Funeral escorts is one of the most dangerous jobs for a motor cop. I never understood the hurry of getting someone to the grave? I would hate to think a cop lost his life trying to get me there. It is slightly safer to do the escort in a car but not as easy though.
I know about giving someone respect and "full honors" but in today's traffic maybe the tradition needs to be changed?  :nixweiss:

I can see escorts for live dignitaries since they could have assassination attempts against them and in that case it increases the safety of the dignitary.

I couldn't perform that duty.  Based on his speed and approach, it looks to me like the motor officer wasn't using common sense and caution when approaching the intersection.  These days cage drivers have their heads so far up their fourth point of contact, or they're too into their cell phones, that they're not paying attention to anything else except their innards or their phone screens.  Just yesterday in Clarksville, TN, I got cut off twice on US 41A........both drivers had cell phones next their heads and were oblivious to EVERYTHING going on around them.  It is a dangerous world out there folks.  PLEASE be careful.

I prefer Hellfire.  No wire, shaped charge for Monroe Effect AND one badazz neodymium/synthetic yttrium aluminum garnet (YAG) light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation (LASER).   :2vrolijk_21:

That'll work too. Of course I would not complain if I were stuck with a .50 cal M2, either.  ;)
