Are all 2011 FLTRUSEs created equal ... apparently not. I haven't seen any posts about this yet but here goes. I took delivery of my 2011 FLTRUSE Rio Red/Black Ember on Aug 31 and until yesterday I had not seen another Rio Red/Black Ember bike in person. I have seen many pictures that you guys have posted of your bikes but never noticed until yesterday. You're not going to believe this but my rear fender and filler strips are Black Ember not Rio Red. It gets even better. On the other bike the gas lid (no emblem) and tank console (plain black insert) like the non-cvo ultras. My bike has the bar and shield emblem on the gas lid and the carbon fiber looking tank console insert.
I know ...
:worthless:
As soon as the sun comes up I'll take a picture and post it.

I wonder if this is a result of producing the CVO's on the main assembly line instead of being built by a team.
-
I not sure how the assembly line assembly would cause this. I believe all the painted parts are supplied as required for each model. I believe this may suggest the paint shop messed up.

Is that the way your bike came from the factory? That is the street glide fascia isn't it?

Sure looks like it
-
Not Sreet Glide fascia. The SESG's have extended saddle bags and the tail lights are in the fascia, not on the fender!

Not SESG----that looks like the rear fascia from a regular Street Glide....
-
If you look at the pics on Rob's post ypu can see the difference. Yours seems to have a Street Glide fender.

I stand corrected.
-
So some black Street Glide made it out the door with a nice red fender and a rear fascia with lights.... More likely the correct fender didn't get grabbed when it was supposed to and went back to spares. But who knows. Line mechanic would have had a heck of a time hooking up those lights to the standard FLXH harness.

I added the streetglide fascia. It was color matched to the fender and filler strips.

As far as I know there isn't a black ember fender for a street glide. Black ember is a new color that would only be available for a cvo.

Looks like you have a one off factory custom!
-
Careful, they will send you a bill.... :o

"Quality Control" at HD seems to by an oxy-moron :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2: :nixweiss:

I think there's a lot more than Quality Control at HD affecting these numbers.

That's potentially dangerous though. Were I a buyer looking at this bike used I'm not sure an owner could convince me it hadn't been wrecked and had the wrong fender put back on it.

Yeah, like lower production numbers maybe?

Good point.

As far as I know there isn't a black ember fender for a street glide. Black ember is a new color that would only be available for a cvo.
Mystery solved. They put the rear fender and filler strips for a 2011 FLHTCUSE6 Black Ember/Rio Red on my bike.

Question now is are you going to ask them to correct the mistake?

They already asked me and I said no. I actually prefer the black fender.
-
ok guys is it just me or maybe i am not seeing right? i went to my dealer today and saw a red FLTRUSE with flame job on front fender
-
Sounds to me like they've got to get their QA act together on the main plant assembly line. I don't ever remember the MoCo putting the wrong parts on the CVOs when they were hand assembled. Looks like their intermixing CUSE and RUSE part. I guess because they are the the same colors, they can't tell which parts go on which bike. Maybe they need to put pictures of a completed Red/Black SEUC and RUSE on the line so the good workers can tell the difference in parts.

Gives new meaning to the term factory custom, you just never know what you'll get.

My left side cover belongs on a different bike.

Am I seeing things or are you one of the luckiest men on earth to have a new Red RUSE "AND" still have your Triple Red :pepper: :pepper: :pepper:

I wish, had to let the triple red go. :'(
