Taking Liquor into Canada
« on: June 19, 2007, 06:18:02 PM »

I know there are restrictions on the amount of liquor you can take into Canada.  It's like 1.14 liters per person.  But my question is:  Can you bring in a bottle if the seal has been broken?

I suppose some states might even have problems with a guy having an open bottle (seal broken) on his bike.

Anyone have any experience in this area.  I'm headed out next seek on a trip that will take me into Canada.  Sure would like to bring a bottle along for a cocktail after a long day of riding.  We will be heading into Canada at Sault Ste Marie, Michigan.

Cheers!   :drink:

I don't think it will be a problem. I've usually got a bottle of something or other in the saddlebag & I've crossed dozens of times both ways without a hassle. I alway tell them it's for medicinal purposes only, usually gets a smile. It really depends on the border guard, some can be real pricks. I've never crossed in the east, heard they're a little grumpier there due to workload.
