Will be mounting my Kuryakyn swingarm plate mount next week and wil post pix.

My plan is to remove the OEM plate bracket mount from the fender strut support and trash it  :bananarock:

Then relocate the existing electrical connection down to the light on the Kuryakyn holder.  I did a test fitting this past week and the bracket fits absolutely perfectly.  Nice and low on the bike and tucked in tight....

At the same time, I going to remove that blasted reflector on the fender, and will finally have a clean rear end....er....uhm....I always try to keep a clean rear end just for the record  ;D

It is much better that way. :2vrolijk_21: Now if only the :police: don't hassle you :nervous:... some localities/states prohibit plates being mounted sideways. :(

Being military running out of state tags, I'll play the "I didn't know" card if I get hassled.

I looked for Virginia statutes that specify, but couldn't find anything.

Just got done pulling off my side reflectors, too!

That's what she said!!

Also thinking about pulling the back reflector today.

Just got the sticker off the intake and my engine guard.

Just got done pulling off my side reflectors, too!

I also purchased both the horizonal and vertical Kuryakyn plate mounts, so I can run in any state, hassle-free !!

G_Fend.  I am dying to get the reflectors off.  I have done this countless times on my 4 wheel vehicles and my other bikes, BUT never on chrome forks, and I'm a little skeered!  My normal process is:

1.hair dryer to heat up the adhesive on the back of the reflector
2.use fishing line and "saw" my way through the adhesive, the length of the reflector
3.use LOT's of Go-Gone to get any remaining glue off the surface.

What was your process, and I assume you didn't ding up the chrome doing it?

thanks!

Hey G_Fend.  You might already know this, but I read elsewhere that the rear fender has to be pulled to get the reflector off.  there is a mounting plate on the inside fender that anchors the reflector....

Jeff, I was a bit nervous too, but it was unfounded!  Used the hair dryer method and a flosser. Once I got an end warmed up and slid the floss under I was able to grab it and all 4 popped right off!! Very little residue and that just took a little WD40. Same with the air cleaner sticker.

May wait on the rear reflector for now until I have a more compelling reason to remove the fender.

Thanks Greg!

I figured the reflector was just attached via a pressure plate of some sort.  I tugged on that reflector a couple of different times, giving it everything I had....no luck....then days later i saw the message that the fender had to come off.

It's time for my 1k service so I will have the guys remove it then when they are doing everything else...

Going to give the swingarm and fork reflectors a go........I'm going in.....

I was going to order the lp holder and the mount clamp and wanted to make sure I order the right one for my bike: part # 3188 and 9251. Are these the correct parts?

Thanks,

Cam

Hi Cam,

I went back to double check my Dennis Kirk order and you are exactly correct.  Those part numbers fit my BO perfectly...

sure, just a note for you.

I used a thin piece of roofing rubber left over from when they re-shingled my house, and wrapped it around my swingarm, then mounted the circular bracket around my swingarm.  I can't imagine I will ever remove this mount but if I do, I won't have any scratching on my painted swingarm....just a thought...
