Tie Down Front End 2012 CVO Road Glide When Traveling
« on: January 23, 2012, 06:21:35 PM »

I have a Load All ( http://www.loadallmotorcycleramps.com/index.html ) ramp system on my 06 Ford 150 truck.  I don't think I will be able to use the handle bars on my Road Glide like I did on my 02 Road King to tie down.

I use a front end CONDOR® PS-1500 chock that is fixed to the ramp system.

Any advise or recommendations will be greatly appreciated.  :orange:

I was just forced to trailer mine to the shop today for the first time. I slipped a double loop strap around the crash bar inside the fairing supports and hooked tied owns to them. It worked very well for me. No way would I strap to the handle bars, guarantee there would be scratches on the paint.

IMHO strapping to the handle bars is asking for cracked broken bars. Too many documented cases of that. Engine guard is what I use up front.

I use these on the lower triple tree and they work great. http://powertye.com/store/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=2
Then I use these on the saddlebag supports to the floor track. http://powertye.com/store/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=23

I've been reluctant to use the engine guard when tying down the beast.  I read in the manual that HD uses what they call a "break away" bolt at the top.  If this is true, I would not be using something that is designed to break as a tie down.

Any information about the upper guard bolt would be greatly appreciated...

I can tell you that from my experience, it's stronger than the frame tab it's attached to on a SEEG anyway...... :nervous:    spyder

Use a loop tie down threaded through the lower tripple tree.  I made a "threading tool" out of a piece of clothes hanger to "fish" the loop tie down through the tripple tree.
