2013 CVO ROAD GLIDE AUDIO SYSTEM
« on: August 26, 2012, 06:37:21 PM »

I watched this YouTube video regarding the subject bike http://youtu.be/xZPr_BIjBjY.  I assume that this is the same audio system as provided on previous CVO Street Glide models, so is the separate amps forward and rear typical?  Where is the rear amp located?  The saddle bag lid mounted speakers already take up space in those bags, so does the amp required additional saddle bag space?  Photos of this arrangement would be great if someone has them!

Check out North Georgia Hawgs modifications thread.  He has some very complete and up close pictures of his 2012 FLHXSE3 that shows the speakers, lids and amp.

The speakers do take up some room in the saddle bags. There is a small amp in the left side saddle bag that drives the rear speakers.  The two sided tape doesn't attach it to the rear wall of tha saddle bag very well tho.   It comes off then you have to reattach it.

The iPod is in the right side saddle bag, the amp is mounted in the rear of the left side bag (at least on the 2012 SESG).  I'm assuming they used the same design for the 13 SERG.  I've not had any issues with the amp coming lose from the inside of the bag (yet) and I, too, wonder what that extra plug is for.  Maybe added the option of pluging into the system with the iPod connector or through the headphone jack?  Would make sense as you don't really use the plug on the radio housing anyway  :bananarock:

That is a picture inside the lid of a CVO Road King.  So I guess they added an aux plug so some one could use a GPS, or MP3 player, the bike does not have a radio or head unit.

So Dave,  as I haven't seen one yet I am assuming (again) that the SERK does not have any type display for the rider to see and/or choose what song/track to play with that set-up as for iPod/MP3?  Or did they put the display in the speedo/tach?  Website lists all the things the tach/speedo perform but no listing anywhere on any type display for the sound system. :nixweiss:

My understanding from some one who was at the dealer release of the 2013's is that there is no display to see what the Ipod is playing or to help select play lists.  You can skip to the next track from the hand controls, or skip back a track.  Not sure if you could change play list from the handle bars though.  It would be hard, you can not see a display.

Figure I will make play lists as close to two hours long as I can for it's Ipod.
