Title: Chopped tour pack reviews
Post by: Beach Bum on February 21, 2023, 12:23:49 PM
Anyone out there using a chopped tour pack? I’ve owned CVO’s with king tour packs, but never chopped. I like my Street Glide w/o the box, but thinking about a smaller box for occasional long rides. Would like to hear about your personal experience as to size, storage capacity, looks or any general comments.

Have had and currently have all; chopped, king, razor.  If you want to be able to lock a helmet inside go with King (unless it's a little lid).  Aside from that no one else's experience really matters as it's just your subjective choice for appearance.

Thank you for the response, but I am looking for others experiences. Storing a helmet is not a priority for me.  I'm looking more for info on storing clothing, etc while on a trip.  King vs Chopped.Did you find the storage space for the chopped adequate?  Realize it's subjective, but I'm ok with that.  Thanks.

I had a 2005 CVO with the chopped standard.  Had a 2010 and now 2014 with the full size tour pack and wouldn’t go back to a chopped.  More comfortable for passenger and you never have enough room.  JMO.

If I got a street glide again, I would get a chopped tp, looks more sporty, but yes not as comfortable for the passenger, but I'm not married

I have both the King and the Chopped they both have there purpose, The King works great for long trips of 7 + days and the Chopped works great for short trips of 1 to 6 days. hope this helps !!!

I run a chop tp all the time I do long road trips alot. It's good for things like rain gear, extra pair of shoes or boots, snacks. I also put my small air compressor in it.

All passengers have always preferred riding against the King pak; even if they didn't like the look as well.  Aside from that there is no such thing as too much space.  Purely for appearance I like the razor

Have a king on my Road Glide Limited--great for the wife.........if I could find a chopped for my CVO that matched I would be all over it.....usually ride that one solo....

I also prefer to ride my CVO Street Glide without a Tour-Pak.
But I bought the Chopped Tour-Pak for longer trips.
Fits a lot of luggage and is also super (sporty) from the overall view  ;D
Clear recommendation for the chopped

You have a king size on your 2013 cvo in your signature. What makes you consider a chopped for your newer cvo?

The chopped Tour pak has always been enough room for what I need.
The appearance is So much better than the King.

Pizza box is the razor, not the chopped

Thanks for all the feedback. I found a color matched chopped tour pack and it’s on its way.  :cucumber:

I think you will be happy with it.  I have had both.  The chopped looks better.  It tended to stay on the bike more than the King.  Really only used them for traveling.  When I would get to a destination the King would come off until time to leave.  Chopped usually stayed on.  At home they were both usually off

I only use the TP for travel....so, I have a King......had a chopped once and found it useful for taking a pizza home.....of course only thin crust.

Cool read. Being that I nor my friends ride with a razor pack, what can you possibly use a razor for?   ;D

Decent looking place with a spoiler on it for a high mounted third brake light.  Convenient place to wire in a USB port so can throw in phone, tablet, or other gadgets that need charging.  Gloves, chaps, a chamois, some common tools (much of this in a lid organizer), small flattish shopping stuff.  Burgers and fries.  Actually a lot of common stuff.  But definitely not a helmet!

Apologize not a newer model.  Mine is on an old Road King.  For what it might illustrate here you go:

Function over form!! Go with the king and make it detachable. I have yet to see any tourpak improve the looks of a scooter.
