I have noticed that if I stop for a short while like a fuel stop and then fire it up I do not see the engine light illuminate.  But if it has been shut down for a longer time then I do.  This is different from other bikes I have had where the engine light came on each time no matter what.

Ran the "diag" deal through the ODO.  No codes.

P (ECM) nonE
S (TSM/TSSM/HFSM) nonE
SP (speedometer) nonE
t (tachometer) nonE
b (ABS codes) nonE

The part numbers of these modules repsectively...

31869-11
68924-07
70731-10
74740-10
32836-09A

And to top it off......drum roll.... CHECK ENGINE light is ON at key on (after the testing) All systems normal WTH!!!

Started it (no ride). Jumped to life, great throttle response etc etc.  You might have something there.  Or.....

Poltergeist!
