Can't remember a year when the paint patterns in all the colors were different. Orange & Black is nice, but I would have liked to see it in the flame pattern paint scheme (guess I'm old fashioned :D).

Yes some of the paints a carried between different CVO's, not wild about that.

However this is the First time that They did more of a CVO paint job on the CVO Road Glide Ultra or limited.  While I liked my 2015, it really was not an obvious CVO paint job like these are.

I really like the Red and Black, the orange is nice too, Traditional colors.

MSRP of 44,899 plus $3000 for the Yellow and also the Orange paint,, NO THANX. Plus the uncharge of $1000. Plus whatever stealers markup. Gonna be over 50K

I really like the orange bike but my dealer is saying $51,800. I do crazy stuff with my money but I'm having trouble justifying that price. Honestly, if it would have came in with a 131 I would probably buy it.

Joe, for just a few more dollars you could get it with a 131”, warranty intact. It’d only be 13 to 15% more for the 131 kit, not sure the 131 race motor available yet.  :bananarock:

Harley may have truly priced itself out of the market this time. $50,000 for these bikes? A frame from 2009? The new bikes need about $3,000 in suspension work. No second headset? I could take my 2015, rebuild the motor, upgrade the stereo and put 18"  wheels and tires on it. I think I would then have a much better looking bike.

I guess my question is, what is in the 2022 that would make anyone spend that much money? I've yet to see the bike in person. Why? I've called three dealerships and each has no idea when they might receive one or even if. Seems to me that's a bad joke.

If 13-15% is right, that's another $7-8k. HD's 131 kit would still be underpowered from what my 117 twin cams are now but it would probably be okay for a while. Ultimately I know I'd be adding after market cams, exhaust, and tuner.

Then I'm sure I'd add suspension, bars, reverse, CB and wiring for headsets and, of course, a fat front tire setup. Conservatively another $12-13k.  Now I'm north of $70k and I'm sure there's more I'm not thinking of right now.

So the question really is, do I like the paint job this much? My dealer has one coming in with an ETA of 2 weeks from now. I don't see me making a final decision until I see the bike in person but it's fun to think about.

I agree I’ve bought three cvo bikes and if the limited had the right color I probably would have bought one. Although I really liked the 2010 limited colors. I like the blacked out engine and exhaust on the red fade just unsure about the flames. These colors are defiantly loud again this year.

The Huge price jump from a Road Glide Limited, with basically the same size motor makes it hard to justify.  Then consider in the ST version of the street glide or road glide you do get the same size motor.

The motor should be bigger than the non CVO, it always was in the past.  Then 3K for paint?  Spent 5K to have my wife's road glide custom painted its a 1 of a Kind.

I told them $40 for my SERGU and $30 for my RK and we have a deal. I know that ain't gonna happen. I also told them if they're willing to put the 131 kit in it I'd give them the $51,800 they're asking. My other option is to buy the 22 and keep the 16 for now. I could swap parts from the old bike to the new one and then sell the 16 for less.

Its never a financial decision. You only live once!

It's not..... but it is. I've been looking at Quantico HD's custom bikes and when you get in the $70s a finished bike is appealing. On the other hand, I like working on my bikes so there's that. It's an internal struggle between the kid in me and the "adult" that I'm sure is in there somewhere.

A paint job on yours would be a lot cheaper

I thought it was sacrilegious to paint a CVO?  :nixweiss: When I try to justify this purchase it's all about the paint job at this point. I really like the orange paint job. It reminds me of Pete's RG and that's been my all time favorite paint job. Then I look at my 16 and it's a beautiful bike. Don't know if I could paint it.

Don't know what I'm gonna do but this is fun for me for now.

Finally another CVO RG Ultra - and well out of my league now. Even if I got a great trade in price it would still be more then my SEEG was new.

Some do say/think it's sacriegious to paint a CVO to avoid that you could buy some unpainted (custom) tins and have them painted. Install new tins and put your original tins in storage if you want to return it to that when ready to sell or sell original tins if buyer prefers the custom tins/paint.

I'm loving the orange RGU, but I just cannot justify the price. I thought 38k for my 2015 was stupid, but the dealer/owner is my neighbor and he got me drunk in his office and sent me out to ride it!  :huepfenlol2: Now I have spent 2k on suspension, 2k on stereo, 6k on engine work all in the last 2 years on the 2015. I would at least have to do suspension work on a new one. I could probably live with exhaust and tune. The stereo I would just have to hear to know if that is adequate. I do like the Road Glide ST, and I will probably buy one of those in a couple of years when I can pick up a low mileage used one for about 15-17k from some guy getting a divorce.

I’m looking at the Orange Road Glide Ultra. I wish I could see one before I put the deposit down!
I have had 4 Ultras, 3 of them CVOs. My wife is with me 99% of the time and she is worried about the wind on the Road Glide after taking to a couple with a Road Glide custom. Too much wind they said. I told her that there bike was a custom, not a Limited.
When it warms up next week we plan on going to the dealer and riding both an Ultra and a Road glide to see what she thinks.

It will probably need a taller windshield. I find the 14" Freedom perfect for the wife on the back with the stock seat on it.

Orange. I like chrome and wouldn’t buy a blacked out bike as in the Dante’s Red. Yellow would be cool but my better half doesn’t care for it.
As far as the windshield goes I’m sure a 14” shield would benefit my wife but I don’t like looking through a windshield. I’ve had 10” shields on all my Ultras. I can look over it and she doesn’t complain.
I was hoping for a 122 or 131 this year like everyone else. I asked the dealer how much a 122 kit installed would be. 6K! Forget it! My current 114 with the Harley torque cam  is the best running bike I’ve owned. A tuned 117 with slip ons would not maybe even have the same 120 ft pounds if torque I have now.

What color you getting?
Not me. I'm having a GRC moment currently with the MoCo. Love/hate relationship.

Keep in mind a 10" windshield on a Bat wing fairing is different than a 10" on a Roadglide.

What's the deal with the $1000 surcharge that is listed in the pricing section?

You pay base price plus paint (if you want yellow or orange) plus freight plus this $1000 surcharge?

Plus whatever surcharge the dealer adds on?

I understood the surcharge when I bought my 2021  road king because of material prices going up since they were priced.

Why they didn't just increase the base price of the 2022s I have no idea.

Supposedly if the supply chain returns to normal, they can drop the surcharge.

I think it was Harley figured if Dealers can charge over MSRP and get it, that they should do the same.

I doubt they will ever drop it.  The are well known for removing stuff from the bike and raising the price.

Touring Models are a disappointment.  114 year old frame and suspension.  So you need to upgrade the suspension and then it's almost close to its competitors.  But still doesn't have all the ride modes and such that the competition does.

That said, Harley hit a Home run with the Pan America.  It's very competitive with its competition and beats most of its competition.  It comes from the Factor with lots of power, great suspension.  Five ride modes and two you can set up.   Ride modes make a huge difference in throttle response, compression braking, suspension compression and rebound, and so much more.  Yes, wheelie control is a benefit.

Sportster S put the sport back into sportster.

These two bikes show Harley can make a powerful bike, a bike with good suspension and with modern technology.  I wish they would put some of that into the Touring bikes.

I got to lay eyes on a 2022 yellow RGU last week. The paint is very good, and on par with some of the best paint schemes of years past. I liked the bike, but it did not make me go WOW..... I GOT TO HAVE THAT!!! Took a ride on my '15 CVORGU yesterday, and fell in love with it all over again. I'm pretty sure I've bought my last CVO.

I looked at an orange CVO Road Glide Limited yesterday at a nearby dealer.  Both my wife and I agreed that this was the best paint quality and detail that we’ve seen on a CVO. The hand painted striping was impressive and impeccable. Kudos to Gun Slinger.
I have one on order.
