08 Screamin Eagle Race Tuners are in
« on: September 18, 2007, 07:33:40 AM »

:bananarock:The 08 SERT's are in :bananarock:

Just talked with my guys. My turner came in Friday. The received 4 of the 20 on order. Time to get down to business.

HD Heavy Breather, Rinehart True Duals and the SERT to start. I'll be posting elsewhere on the site looking for set ups others have tried with cams for the 110 motor, head work, etc. Winter project - motor work / hard bags!

Thanks for the update.
I am still thinking about waiting on a PC.  Really liked them on previous bikes.

I was told by my Stealership that Kalifornia dealerships will not be able to order the 2008 Race Tuners. They said I could order it somewhere else and use it on my bike but the 1st time they hook it up to their computer it would send a message to headquarters and void my warranty.

Is this believable?.....Kalifornia has always been pretty bad (CARB).

Not sure I believe that.  Could the dealer be telling a story???

I sort of trust this one guy at the dealership...the rest of them are just punching a time clock...anyway I was wondering if the computers are really hooked up to headquarters. Or maybe the techs would see a flag of some sort on the computer and are instructed to report it.

The '08 SERT is P/N 32117-01L and has not shipped yet. Supposedly by the end of the month. If it's not this P/N, it's not for the '08's.

I doubt that their computers (the computers they use out in the shop) are connected to the MoCo.  Could be that they are instructed to report it :nixweiss: :nixweiss:

The P/N I stated previously, P/N 32117-01L, was given to me by Zanotti's when I was confirming the most current version for my '07, which is 32107-01H.

This is from the email they sent me on 9/20/07:

"The new race tuner that is coming out is 32107-01H and it set to be released from H-D at the end of the month.  This has the new software with it.  The current version of the software that will work with 07 models is 32117-01J.  The new software that will work with the 08 models is going to be 32117-01L."

The new "Digital Technician II" is in constant communication with the servers at HD Corporate as well as SPX Corp..... for software updates, realtime diagnostic feeds, DTC/Symptom diagnostics and repair Labor coding, along with a few other small nuances.

As far as being programmed to "Snitch/Spy" on the vehicles system, anything is possible, but I haven't seen it in our shops... but then again, I am in Pennsylvania, and don't curently have the Tree Huggers preventing us from doing "Race Use/Closed Course" types of ECM reprogramming....

There was talk of a pilot program for certain bikes and customers that would have a modem installed on their bikes to transmit frames of engine/system data to HD Corporate for realtime analysis of what types of stress' the bikes are put under in the real world.... Don't know what came of it....

I hope I am getting the correct part. The pipe should be in tues or wed. Then I'll let everyone know. If the thing runs good and the dyno sheet looks good. Till then I am just as confused as always. :nixweiss:

Had this installed and works great. Dealership is calling HD to find out what's up with the numbers. They said this has the new "H" software. The box looks like it was stickered twice. Rinehart's, SE A/C and SERT are working great. 2500 miles - no problems. Waiting on Tman and others for more info.

Hoist, which part number is correct?  Zanotti's sent me the 32107-01H for my 08 CUSE3.  I haven't installed it as of yet, I have not exchange out my exhaust system yet.  I'm still considering buying your V&H TD to replace the D&D 2 into 1 on my 00' FLTRSEI.

Last year when I put the SERT on my Road King, the dealer told me that it would void the warranty too. My understanding was that the dealers computers were in constant communication with the MOCO as Shovelhead Bob stated. What I don't understand is: How can a product that HD sells for their own bikes that is installed (in most instances) by their own dealer network void the warranty? I have also read that HD would have to prove that the SERT caused a problem with the bike in order to void the warranty. I don't get it.

In the Screamin' Eagle Parts catalog it states the SERT is for "race applications only" and normally warranty will not cover parts that are used for racing applications. However as you stated the SERT alone shouldn't void the warranty unless the direct use of it was the cause of the malfunction. Just like anything else the dealer has ways (options) to get around most of this in the interest of good customer service, and you just have to find a dealer that believes in taking care of the customer.
