110 rebuild 130-Torque and 127 HP
« on: December 31, 2022, 01:58:38 PM »

My 2015 110 T/C Street Glide with 90k miles of mellow non-speeding cruising across these United States was starting to consume a little oil so I decided to send her in for a refresh to include:

1.   Rebuilt Crank (Dark Horse) and replace bearing
2.   Heads rebuilt and ported (Zipper’s Sport max)
3.   Jugs bored out (Zipper’s)
4.   New pistons (Zipper’s)
5.   Replace transmission bearings
6.   New cams RS-576 and bearings
7.   HPI reworked Throttle body to 55mm
8.   Feuling Hydraulic Lifters/ tappets #4050
9.   Cam Chain Tensioners (Zipper’s)
10.   Head Pipe (Bassani)
11.   Spark Plugs
12.   Dyno tuned
13.   Compression 10.5

Had the work done by “Dyno Dave” at JD’s Cycle Works in Nazareth PA.

Originally, I was thinking about getting a 124 kit but Dave talked me out of it.  He promised that he would get a performance bump out of the 110 while maintaining reliability and rideability.

As far as the performance bump, you can see the dyno before and after results.  Way better than I expected.

But what really made my jeans tight was how much smoother the motor runs.  At idle it seems to shake a little more than before.  This was expected due to the additional overlap of the RS-576 cams over the 24D’s that were replaced.  As soon as you put the throttle to it, it smooths out like butter.

At first after dropping it off, I was regretting not increasing the motor cubic inches, but after seeing the dyno sheet and riding it a couple hundred miles…….All I can say is that “Dyno Dave” is the man!

Nice! I have seen him on YouTube, seems like he knows what he's doing, I would like to take my bike to him for the tune. Only 385 miles from me. Sounds like you're ready for the ride to BC

Nice.. I am sure that runs.. I only rode with you once..but I am still smiling about your comment " mellow" ride.  A few years back I had mine rebuilt in Va and I am 120/120 range.  Enjoy the new power.. are you still running the water cooled heads?

They just bored it out as to use plus sized pistons. I believe he said the pistons were .005 over.

If you decide to take it to him let me know and we’ll plan some fun things to do. Not sure about the tuners in your area, But Dave has been considered the best in the northeast, especially when it comes to tuning with the TTS

Good to hear from you. Yes, still running with the water cooled head. That’s one of the main reasons I decided to rebuild instead of buy new.  HD not putting lowers on the Street Glides anymore. Now I’m sure the 2023 will have lowers and wet heads just to get my goat.

The total project was just a little over $7K and it took 6 weeks.

My biggest concern was parts availability.  Since Harley's big bore kits have a 29-week lead time also weighed in my decision to rebuild.  One thing is for sure, I feel fortunate to have a JD's Cycle close by because there is no way my local Harley Dealer could get these results.  I almost considered removing the motor and have Zipper's rebuild it in their shop.

But with Dave being the turner, mechanic and owner was the best fit.

Dave definitely seems like he knows what to do. Good luck with your build. I had my 16 done a few years ago by a very special guy who is also on this site. I am very happy about the quality and way it turned out.  Stuart. 👍
