Video--motorcycle air bags
« on: September 07, 2006, 10:00:06 AM »

I know this topic has come up before, and mostly laughed at, but this is the first crash-test video I've ever seen:

http://www.yahoo.com/s/385433

It's something to think about--broken leg versus dead after a 45 mph T-bone of a minivan.

Watch the impact with and then without the airbag. Watch the way the crash dummy's neck gets bent back without the airbag. It looks as though it would work.  [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

A significant difference in what happens to the neck.

Harley won't even get us ABS; which would not require a complete remodeling and restructuring of the body panel system.  Does anyone really believe that short of a FHTSC or DOT mandate they'd really consider anything like this?

Didn't Diva just get some boots with a bar and shield on them?  All you got to do is piss her off  [smiley=confused5.gif] .

Now that Billy Lane is off the road we shouldn't need one. I wonder if it would have helded the guy he ran over if he had the air bag on his mo-ped? [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Well, for one reason or another, I can't get the link to open, but while searching for an alternate way in I found this jacket http://www.airbagvest.com/index.html

On these wide open roads in the country we don't percieve a large risk, so we wear a T-shirt while riding. Now if I was back in the high threat environment of DC commuting I might invest in this system.  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

speaking of safety and chrome, how about a '55 chevy front bumper that wraps around the whole bike??.
