7inch daymaker on Bo
« on: December 17, 2014, 09:40:58 PM »

Sup guys,
Hit a roo with my BO, smashed the glass on the headlight.
Now I'm thinking of maybe going twin headlights or 7 inch daymaker.
Has anyone done this?

Never hit a roo here.  Lol. But did hit a deer once but with a car.   I have a put a daymaker on my friends BO for him last year for him for Christmas present from his wife.  She ask me to put it on cause he usually breaks something.   It was a darker colored one and it sure lit up the road during the day and the night.  He loves it.   I can sure tell when he is behind me now in the mirror.

As for a duel head lamp set up I have not personally seen one on a BO.  So I can't give you a opinion on that but I bet if it's done right it might look pretty cool.   Bit here in the states local laws could be effected.  That would be something that we would need to look at here.

Good luck on your choice and watch out for them Roos.

Todd.

Roo(s) , that would be Kangaroos to our US brethren haha..

Freeway near my house has prominent "beware of the roos" signs, 100Km/H limit there !

6 lanes , 3 north 3 south and bush one side for 5 K's or so, well within the "city limits"

Heading to a mate's clubhouse 9PM last Friday I'm waiting on my CVO Breakout at a red light to turn right and a big "Boomer" hops at speed from my right to my left to get back to the bush reserve

For our US cousins , a "Boomer" is the one with the big OBVIOUS "cojones"

The Bastids can be 6 foot tall moving at 30MPH or more !!

Daymaker a good idea methinks !

I'd like to see photos when they're ready of any Breakout headlight conversion

I've got the led to suit the Std headlight and it work great but I'm not a big fan of riding at night. As for the twin Fatbob headlight make sure you get the domestic version so both light are on all the time. I have seen one on a Std Breakout, didn't really like it but each for there own.

Hate Roos!

Hit one the other side of Queanbeyan on my springer in 95 and was lucky it was an Eastern Grey and not a Big Red!  Scared the crap out of me but survived, even managed to keep the bike upright somehow.

Based in US now where they also have critters roaming around at night, big ones too! While I prefer not to ride at night it happens and you need to be able to deal with it.  I generally tend to tuck myself in behind a semi or something big enough to sweep them off the road but you can't count on it. I put daymakers on my RG and could not believe the difference. Was a lot happier night riding with them on. At least you have a chance if you see them coming.

I'd put two on it so you can burn their eyes out at 3k. Did I say I hate Roos!

Cheers Tom

I have simply replaced the standard reflector with a "Daymaker" , and that is working OK for me , but when installing the "Daymaker" unit do not forget to install the special rubber block behind it , the part number for this block is 67700059 see the first photo.
The original headlamp unit is installed on rubber rings to prevent the normal bulb for breaking due to shocks , but these rubber rings are not strong enough for the extra weight of the Daymaker unit and the headlamp unit will start bouching up and down When installing the Daymaker without the rubber block.

Hey BO, is that just a day,Acer insert as available from j.w.speakers ect that slips in and uses the std chrome ring to secure in place, with the new rubbers u mentioned?

Fair bit cheaper than buying the total light, thanks for the tip.

No it is the original HD Daymaker unit , while the JW Speaker unit is to square on the back and does not fit the headlamp unit , so you have to go the Harley way or no way.

Ok, I have ordered a led replacement lamp for the original headlight, if still not happy will try what you have done. I assume you save a few dollars by buying just the insert?
