ain't no way in hell anything involving "wet" and "electrical" is getting strapped on to my lower unit.
-
Nice sister!

This thread is not living up to it's potential. [smiley=nixweiss.gif] If we can get 9+ pages out of cat vomit, I'm sure we can do better than this with Hot Pants.
The gauntlet has been thrown down now.

"The good Lord gave men brains and a penus. Unfortuneatly, not enough blood to have them both work at the same time."
............... I have no idea whose quote that is, it is not mine.

I'm in here looking for threads on riding gear and am wondering why my brains not working :-/.

Is it plugged in?

Might want to consider the danger of melting an outerwear suit? If it has a heatshield fine, but someone in a group I ride with melted thiers on an exhaust and left a mess on the pipe and I'm sure ruined the heated pants.
OK my contributin to the hot pants theme:
