towing with cuse
« on: August 18, 2011, 08:33:20 PM »

I need to figure a way to carry quite a bit of gear for training... Im thinking a trailer is my only option.  Anyone have advice for towing safely? I think ill get the kuryakin hitch, but all the inexpensive trailers i see are top carriers mounted on harbor frieght frames.  Safe? I really dont need fancy roaddawg style... Just need to carry a pelican rifle case and my gear.  Thanks!

I assume trailering is not a condoned activity by the MOCO.

So knowing the implications of possible outcomes, I only wanted to repeat an activity that many have already tried.

The bushtech trailer I have was a dream to pull.

You can find them around, be patient.

Maybe you will run into a used one for a grand?

My buddy pulls a bunkhouse, and believe me, you never forget it is back there.

New turbo in white runs about 2600.00

Well worth the piece of mind.

There's nothing like an N-line. They make the best hitch on th market too.

My only issue with the N-Line trailers is that it leans over with the bike putting a lot more pressure on a Kickstand that already has quite a load already.

The Trailer is loaded while leaning and a bit odd looking, but it may make it through some doorways. (Bushtec will not)

I would buy into the "tracking" story for N-Line (single track follows motorcycle tires), but that implies that the 2 wheel bushtec does not track as well and I would disagree.

My buddy I ride with has the N-Line and the driveability of both are very good.  That leaning thing when stopped is the deal breaker for me.

Keats,

     To each his own...

In 6 years I've dragged my N-line almost 50K miles. I wouldn't tow a two wheel trailer with a motorcycle. It's not just that it tracks with the bike, the biggest advantage is the changing contact patch. When the trailer leans with the bike it also turns with the bike, the trailer tires contact patch changes and steers the trailer with the bike.

That implies that the N-Line tracks better?

Absolutely, ... go into a turn hot with a two wheel trailer, it can break loose an swing to the outside. as you lean the weight of a one wheel trailer to the inside, the inertia of the turn transfers and becomes  down force. Think "skid pad"...

The only other thing about an in line one wheeled trailer is that when loaded with gear, it's like trying to push/pull a wheelbarrow with one handle when it's not connected to the bike.   :nixweiss:

I have been towing a Bushtec Roadstar for 5 years now and love it. It absolutely does NOT push in the corners. Weighs only 125 lbs empty.
The guy I ride with used to run a trailer with a ball and coupling setup. He had an issue with it binding when leaning in tight corners. He took my Roadstar on a 4500 mile trip. He purchased a Bushtec for himself a week later. Said he would never go back. One nice thing about a Bushtec hitch is that it is a hidden style. When you are not pulling the trailer, you pull the pin out and there is no sign you have a hitch at all. It is about $300 though.

So you saying that a trailer with only one wheel touching the road can hold a turn better than a Bushtec with 2 wheels on the road....

interesting

I would bet your motorcycle would "slide out" before the Bushtec trailer.

This is a silly argument, if you like the N-Line better why should I argue.
