Don't ride long distance. I try to ride at least once a month during the winter months... just don't ride for hours at a time.

January 1st forecast here in Oregon is 40's temperatures and rain. The roads are covered with a lot of sand and tree limbs from the recent ice/snow storm. I think I will wait for a better forecast before I take the 1st ride of the year. It has not been important for me to go for a New Year's Day ride, I just try to get out and ride in the winter months when the roads are in good condition and when it is not raining. I have heated gear for cold days so it is not so much the cold that keeps me from riding, but I don't enjoy spending more time cleaning my bike than the ride itself.

Supposed to be mostly sunny and high of 49° here in the Memphis area.  I'll probably ride with the Memphis HOG group for their polar bear ride.  We head down to the Mississippi River and watch folks water ski, wake board, air chair, etc.  It's a fund raising event and great way to start the year!

You betcha!  As many have said, I always try to start the year off right.  Forcast calls for dry and 52 degrees here.

I actually took a good ride Friday evening.  Left around 7:00 pm.  It had been dark for over an hour, but the temp was still in the low 70's.  Not often that you can ride after dark in December in Oklahoma without a jacket.  Saturday was a different story.... a front blew in and the high temp on Saturday was upper 40's.

We'll be out for sure.  We ride all year round no matter the temperature. Only thing that keeps us off two wheels is ice & snow on the roads.

Doesn't have to be a long (all day) ride either. A short putt on Jan. 1 for those of us in the colder climates is better then none at all.

Just got back from a little ride breakfast.  Started celebrating New Years Eve Eve last night os somehow this morning seemed to count for a New Years ride.  It was all very confusing.  Clear skies, clear roads, 22 degrees when I left.  When one of the voices said "put on your thermals" and another of them said "it's only 20 minutes to the diner" I should've listened to the first one.

Just got back from a little ride breakfast.  Started celebrating New Years Eve Eve last night os somehow this morning seemed to count for a New Years ride.  It was all very confusing.  Clear skies, clear roads, 22 degrees when I left.  When one of the voices said "put on your thermals" and another of them said "it's only 20 minutes to the diner" I should've listened to the first one.

I fished competitively for about 15 years.  When the temps were below about 30 degrees I always put my full-face helmet in the boat.  Keeps the brain from freezing to your skull

Yeah, when I got off the bike after the trip home my teeth were chattering so hard my nuts were vibrating like a seismograph in response.  Took the Road Glide, without the lowers back on it yet.  The little trip would have been ok with what I had with the lowers on the bike.  But no, I was addled.  Going to take the SEEG tomorrow.

We rode about 75 miles.
There was 30 of us.
It was cold, 43, but with heated clothes, grips and seat all was fine.
A beautiful day here, it's great to start the New Year by riding!

It was around 46 here today, so what do we do? Thats right head UP to the mountains where it was really cold. Only rode about 80 miles, went to Pretty Place at Camp Greenville. There were only 7 of us. I was the only female riding, and the only one with heated gear, seat and hand grips - so I was the only one not freezing! Great New Year's Day ride!

Temp. wasn't the issue here although never got over 22 the roads are still covered in ice, snow and sand from the 6" we got yesterday.

 I got out for a 60 mile run today. It was about 32 when we started and 29 when I got back to the house. Beautiful blue skies, dry roads, just a bit cool. I'm going to have think about some of that heated gear. I felt like Randy from that move "A Christmas Story".

Actually, 10 grand's not too far off the mark AJ. I was into the last one about to the tune of about $8500. Shouldn't be much more than another $1500 (give or take another grand or two ) or so with Feuling standing behind the last build due to their parts failure. So aside from the hassle, it's not gonna be too bad this time around! Don't think it's 3 Thruxton's worth though!!!

I took a little ride today.  It made it up to 72 degrees here... t-shirt riding weather.  A cool front came in about 7:00 this evening - the temp dropped about 20 degrees in about 20 minutes.  Forcast calls for back in the 60's by next Friday - just in time for weekend riding.
