What Does This Fit?
« on: April 17, 2016, 01:03:51 AM »

I bought a new take off Heavy Breather AC at a swap meet today.

The part number is 29472-05A.  It also came with the Screamin' Eagle Teardrop Heavy Breather Filter Cover-28739-10 and water cover.

I found something on line that said "maybe" it fit '02 - '07 touring.  But can't be sure.  It looks brand new and I could NOT pass it up.

Thanks.

So with nearly 200 views, no one has any ideas what this may fit?

I think that the Harley parts online only keep with current part numbers, not older ones.  I've found part numbers similar to mine online at Harley, but nothing back to what I'm assuming is the mid 2000's for NON CVO applications.

Can someone steer me to where I might find an application spec?

Thanks and have a great week.

Dan
Everything I found says 02 to 07 touring models and  07-11 Dynas & Softails? for that part #

Then I found this.
PN 29472-05

Fitting Information:
Fits '08-later Touring models (except Twin cooled equipped models, or models equipped with fairing lower glove boxes/fairing lower speakers).
Also fits '11-later CVO Softail models.
Is this what you have if so I think the 29472-05a is just the backing plate # and there is a different # for the conplete kit under MULTI FIT

Show us a picture of the bolt pattern in the backing plate.

What did the local HD store say when they tried to look up the number? Was is superseded? Changed at some point? Worked at father-in-laws GM store earlier in life, we could look up part #'s from start for the most part if whoever was asking was nice, if he was rude, maybe not. Maybe HD Part # system is similar to GM. I am surprised GRC (Jerry) hasn't found it for you. He is pretty sharp on this type stuff.

I thought I posted already on this yesterday, but it appears I must have hit the wrong button since I don't see the post here.

That part number is the one cast into the backing plate, correct?  It's just the part number for that plate, not the entire kit, and it is obsolete.  Based on the part number suffix, I would guesstimate it is the plate designed to fit the 46mm throttle body used on the 2006 - 2007 Touring models as well as later Dyna's and Softails.  I would also guesstimate it would work on the 2002 - 2005 Delphi throttle bodies which were 42mm if memory serves.  What it definitely won't work on is anything with the current 50mm electronic throttle control throttle bodies, which were introduced in 2008 on Touring models and around 2011 on certain Softail CVO's.

Check the bolt pattern on the plate for the TB.  The 50mm plate has a hole pattern with holes at 10,2, and 6 o'clock.  The older TB's used a distinctly different pattern.

Thanks a bunch guys.

I don't have time this week to take pictures etc, leaving for the Lake of the Ozarks this evening.

Yes, the number I posted was on the chrome back plate.

I has the chrome 90 bend tube, the adapter with the hollow bolts, o-rings and caps along with the tapered filter.  I also have with it the elongated slotted black machined aluminum cone cover with the rain sock to fit the aluminum over cover.

This think looks brand new and I could not pass it up.

I'll take pictures of the bolt pattern and also measure the opening on the plate.

42mm would be an opening of 1.654" and 50mm would be an opening of 1.969".

I really do appreciate all the effort you guys have shown on posting what you have.

Thanks a bunch.

Have a great weekend guys!

That part number is the one cast into the backing plate, correct?

That number is the casting number.

And also fwiw - I changed this sucker out on my '13 SERG and the HD site is wrong with their part numbers/fitment. The only part # on the HD site for this backplate did not fit mine. The bolt pattern is the same but one one of the plates, the two legs that come off the back are longer. I eventually found the right part but it was a pain in the ass and the right one still isn't listed on the HD site.
