Fullsac Muffler Cores

I wish to install Fullsac Power Cores on my 2022 CVO Road Glide. Previously (on my past Harleys) I have installed Cores, Header, and TTS master tune . With TTS impossible to get I am considering just doing cores and leaving the stock headpiece and stock ECM flash. I just want to make sure that if I leave the catalytic converter I can do cores to make it sound like a Harley and not create a heat problem with a stock map and air cleaner.
Just know I am satisfied with the performance. I really like the idea of just doing cores. Thoughts?

It’s not on a new one but when I first got my 16 i replaced just the cores on my mufflers until the warranty was up. I didn’t noticed any difference in the heat at all, was still just as warm as doing nothing at all.

Great timing for this question as I am going through the same dilemma!

I have been chasing Hp/torque ever since riding Harleys (since the shovel head days with that “monster” 74 cubic inches) and I now have a 2022 CVO Road Glide with 117”, and it’s plenty of power for me and is the first Harley that I’m not messing with the engine.

So here is my opinion:

1) From a couple of tuners that I’ve talked to, the stock headpipe is a great quality headpipe. Also cat in versus cat out, they have measured and there is not a significant amount of heat reduction…some yes but the M8’s are not that lean and do not run as hot as the twin cams. If you had a twin cam, changing headpipe in a touring Harley was a must! If you still “feel” that the headpipe is too hot, you can always add this:

2) I talked to Fullsac recently re cores…2.0 versus 2.25 and the recommendation is to go with 2.25 with techmat…no loss in hp/torque going to 2.25” cores if staying stock with the stock headpipe. Harley will definitely sound better and more like a Harley, but if you are looking for really loud, this is not the right setup for you.

3) Do you need a tuner if changing just mufflers? Most will say no and not necessary, but I plan on adding Screaming Eagle Pro Street Tuner with the Smart Tune Pro. Overkill? Maybe, but I want those wide band sensors as I believe there are several benefits to them. A good Harley shop will have the necessary Harley kit to drill out the bungs for the narrow band sensors in your stock headpipe, tap and install the wide band sensors.

Don’t shoot the messenger, this is just my opinion and some will disagree with the above and that’s ok, but this is what I will be doing in the future…oh and everything under warranty (cue “screw the warranty”😀)!

My 18 CVO Road glide, all I did was 2.25 cores and tech matt.  Ran great, it did not need to be tuned.

Having a place in Havasu where Fullsac is located (No one ships to Cali these days), gave me the ability to willcall my baffles and on a second visit pick up his head pipe for my 17'.  During discussions with Steve (Very friendly & helpful) he stated in dyno testing that the addition of his head pipe showed a 5 horse gain.  I have no heat gain and am currently running a street legal tune until getting around to installing a TTS tune and cam which I purchase awhile ago.  Having done the cores first while everything was stock with cat in head pipe there was no issues.  Also trying a stock de-catted head pipe did not add any noticeable performance or sound gain.

I also have a 2022 CVO 117.  I did the Fullsac 2.25 cores and tech-mat.  What a difference.

Spoke with Fullsac yesterday…I was told they are about a month away from having their 2.5” (that’s right, 2.5”) cores back in stock.

I heard them on a 2022 CVO Street Glide at this years Arizona Bike Week and they sounded perfect on that CVO, so that’s the route I plan on going.

I believe all other sizes are available if you don’t want to wait for the 2.5” cores.

I would not use a 2.5 core on the M8 motor if the cat is removed.  The M8 likes back pressure, so with out the cat in my opinion there is not enough back pressure.

My 2019, is 130", 12.1 to 1 compression.  I make 163 HP and 167 torque with the Fullsac head pipe and his 2.25 baffles.  So they flow enough for seriously built motors.

If your goal for now is just for a sound increase you can use the 1.75 cores.

My 124 is using 2.0 with headpipe and it works great for mid 140’s power, and is still relatively quiet at cruise.

If you decide to go big, you have a good starting point.

Quiet power is where I’m at!

Agreed…I would only use the 2.5” cores with the stock headpipe with cat still installed. If you are removing cat or installing after market headpipe, stick with the 2.0” cores.

I have a 2020, 2.0 cores without tech-mat, stock head pipe with cat, stock ECM tune -- runs perfect....

2013 110......fullsac headpipe, tech mat, 2" baffle and TTS tune. Runs great!
