Title: 10 Years After
Post by: Sea Biscuit on February 24, 2022, 09:17:23 PM
Well, the time has come. Sold my 2012 CVO Road Glide Custom (the “Skunk”). It was a good run, lots of smiles and fun but time to move on.

Bought a 2022 CVO Road Glide in Blue Steel, April delivery.

Two things I know for sure:

1) Since I bought a new Harley, there will now be massive changes for the 2023 model year. So for those waiting for major improvements, you can thank me later! ;D

2) I am not adding/modifying/increasing/improving/changing/updating etc. anything on this Harley this time…ok…even I don't believe that, but I am going to try!

Now where's that parts catalog! ::)

P.S. By the way, 10 Years After, great classic band!

My Blue FLTRXSE came in today, I will pick it up in a week. I am pretty sure I can help guarantee ( like you) 2023 will be all new bike.

Sunk was the hardest bike for me to trade.  Still believe its the best looking bike Harley has made, I loved mine.

The 23 Blue Steel is a great looking bike.  Congratulations both of you on the new bikes.

Last time Harley did a bike update on touring bikes was the year after the Anniversary, so it might be 24 before they update.

Harley, for ever,   Has always had the CVO (or Screamin' Eagle as us old timers say) 7ci larger than the standard motor offered.
Back in 2000 it was the 88ci and my Screamin' Eagle Road glide was a 95ci. Then the standard was 96ci and the CVO 103ci.
Then the standard motor 103ci and the CVO was 110ci. So in 2017 when the standard motor became a 107ci the CVO was a 114ci.
I bought it feeling good about it. Then the Very next year the CVO went to a 117ci. It kinda really bothered me. Lol
So,... I am sure that now that I've bought a beautiful new 2022 CVO next year something will be changed.

I agree…letting go of the Skunk was hard but a lot to like about the M8 version (engine, fit and finish, bags, etc.), so 10 years was a good run.

Also agree with you about 2023…Harley Anniversaries are usually about a flashy paint job, anniversary decal, price increase due to the anniversary models and the country organization of the big party in Milwaukee…but Jochen Zeitz is definitely doing things different, so who knows.

Stay the course or engine increase with new frame, shocks etc. for 2023…or totally new touring design with the heart being some form of the Pan American engine…time will tell.

I've been riding Haley's since the 1970’s…from 74” to 117”…we will always be chasing horsepower (is there ever enough :)), but I'm OK with the 117”…for now! :)

Like the old saying goes “Never ride faster than your angel can fly”! ;D
