Looked at ported heads to get the compression up. I didn't know that it came with 255 cams already for low end torque. I asked some thing similar on another forum (I think both posters are also on this forum too, and this was helpful from Scott, HillsideCycleco:
S&S valvetrain products are some of the best in the industry, and their lifters are of a MUCH higher quality than that of OE.
Clutch?
VPC 92T clutch lock-up hat with a Barnett spring will do it.
"Max it out"?
A Wood 9B or 9F cam, S/E pistons, good heads, 58 mm HPI or S&S T/body with 5.3 gps injectors, and a D&D Fatcat with a big bore baffle.
You'll be hanging on.......tightly!!

And also from ProDrag:
first, junk the 255 cams, next have the heads done by a reputable porter.3rd,rase the compression to 10.0-1 and get S&S .570 cams (or if wanting a bit more, go to 10.5-1 and use .585 cams)
Talking to me wrenches, I would go to the 10.5-1 and .585s if I were to jump on the upgrades. I was really close to pulling the trigger thanks to these guy's help but I found out I had a second kid on the way! I was also considering the diamond cut heads and the JIMS parade fan.
