Title: Another new guy
Post by: Stratus on December 05, 2006, 03:27:59 PM
I just bought a new FLSTFSE2 Screamin' Eagle Fat Boy (now with 450 mi) and am in the market for a few mods. i live on Cape Cod, MA and winter is a time for upgrades...lol. anyway, i found out about this site via zippers while talking with them about their 103 cvo muscle kit. im looking for pipes as well. if you have any thoughts on the zippers 103 cvo kit or pipes (for looks and perf) i could use the help. My local HD dealer wants me to use all HD parts to meet the same end as zippers but with less performance and more $. any thoughts?. thx in advance.

First welcome and glad to see the guys at Zippers sent you here.  Lots of us have their stuff and swear by it.

You probably already know the answer to the dealer recommendation.  The only reason to go with all HD/dealer stuff is if you are concerned about warranty issues, but even then the warranty may be effected with all HD stuff too.

From the sounds of the dealer though if you were to do the zipper stuff and had a problem, that dealer isn''t likely to warranty anything.

You'll have lots of recommendation here and there are numerous threads on the upgrades you are asking about.

Hello Stratus and welcome to the site.  Unfortunatly I can't offer you any info on the Zippers stuff.  Some seem to like it and others don't.

Cheers, CVOMOE [smiley=banana.gif]

stratus,
Welcome to the best CVO/Harley site on the Internet. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] As has been stated many have used Zippers products (myself included). You can check this thread REDSHIFT 575 CAMS & OTHER PRETTY PARTS (http://flhrsei.org/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?num=1144700310/all) for information to the bolt in cams for the 103ci motors. If you are thinking about going to the 103 Muscle Kit offered by Zippers there are several members here that can give you information on those DCFiremann (http://flhrsei.org/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?action=viewprofile;username=DCFIREMANN), Unbalanced (http://flhrsei.org/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?action=viewprofile;username=Unbalanced), and Twolanerider (http://flhrsei.org/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?action=viewprofile;username=twolanerider).

Welcome and good luck with your new ride. Nice to see someone saying FTF, voiding the Warranty and doing what they want! I'm not ready to do that myself. I'll be anxiously waiting and watching your project so I'll know what and what not to do, after my warranty expires in 2 years. have fun with your "winter work" and keep us posted. Hoist!

Wecome to the site! Hang onto your wallet.....

The dealer that is telling you that they can get the same results as the Zippers equipment with SE offerings is full of it. As far as the warranty goes most all of the SE parts will void your warranty as well.

What color SEFB did you get?

And I was worried about warranty with a SERT only. I'm assuming that you have an excellent relationship with your dealer and he's going to put in writing your continued guarantee. Are you aware that the factory will not back the dealer with this and your engine will now be guaranteed by the dealer (hopefully).

You can't get the same results with stock SE stuff that you'd get with the Zippers muscle kit. How much warranty is left? If there's not much left, I'd either wait or void it and have the muscle kit installed. It can't cost too much more, but you'll get better results with the muscle kit. If you have a lot of warranty left, then let the dealer do his thing, but be careful you CYA and get his guarantee in writing. Good Luck.

Hoist!
