Going to change out my plastic manifold to the cast one & also going to 5.5 injectors also. Question is this something that's hard to do or better to let a shop do it... Thanx in advance.

What special tools are needed.

I've been looking for some videos but can't find any that apply to this..

Get a set of Ball Head Allens with the long shaft. You will need it to reach all the way back. Be sure to use a torque wrench when tightening them down.

Been said on here before but nothing really wrong with the plastic intakes. Almost every new car & truck on the market has plastic intake manifolds. I am curious why you are changing it?

Aluminum ones are higher flow I believe.

Been talking with GMR and some other tuners & they suggest to change it out to the aluminum one. Even thou probably would be ok but they are prone to cracking and leaking over time. I'm also going to some 5.5 injectors so figured just change it out anyways since gonna be there.

By coincidence, the other day I was speaking with a Porsche mechanic about plastic versus aluminum plenums (intake manifolds). Porsche favors plastic because they insulate the air from heat of the engine and colder air makes more power. Made sense to me.

Honestly just curious if anyone on the forum has ever experienced a cracked plastic manifold due to age or mileage? I know a couple 6.0 LS Chevrolet trucks with 250,000 plus miles that are fine with the oe plastic manifolds. I can maybe see a HD vibration being a little more susceptible but I am curious.

plastic intake manafold warp from heat mostley from getting to hot traffic ect when they get warped one sighn is they are very hard to start when cold

The injector change will require tuning. Just an FYI as I seen no mention of it in your game plan.

Waiting on manifold. Said maybe next week when they get some in. I ordered from Surdyke.

Finally received the manifold & injectors..Now deciding if I want to tackle changing it all out or let a shop do it... Looks like the injectors just slip into the slots & the O'rings hold them in.. I didn't see any thing else that holds them in...Does any one have experience with this.

The fuel rail that attaches to the fuel line holds them in.

Got all parts installed Manifold, injectors and Extreme Filter. Had a shop install parts for me & was suppose to do a tune also. Picked up Friday & shop told me that the map I had in there for the TTS was pretty much spot on & no changes needed to be made to it. Said the AFR was 13.0-13.5 all way across. The HP was around 117 & trq 130. I rode it yesterday & feel like its running really strong but I think it does need a tune thou. So gonna look for on getting it done somewhere. I just don't like way its idling of course could be the cam lope also definitely different from the stock cam
